  2. Hi all and here's what crossed my worktable this year. Most were finished with a hairy stick....more on that below! Hasegawa 1/72 X-29 for the Grumman GB. Built OOB with white from a rattle can. I goofed on the wing decals which should wrap under the leading edge but happy how it turned out. Hasegawa Grumman X-29_finish_7r by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr As Aldi had some Airfix kits in stock last Christmas, we had an Aldi Blitz build in our club and this was my entry, the Airfix 1/72 Fw-190 A8 of JG300. Again, OOB with decals by Sky Decals. The wrong colour underneath but enjoyed trying to match the mottle with a sponge. Airfix FW_190_Done (1)r by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Staying with Luftwaffe, this was my entry for a 'Captured GB in our club - a 1/72 Revell (Frog) Ar-234 B2 Blitz. I went scratchbuildng-crazy on the cockpit, not that you can see much! Revell_1_72_Ar-234_Done (9)r by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr For the Maritime Patrol/Coastal Command GB, I took the plunge with my first ever Vacform kit - a 1/72 RarePlanes Beech Super King Air in Irish Air Corps markings. Didn't get it finished in time for the GB but did eventually finish it! I have huge respect for anyone who builds Vacform kits regularly.. RarePlane Super King Air_Irish_Air_Corps (15) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr For the Specialists GB here, I went with this 1/72 Airfix (Heller) Dassault Breguet Super Etendard in Argentinian Navy scheme,, 1982 Airfix_Heller_Super Etendard_1_72_Done (14) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr The Lockheed GB was next and I built a 1/72 Hasegawa Lockheed S-3A Viking - OOB but with aftermarket decals for VS-33. This kit is a bit special to me now as it's probably my last kit where I brushpainted all the main colours (the white was from a spray can). 1_72 Hasegawa_S-3 Viking_VS-33_4 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr For an RAF 100 GB in our club, I had to build a Harrier. This is a GR3 by Airfix in 1/72 in No.4 Squadron markings. This is also the first kit I finished entirely with an airbrush. Quite a learning curve and really happy how it ended up. Airfix Harrier 1_72 GR3_Done (20) rs by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr For the Frog GB, I had some fun with this one, an "F-4K Phantom" (please refer all Royal Navy F-4 kit queries to the appropriate part of the forum!) I sanded off all the rivets, rescribed., added some detail as well as a spare cockpit and canopy from an Italeri kit. Frog F-4K M Phantom_Done_8 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Frog F-4K M Phantom_Done_21 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Next up was a rescue from the shelf-of-doom, a Revell Trade Federation Tank from Star Wars Ep.1 While it's the model from the Clone Wars animated series, I back-dated it to the earlier model and scheme. Good fun! Revell Star Wars AAT_Done_1 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Our club had a Matchbox GB and I went with a 1/72 Matchbox Dauphin in Irish Air Corps scheme. The more I got into it, the more I decided to finish it as the a/c was retired before being sold to the Chilean Navy. All detail was from bits and pieces in the spares box. Matchbox_Dauphin_Done_8 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And was completely gobsmacked to win a bronze in the Helo Class and the IPMS Ireland Aviation trophy in our national competition. Matchbox_Dauphin_Done_20 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr These lads got started for an Arnhem/Market Garden GB but never finished - will get back to them next year. MiniArt_35148_WIP_1 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And finishing the year was another Irish helicopter, a 1/72 Heller Alouette III in 1968 Irish Air Corps markings for the "In the Year I was born GB" Heller Alouette III IAC_Done (15) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr This beauty is currently on the bench - started for the Flying Boats GB but not finished owing to our home heating breaking down for 3 weeks - was too cold in the house to spray! Revell CL-415 Wip_11 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And that's it! Thanks to everyone who ran and organised GBs here and elsewhere and for all your comments, inspiration and feedback; it really is appreciated. Happy modelling and wishing you and yours a happy & peaceful new year. Dermot
