  1. Hi again everyone. After the build of the Revell Pirate Ship, I felt like going back to doing something military again. Among my kits I had the Trumpeter British 155mm AS90 Howitzer so decided to go for that. On the whole I'm warming to other manufacturers as some seem to do as well a job as Revell usually do. it's quite a good kit to build, minimal flashing of parts and there is a lot of nice details. I bought the photo etch for it to just to add those very small details. I followed the tips already provided on other members builds to lessen the chance of errors and below are my attempt. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.
  2. So, this is my first planned diorama, and the first diorama I've attempted (actually, that's not true, I bashed one together out of balsa wood a long time ago ). But it will be the first diorama since I started putting more effort into my modelling. So far I only have the rough plan of it, and what will decorate it. Its one of at least three dioramas I have planned for this particular setting, which is a fictional conflict between China and Japan. This one will be set on a Tokyo street and features a Humvee crew meeting with a small group of JGSDF soldiers. Over the years I've picked up a number of JGSDF figures, some from the Iraq Humanitarian Assistance set and others the Type 90 w/ loading crew (which I'll probably put with my Abrams). Only painted up the two shown here so far (that camo is tedious, maybe more so than ACU). The additional decoration for this idea came from the Meng barriers set. The k-rails in the set I've painted up and will likely use with my Bradley idea. I also planned to get two other Meng sets, one being the highway set (possibly for the Abrams) and the other the vending machine (for the Bradley). The Bradley (an M2A3 BUSK), which I've started building, will also be in NATO three-tone. So without further ado, here's a basic look at what my idea could look like Gaz
  3. Hi, i'm currently in the process of building a small vignette for the GB, and have run into a small problem. Did British troops in Greece wear 8th army desert equipment, or standard Khaki battledress? Also, what figure sets could I use? Thanks in advance, Seabo14
  4. Good Morning, I have just taken delivery of the Dragon Conquerer Mk2. This is my first AFV kit which seems very easy to build, i would have hoped for a metal main armament, and the tracks although they look well detailed remind my of the rubber bands of my youth. ( i am now 60 and returning to the hobby) I believe that the paint in service during the 60's was a gloss dark green called Bronze Green. 1, is this correct? 2, Who produces the colour? Probably been discussed before, but i couldn't find it. Regards Graham. ( new boy in town ).
  5. Can anyone please answer the following queries I have about softskin vehicles in the Normandy area June 1944? - Did the British Army have any U.S. softskin vehicles such as Half Tracks, GMC 6x6 etc., at Normandy? If yes, were these vehicles repainted in British Army green (Mickey Mouse?) or did they remain in US Army Green The British did have DUKW's but were these repainted or did they remain in US colours? Grateful for any constructive assistance here as I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject but I have quite a few vehicles to paint for a D-Day dio. At present I plan to paint the British Vehicles with Vallejo 71012 Dark Green and the U.S vehicles with Vallejo 71016 (RLM 73) US Dark Green. cheers Mike

  7. Here we have an Accurate Armour Mark 3 Tank Transporter with Sankey 60 Ton Trailer designed for carrying Chieftain and Conqueror Tanks. In this case the Cromwell Models Conqueror. As one of the original members of 3 Tank Transporter Sqdn....23 Tank Transporter Sqdn disbanded shortly after to become 3 Tank Transporter Sqdn and this is the equipment we used in the 70s at Antwerp Barracks in Sennelager BAOR. Both kits, well, 3 actually counting the trailer, fought me all the way with brittle parts breaking and replacements having to be hand made. I have made the antar with options for ballast or 5th wheel, crew canopy or, as often seen when not being used just the skeleton framework for the canopy/crew quarters behind the cab open to the elements. It still need some weathering on it although these vehicles, like tanks, only moved 6-8 months of the year so much time was kept keeping them clean, spotless and depending on the driver "bulled up" The rather long ramps on the Sankey Trailer can be displayed up or down with all chains detached or in situ
  8. Hi all, I'm contemplating a 1/72 build of a Lynx AH.1 but I'm aware of three kits: Airfix, MPC (which appears to come with a set of figures) and Plastyk. A look on eBay suggests the Frog kit could be built as both army and navy versions. Which of these is the most accurate to build an AH.1? Or is there something else out there? (in 1/72...not yet keen enough to follow Lynx7's lead with the Revell beastie!) Thanks for any and all help you can provide, it's much appreciated!
