  2. Hello everyone.. I just had an idea for a group build. We have all had relatives that served in the military or in civilian service, or served ourselves. Im proposing a group build celebrating those relatives and family histories or your history. I recently built a tank (trainers group build) that my grandfather trained in. I had an uncle that was in both the RN and US Navy in WW2 and Korea. So long story short is if you have a Familial connection to the equipment you wish to model, including being a passenger in some cases. Maybe they flew on H.P.Hamdens. Maybe they served on H.M.S. Repulse. Or drove a Firefly in N.E. Europe. We should celebrate there service. Maybe they were Rescued by S.A.R. Or flown home on a Lancaster or B-17 after being liberated from a POW camp. Maybe it was a slow boat from India or Burma at the end of the war ? I wont discourage civilian types as well. If you had a great uncle that shoveled coal for a British railway. Or was a crewman in the Merchant marine. Maybe they are a hostess or steward on British Airways ? Maybe they are a fireman or law enforcement ? We should celebrate them all as well. So if you're interested please let me know ? 1. Corsairfoxfouruncle 2. Helios16v 3. Ted 4. Zebra 5. Valkyrie 6. Jb65rams 7. Ray S 8. bigfoot 9. vppelt68 10. 825 11. JohnT 12. 12b. 14. 15. 16. Dennis
  3. Hello Everybody ... Im normally an Airplane guy but I had a chance to go to a Museum here in Chicago today. Well actually the Suburbs in Wheaton. Its called Cantigny after the place in France. Its the private estate of Col. Robert McCormick who commanded a portion of the 1st Infantry Division ( Big Red One) in WW1. He built an entire museum devoted to the 1st Inf. Div. There are about 15 tanks ranging from WW1 to the modern M1 Abrams in the tank park. I photographed everything and am placing it here for anyone and everyone that might possibly need or have use of the imagery. @Julien may use these for the walk around section if he pleases. There are 50 photos spread across the whole lot. I apologize in advance as i only have the cell camera. My 35mm still needs a special battery. The tank park also has a lot of children crawling all over tanks so try to ignore them. I cropped as much of them out as possible. We start with the M1917 tank. I apologize but i think this is a St. Chamond type please correct me if im wrong. Its hard to tell from the photo’s but the museum visitor is standing in a replica of a WW1 trench here. The St. Chamond is actually about 10’ feet higher than the trench depth. So you are looking up at it. I imagine its on a framework behind the trench wall to support it. M4 Sherman M5 Stuart M24 Chaffee T26E4 M46 M41 Walker Bulldog M47 Patton M48 Patton M551 Sheridan M113 M60 Patton M1 Abrams I truly hope this helps anyone please have a great day. Feel free to ask questions, leave comments, or tell jokes. Dennis Brown
  4. The clever lads at OKB Grigorov have just released a brand new injection moulded M24 Chaffee light tank kit in 1/72nd scale - and it's a real gem! All the hatches are separate pieces. The tracks are length-and-link. The mouldings are very cleanly executed and the finesse of the detail is wonderful. This kit blows away the Hasegawa rendering in all measures. Plus, it's very attractively priced. Even just the "basic" version is only 17EU. US Light Tank M24 Chaffee http://shop.okbgrigorov.com/product/639/us-light-tank-m24-chaffee.html The "Mammoth Edition" is also a bargain when you consider all the photo-etch, resin details, and turned metal gun barrel that comes with it. http://shop.okbgrigorov.com/product/641/us-light-tank-m24-chaffee-mammoth-edition-1-0.html
  5. Check out some pics of my diorama that I made for a recent Stalingrad-themed group build over at Model Officer’s Mess (a great modelling Facebook group!); it’s featured there as the cover photo right now. https://pin.it/6bz7ngry66j5jl https://pin.it/f2suzb2prdiguj https://pin.it/b4bndeuommoh2i
  6. Hello! I'm a Fairly recent returnee to to the hobby, and was keen to try out all these new techniques. Please excuse this rusty Chieftain, I got one of those Tank Art books, and it's easy to get carried away practicing all those techniques. I could say it was a very lucky range target, but I don't suppose they'd leave the baskets and GPMG on... Anyway, I had fun making it (Apart from the tracks, that wasn't fun) and learnt a lot about chipping, oil paint and such. Cheers!
