  1. Hello guys, here are the photos of my most recently completed model, Revell's 1:32 Bf 109G-6 in 1:32. The kit used was the 1:32, 2014 tooling, Revell Bf 109G-6 Late/Early. So far, this my third boxing of the Revell 109G I've built. Parts had some flash, especially in the exhaust area and the armoured headrest. The aircraft shown is the Bf 109G-6 when Erich Hartmann was Kommandeur of I/JG53 in Veszprèm, Hungary, February 1945.
  2. Hello guys, After building the small Airfix Spitfire Mk.Ia in 72nd, I decided to go back to one of my favourite scales, 1:32. This time it's the turn for the Revell 1:32 Bf 109G-6. Markings will come from different sources: The heart with Ursula's name, so distinctive on each of Hartmann's aircraft, will be from the Academy 1:48 Ta 183. Lower wing crosses will be from the Hasegawa Bf 109G-6 (the ones with the black outline). The chevrons are from the kit decals. Tulips and yellow markings will have to be painted.   3. Hello guys, here are the photos of my most recent model, Revell's 109G-10 Erla in 32nd.
  4. Hello guys! I just received a notification from a domestic seller that my Bf 109G-10 Erla in 32nd scale from Revell is on its way to my local post office. The kit has markings for two versions: Erich Hartmann's last Messerschmitt, and Yellow 7. I'll be building it as Hartmann's machine and put it alongside his G-6 from Hasegawa. I learnt a lot from the G-6 Late & Early (from Revell too), and will apply my findings (such as loose landing gear struts and fragile tailwheel strut) into play with this model. I hope I don't slash the tailwheel strut with my hand this time. The model should be arriving next week if everything goes according to the delivery schedule. Until that, here's a downloaded photo from Google of the kit's boxart.
  5. Bf-109G-14 | 1/72 | Hasegawa Hptm. Erich Hartmann, Pilot | 4./ JG52, Csór, Hungary, October 1944 I finished this on 5/17/2020. It is one of a two-in-one Hasagawa "Finnish Aces" kit my wife gave me for Christmas. The two Finnish planes looked so much alike that I decided to make one Erich Hartmann's "White 1". I've wanted to do one of his black tulip aircraft for quite a while because my dad built Jo-Han's interpretation of Erich Hartmann's "Double Chevron" and it hung on my ceiling throughout my childhood. In fact, it was the only German fighter on my ceiling, so to me it was synonymous with "German fighter". I was able to find some after market decals, but my biggest hurdle was figuring out how to paint the mottling on the side because there are so many interpretations out there! In the end I found the instructions to Eduard's kit with "White 1" in it and followed those. From Eduard's instructions: "Erich Hartmann, the most successful fighter plane pilot of all time, first joined the 7. Staffel of JG 52 on October 10th, 1942. He remained with JG 52 until the end of World War Two; in fact he became the commander of its I. Gruppe. The total count of his shot down aircraft was 352. For his exceptional success he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. After WWII he was transferred to the POW camp in the Ural mountains of the Soviet Union and was not released until 1955. The following year he joined the ranks of the West German Luftwaffe. He became commander of JG 71, the first fighter plane Luftwaffe squadron equipped with jet-powered fighter aircraft. He retired in 1970 and died on Sept. 20th 1993. Standard camouflage of Hartmann's "white 1" Luftwaffe fighter plane was complemented by a black tulip with white outline situated at the nose of the aircraft; this was at the time of his command of 4. Staffel. On the left side, underneath the cockpit, there was a heart with Hartmann's wife's name written over it. The yellow bottom parts of the wing tip and the yellow stripe around the back part of the fuselage marked the aircraft serving on the Eastern Front. " The Kit was terrific! Very little seam work was needed, in fact the seam work was not because of Kit issues, but my own Ham-handedness gluing it together. The only issues with the kit were a sunken area on the bottom behind the wing piece that needed to be filled and the canopy, which didn't fit really well. There was no detail on the cockpit sidewalls, nor in the wheel wells. I added my own detail in the wheel wells, but it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, so that was disappointing. Eduard showed the mottles to be randomly shaped, and I wanted to avoid the appearance of "dots" -- I tried, but didn't quite achieve it, so that was a little disappointing too (but I was able to do it on this model's sister build here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235075176-bf-109g-6-172-hasegawa-hemmo-leino/ ) This build is the first, and last time I've used Peddinghaus decals. They were absolutely terrible. The white was off register with the other colors, they were terribly thick and would not settle down with my strongest solvent and ultimately left terrible wrinkles just behind the propeller spinner that I had to cut out and paint black instead. They had a strange rubbery texture and were strangely pixelated like they were printed on a dot-matrix printer. Worst of all, the white was translucent so that the mottles under the white one were clearly visible. In the end I only used the Tulip and heart decals and had to raid my stash to find the right decals for the rest of the aircraft. I had to mask and paint the white "1" -- thank goodness it wasn't an "8" or something like that!! The spiral on the spinner was so terrible I had to paint it instead, which was extremely difficult. No WIP for this build. Finishing: Seam filling with Super Glue Paint; Mr. Surfacer Black 1500 primer > Mr. Color RLM 74/75/76 > Mr. Color RLM 70 (Propeller) > Hataka RLM 04 Decals: Peddinghaus Erich Hartmann I couldn't find good pictures of White 1, so I did minimum weathering.   7. My first Eduard kit, and probably my last until the Tempest V Series 2 comes out. The aircraft was easy to build, but the decals (specially the wing´s Iron Crosses) sticked as soon as they touched the surface. I ended up replacing the crosses on the wings with spares from a Cartograf printed decal sheet, since I broke one. I also almost break one of the tulips that went over the engine scoops, but I saved it. Spinner spiral was painted. Here´re the photos:
  8. Photos of my latest model, a Bf 109G-6 with markings for Erich Hartmann´s aircraft. I used Hasegawa´s painting instructions instead of the kit supplied ones, and a real life photo to prove this aircraft didn´t have the fuel tank, its rack, and the two underwing cannons Hobby Boss tells you to use.   9. Photos of my latest build, Hobby Boss´s Bf 109G-6 in 1:48. The only fit problems I could find were with the nose covers (a bit oversized), a cockpit piece that was in the way of a good fitting cockpit, and what I think was an oversized control panel that had to be trimmed. The model was brush painted, and the fuselage camouflage was handpainted, without guides, I´ll use Tamiya tape for the next 109, seeing they always have straight fuselage camouflages. I used Hasegawa´s Bf 109G-6 1:32 painting instructions for this model. Use plenty of water if you´re planning on using the kit´s decals, they tend to stick on the surface. As per real life photos of this aircraft, the fuel tank, its mount and the underwing cannons were left behind.
  10. Hello Guys, This will be my second Revell 1/32 Scale model that I have built and will go alongside my first one- the Revell 1/32 Arado AR196A-3 Seaplane in a diorama that I have planned. This kit retails in my Local Hobby Store for $27.50, but I had a $5.00 coupon to use making it only $22.50 (about 15.00 quid in the UK), which at first hand appears to be great value for money! Erich "Bubi" Hartmann was the Ace of Aces with the highest number of air victories that totaled 352, which earned him the "Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds". Introduction to the kit: The Box Art: The Box Contents: Inside the box are 4 clear bags of grey sprues, 12 in total and 1 clear bag containing 2 clear sprues. There's a 16 page black and white assembly/instruction/painting and decaling booklet and a sheet of cartograf decals. The Sprues: Sprues A and B: Sprue C: Sprues D, G and H: Sprue K: Sprue M: Sprue N: Clear Sprues O and P: The 16 page black and white Instruction/Assembly/Painting and Decalling Booklet: And finally, the decals: Initial Observations: The molded parts are very crisp and clean with zero flash apart from a couple of little areas. the parts have nice fine recessed panel lines and some rivet details. The clear molded parts are very clear and not thick with zero aberrations. The decals are excellent looking with zero carrier film beyond the decal edges. The black and white instruction booklet appears to be clear and concise, but the two paint and decal options would be better in color. There are three blank pages at the end of the booklet. The color call outs are in Revell colors only. I will make a final report when the build is complete indicating any issues that I come across. In the meantime, thanks for taking a look and I hope you enjoy following along with my build, which I started already, but haven't had the time until now to start this post thread due to family from Florida staying with us for the last 10 days.
