I have been an airplane modeller for more than a decade, but the last few years I became an armour enthusiast too. That's my first post of a tank at Britmodeller.com, a model I finished a year ago. It is the 1/35 Miniart T-55A, in the colors of the Yugoslav Army as it operated in the late 1990s in Kosovo. It was the first Miniart kit I attempted to build. I was initially overwhelmed by the 800+ pieces and wondered if I manage to complete such a complex model. In the end though, it wasn't too difficult for me, I just had to spend a lot more time on cutting and gluing than on a regular kit. Moreover, to the company's credit, they quickly replaced a piece that I lost. For the painting scheme, I chose the complex four tone Serbian camouflage as shown on the kit box. Paints are from Gunze and Tamiya and the tank was weathered with various products. I also only added the antenna and ammo boxes in the place of the rear fuel tanks, as was the original in some photos I found. Hope you like it. Dimitrios

Good evening all, Today I have for your viewing another of the venerable Matchbox Hawker Fury's, built as the kit provided option of a Royal Yugoslavian Air Force machine. As typical of the kit, it built well. My only additions were some internal framing that is no longer particularly visible, and a fuselage number 81 as seen on a Kora decal sheet. Without an actual photo, it's accuracy is unknown, but I wanted to break up the flat silver finish. And yes, the Matchbox kit is accurate with these markings. While most Yugoslav Fury's had a different radiator and landing gear, the first 6 were standard machines, the same as those used by the Royal Air Force. Right then. The model: Overall, this build was a nice distraction from the ongoing Stranraer project, which has hit a bit of a wall until I can source some belts, depth charges, and new Pegasus engines. Next up is finishing a Percival Proctor from FROG, final detail painting on a second FROG DH.60G, and I have an Airfix Bristol Bulldog in the mail, which will be finished with the included Swedish Air Force markings. It'll be another 1/100 scale Eldon Match Kit from me. Having built a few Match Kits, I know exactly what to expect: rivets to sand off, decal placement marks to fill and a finished result that will bear little resemblance to the real thing! Nevertheless, I do find them quite fun. The kit includes decals for rather a plain looking post war Mustang - just don't use the cover photo as a placement guide! The more you look, the worse it gets. Maybe the moulded-in placement marks should've been made even deeper . Fortunately, the instructions get it right. When released in 1967, these kits cost 39 cents in the US. I know this, because it's printed on the box! That's not something you see nowadays. Rather than use the kit's scheme, I'm going finish my Mustang as 'Weary Willie', after it had fallen into Yugoslav Partisan hands. I don't know much about the background, other than that the plane made a forced landing due to battle damage and was abandoned. Subsequently, the Partisan's repaired the plane and started to use it. The new ownership was advertised by re-painting the white stars to red. Lift Here! do a set of decals in 1/72 (here's their artwork), but I'll have to make my own. I'm looking forward to it. Cheers.

I want to build a 1/48 IF-86D in Yugoslav markings, but I am suffering from a lack of info. There used to be an F-86 website that had good info (pics & drawings) of the Yugoslav IF-86D and their recce conversion details, but the site is no longer online. Plus, all the info I had downloaded & construction notes I made were lost in my last computer crash. I know that Lift Here Decals from Serbia makes 1/48 IF-86D decals, but they show the plane in natural metal (or silver paint?). Were they natural metal or silver paint? Actual planes on display in different museums claim to be IF-86Ds, but they are camouflaged, and some still have the Might Mouse rocket packs which were replaced with the camera pack. Does anybody have any detailed photos of the camera pack, and proof that the IF-86D was indeed camouflaged? I remember one photo from that old F-86 Sabre site which showed the windows and some bomb racks (for photoflash bombs?). Larry lengesath(AT)cox(DOT)net

Hi all, Here are some pictures of my latest model, Revells excellent 1/48 scale Republic F-84G Thunderjet finished in the markings of the Yugoslav Air Force. This kit is simply excellent and very well detailed out of the box but is often overlooked in favour of the more expensive but less accurate Tamiya model. The Yugoslav's received F-84's from 1953 onwards and some were delivered in the so-called Arctic scheme as shown here. This is the 3rd Yugoslav marked aircraft that I have finished this year, thanks to the encouragement of my very good Serbian friend Sasha who not only supplies me with decals but also all the information I need to finish the models accurately, thank you Sasha. I hope that you all like the photos, and all comments and questions are very welcome. If you want to see her in the flesh as it were she will be on the IPMS Nuneaton/Mercia stand at Telford.
