Just now found this photo- besides the fact that it's a very pretty bare metal T-Bird, it appears to have non-standard bang seats. Photo taken at Luke AB in 1982, acording to the caption. Anybody have more info on this one? It would make a neat modeling project. @Old Viper Tester Sven- do you have any idea? I found this just now and thought it might be of interest, as it offers a good view of two F6F-3's aboard the Enterprise in 1944 with the external bomb pylon which could be fitted to the RH wing center section. I hope it is useful for modeling projects. Mike http://www.navsource.org/archives/02/020625.jpg I discovered this while looking for more photos of the -3 bomb rack; I was not aware that the Collings Foundation had this Hellcat and that she was a genuine F6F-3N! Can't wait to see the final result at an airshow! This was one well-traveled Hellcat! https://www.collingsfoundation.org/aircrafts/grumman-f6f-3n-hellcat/

Just now saw this- OK, now that they have moved the bleedin' coffee tables/chairs elsewhere, they need to put the wing floats back on! Just stumbled upon this photo, which I have never seen before. I was not aware that J-79's were ever fitted to an F-101. Does anybody have any more information on what I am guessing was a one-off? @Sidewinder @Sabrejet Those are some serious burner cans! Scroll down to see the photo. Greetings from sunny, hot south central Texas, y'all! Stumbled upon this during my regular morning routine of looking for great modeling references and drinking coffee. I have never seen another photo that shows the complete installation details of the 30mm cannon fit on the Avon-powered Sabre. I think this would be an excellent modeling reference for doing a 1/48 or 1/32 Sabre. In my opinion, the Mk 27 was the highest performing variant of the breed- too bad the USAF didn't have them in Korea, as the kill ratio would have been a lot higher, methinks! (This one's for you, @Sabrejet) What a beautiful weenie cooker!
