Hello modeller friends, FLY Models caused quite a stir when they released their 1/32 Hurricane in April 2016. By a general consensus on the modelling forums, it's the best Hurricane on the market: accurate shape, good dimensions, adequate surface detail and unbeatable bang for the buck, etc… One question remains: HOW DOES IT BUILD? Strangely there are but a very few WIP's (one on this very forum) on the internet for such a popular model. Furthermore they all stopped still after a few instalments. What happened? Is there a monster glitch out there waiting for the unwary modeller? I decided to find out and share my experience with you. Before starting up, let me tell you that I've never been interested in the Hurricane as a plane and that I've never built a Hurricane in all my modelling years. That is before a friend showed me the FLY kit he just bought . I was unexplainably drawn to the box and before long I was cutting up the sprues, dry-fitting the parts … and buying the kit back from my friend. So let the build begins. First, the box with the 'meh' painting... … and the all-important documentation, excellent references I got from another friend. Most of it sadly OOP: Next episode: Dry-fitting the parts Until then, Cheers, Quang

Hello All, This is one those kits that fights you all the way until completion. First of all was the fact that I lost the sprue with the wings on it, turns out my old man had thrown it out to be recycled. Cheers dad! Then when I had it all made up and outside in the sun drying, my youngest puppy thought it looked tasty. So she jumped up, grabbed it and chewed the tail planes off... which then means I was buggered for finishing it. Then came Vulcanicity to my rescue. He very kindly sent some of his extra tailplanes, I assume from an old model, anyways Vulcanicity, you sir, are a legend! Big up for Vulcanicity! Anyhow, I then had to break the main wings off because of what the dog done to it. So I fixed that issue, then I got the whole thing built up, and lost the fuel tanks. Luckily I had a spare set from another kit. I had fun trying to airbrush the middlestone and sandy colour on to the plane. In a complete stroke of genius, I painted the darker colour first then the lighter one. That was a lot of fun. Got it all built and painted and decaled. Put a Flory wash over it, after a while I tried taking it off, it didn't wanna come off in certain places... second time I have tried using that wash. I've got to be doing something wrong, I am going with the fact it's me using it! I also going with the assumption that these aircraft where used and really abused, thats my excuse and I am going to stick to it! Onto the pictures... See the bit on the left that refused to come off?? That is after 4 coats of gloss too... I dunno... Any pointers gratefully received. Kind Regards, Dazz
