Hello again, I've been building my THIRD (yes third) 1/72 AZ Models XIV however I wanted a short break from it. For the break I've decided to model a 144 wing machine cobbled from different wrecks, JEJ*JR MK329. This build actually started in reverse, first I scratch built an underbelly tank that could be used for beer transportation I', going to do this as a late war machine, I have been unable to find out what happened to MK329 after D-Day and its move to the continent, however, I suggest that it may have stayed with an RCAF or moved to a 2 TAF squadron as a hack/spare aircraft, following the sqn's through Holland, Belgium and Germany. This build has taken a little longer than I expected as I went a bit overboard on the "few improvements" idea I had in mind. Anyway, you all want to see pics! Fuel tank Converted to E wing Belts Belt and seat support bar Angled control surfaces Stripes look okish considering this is my first Small bit of damage and leakage A lot of damage caused when removing tape (I fear the primer hadnt set fully) Well it should only take a little while longer... Clues in the title, I know MK329 was coded JEJjr and made out of Spitfire wrecks. If sources are to be believed it had an E wing with the retro rudder. It also sported full invasion stripes with the letter JEJjr. According to JEJs log book he flew it only a couple times towards the end of 1944. After this did it stay with the squadron/wing/2taf? Itd make sense for it to be used as a "liason" and kept close in a squadron because those in command didnt like spitfires being used for joyrides and beer runs... Has anyone got any pictures of jejjr? Regards, Ben.
