Hello everyone.
Well, after 125 pages on the forum:
- and 18 months later, this unanticipatedly complex build has now finished.
The aircraft herself is 51-8037 of the 6593d Test Squadron, responsible for the first successful mid-air retrieval of the film capsule from a US Corona spy satellite on August 19th, 1960:
Fuller details of the mission and historical sources used can be found over the the WIP link above.
The kit is the old Italeri one completely reworked inside and out, with a new vacformed rear fuselage and hinged door to create the 'J' variant. The main technical reference used throughout was USAF Illustrated Parts Breakdown T.O.1C-119F-4, which covers both 'G' and 'J' versions. The only aftermarket used was PJ Productions' excellent 'Transport Pilots' and 'Ground Crew' sets, re-posed and with added detailing to approximate a 1960's aircrew. Everything alese has been scratched.

All markings are painted as I no longer use decals.
