  1. Having finished my classic Revell 1/72 models of the Stearman Kaydett and Boeing P26 Peashooter I wanted to display them in flight.....and this is what happened: Just a bit of fun...enjoy!
  2. Aside from brass or aluminum rods what would make some good support material for suspending a “flying” model to be displayed on? Hoping for as close to invisible as can be achieved and will want to support one or more small models from a large model. (Imagine small space ships in flight around a large space ship that’s hanging in the air from wires.
  3. While looking for RNZAF P-40K-5's, I stumbled upon this website that I thought might be of interest to all you P-40 fans and modelers; I had no idea there were so many! I hope you enjoy looking at them. Mike http://www.godihirschi.ch/Cats/P40/P40.htm
  4. Hi all, This may be a slightly unusual topic to discuss, but I wanted to know if anyone watched a Red Pelican display back in the late 60’s. I have the airfix kit of the Jet Provost, but I would like to know exactly what the pilot would be wearing. I have found a video of them in red flight suits and helmets in 1963-4 but I’m not sure if they were still wearing that when they were no-longer the main RAF display team around 1969. If anyone could help with this, would be much appreciated! Many thanks, PlasticSoldier
  5. Hi all, I know this isn't the correct place for this but what is? I am looking for a model display cabinet that will take 1/72 models with glass front doors. Is there anyone out there with any recommendations and suggestions for sourcing this in the UK? thanks. Martin
  6. I honestly don't know how long this has sat on the shelf of doom, and for the simple reason that the fin decals were a tad too short and, on some of the lower arrow decals the wrinkling from Microsol/Microset hadn't fully pulled out. Anyway with a spare few hours and needing a break from the Junglie, I decided to try and wrap this up. I used fin decals from another of these kits in the stash to fill the gap at the top of the fin. The decal wrinkling, well there wasn't much I could do with that to be honest so I thought, to hell with it lets just finish this. Here it is decalled, the artificial light has given it a very pink tinge in the first pic, it's really not I promise - Mounted and in better light!! It's literally just stuck into a 2" x2" block of wood just now, I'm planning a better base for it than this, and a slightly different pose - Used a cut down pin for the pitot probe, and it makes a huge difference. The smoke is just cotton wool teased out and stuck to a steel 1.3mm rod, then sprayed a thinned blue colour. The rod goes all the way through the aircraft and stops in a hole on the rear cockpit bulkhead making it pretty stable once stuck in place with some Gator Glue. Hope this appeals to the masses. I'll post some more pics once the new base is done. Rgds, Eng
  7. Well, I originally went to see the two Lancasters but the B727 was top draw, so much so I had to edit these before the Lanc photos.. It did a number of passes etc... which was a superb sight to see! 8. Hi! Finally got this finished last week. I think the upload affects the colours a bit so I've done my best to get it displaying correctly but you get the idea... The official blurb... The Royal Air Force 2013 Tucano Display aircraft is ZF239 based at RAF Linton–on-Ouse in North Yorkshire and will this season be flown by Flt Lt Andrew Fyvie-Rae, supported by Display Manager, Flt Lt Dave Kirby. The display this year is provided by 72 (Reserve) Squadron, which trains future fast jet aircrew for the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy under the banner of No.1 Flying Training School and ZF239 has been painted to honour the Spitfires of 72 Squadron which fought in the 1943 Mediterranean campaign during World War II. In 2013 the team flies in support of the Royal Air Forces Association, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Candlelighters Trust and Leonard Cheshire Disability and all fundraising proceeds will be passed on to these charities. The official print will be available to buy from early June and will be launched at the RAF Cosford Air Show on 9th June 2013. Prints can be ordered via the team's website at: www.raf.mod.uk/tucanodisplayteam Only unsigned prints will be available via mail order, priced at £5 (plus £5 P&P). The entire range of merchandise, including signed prints will be available to buy from the Tucano Display Team stand at selected air shows throughout the 2013 season and a full listing of scheduled displays can be found on the team's website. Thank you for supporting the 2013 Tucano Solo Display. Print & Artwork Copyright A J Donovan, 2013
  9. Here are a couple of my images from air displays. It's quite tricky to catch the right moment! The Blades Aerobatics Team And of course, the Red Arrows
  10. Hi there I wanted to try something a little different with the photos I took at Fairford. While on holiday, I started to have a play around with Windows Moviemaker and used it to create an animated slideshow of my favourite pictures. The finished film - complete with AC/DC soundtrack (switch on your PC speakers!) - can be viewed on YouTube. Click on the link below: Or search on YouTube for RIAT 2012 rocks to AC/DC. All aerial shots were taken with a Nikon F4 300mm lens. For the first time I managed to get some crossover shots of the Breitling display team and the Red Arrows. Cheers Richard C
