Hi, All. Another kit and, gasp, it's another Warrior. This time the Meng version and it's a commission! One of the Lads wanted a Warrior model, as he used to Command one, so I made a deal that if he buys it I'll build it. He buys, I get the enjoyment of building it and I don't have to worry about finding room on the shelf afterwards. First things first, ALL HAIL THE CARPET MONSTER!!!!! Thence to some track bashing. They are individual links that come in pairs and have to be separated. Six join together and you sandwich into the clear contraption and force in the pins (on the combs looking sprues). I must confess I didn't find it as easy as some, but that could be me being cack-handed. After a couple of hours in front of the TV I managed to get a track and a half done. Tonight I started the main build. It falls together with minimal flash. One unusual thing - the PE is pre-cut so all you have to do is peel it off and glue it down. A couple of hours later and it is starting to look like a Warrior I obviously didn't wash the sprues well enough as one of the return rollers pinged off....and landed in the bin 😡. After emptying it out I eventually found it. That's when I decided to call it a night. Bill

Hi All, Here's the Academy Gulf War Warrior which I've marked up as a Cheshire Regiment UN vehicle in Bosnia using the excellent Star decals set. The kit is a challenge with no PE,clear parts or individual link tracks. Lots of release marks including one on the front face of all of the turret vision blocks. I don' t think its that accurate as a Gulf War example so this will be way off for detail fans. The mud was to try and disguise the poor rubber band tracks. I did find an ABER barrel which is a huge improvement over the kit one. Usual C&C Welcome. Regards David

Thought I’d have a go at an AFV as a change from ships. Academy 1/35 Warrior 2003 to go alongside an AFV Club Scimitar I built a few years ago. The Warrior will have Eduard PE along with Resin, PE and figures from Accurate Armour and a replacement Rarden barrel from Armour Scale as well as Fruil tracks The Scimitar will have replacement tracks from Fruil as the kit tracks were always a bit tight. Eventually they'll go on a simple desert base together for display. The builds nearly finished so the below are catch up pics. Warrior MCV Add-on Armour 1:72 Revell The Warrior Mechanised Combat Vehicle is the main infantry fighting vehicle used by the British Army. The most common version employed by the Army is the Infantry Section Vehicle, or ISV. The ISV is capable of carrying 7 infantry soldiers as well as three crew. Other versions include command vehicles and combat repair and recovery vehicles. The Warrior is armed with the fearsome automatic 30mm RARDEN cannon, a 7.62 mm coaxial chain gun and defensive grenade launchers. Warriors have seen service in both gulf wars, as well as in Bosnia and Afghanistan. Inside the compact end-opening box are three sprues of beige plastic which hold a total of 136 parts. This is not a brand new kit – the mouldings actually date back to 2001. Nevertheless, the sprues are well laid out and the mouldings are free from flash. Surface detail is clean and crisp, and first impressions are very favourable. Assembly begins with the lower hull, wheels and tracks. The suspension and axles are moulded in place, which is perfectly acceptable for a 1:72 scale model. In any case, they are nicely detailed. With a little care, making sure all the wheels touch the ground will be a straightforward matter. The wheels are moulded in two halves, which will result in a nicely detailed model, although it does mean that painting the rubber tyres will take some time! Injection moulded link and length tracks are provided. The tracks are well detailed and should be straightforward to fit. The tracks on a Warrior are usually pretty taut too, so no need to worry about recreating any sagging effects on the upper run of tracks. Construction of the rest of the lower hull is fairly straightforward. The large rear door for the infantry compartment and the drivers hatch are moulded in place, but the protective cages for the headlights are very nicely represented, as are the rear-view mirrors. Although most of the pioneer tools are moulded in place on the hull, one of the shovels is provided as a separate item. Details like these will add an extra touch of finesse to the finished model. The turret is nicely recreated. Both hatches have been left open and separate hatch doors are provided, with surface details moulded on both sides. As is usually the case with this kind of kit, the gun is fully poseable. The RARDEN cannon itself is quite nice, which is just as well as I’m not aware of any aftermarket alternative. One slight fly in the ointment is that the stowage bins are provided as solid plastic pieces, with the impression of mesh moulded onto the surfaces. Those particularly keen on replicating the real thing will need to get hold of some plastic strip and fine mesh to replicate these parts. The add-on armour is of the applique variety often seen applied to Warriors on operation, and includes side armour as well as armour for the glacis plate. Two different options are provides for on the decal sheet. The first is for a SFOR Warrior from Bosnia-Herzegowina, finished in the familiar green and black camouflage scheme found on British AFVs. The second is finished in the white UN scheme and is from the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) based in Bosnia-Herzegowina in 1994. The decal sheet is small but nicely printed. Conclusion This was a great kit when it was first released, and nothing much has changed since. A couple more decal options would have been nice, particularly a gulf war scheme or two, but overall this should be a nice kit to build. Highly recommended. I had it half finished for ages and finally got round to it last night... The UN decals for the sides disintegrated, so I improvised with permanent marker. I don't think the marker came out too badly and the reference photos show the markings on these vehicles being applied in all sorts of manners

Just finished this tonight. It a loose representation of a battle group warrior landing a hand to a red top safety warrior that has lost its rear idler assembly, out on the prairie in BATUS Alberta Canada. They are both based on the cracking Revell kits, the 512 conversion was scratch built due to lack of availability of the king fisher conversion. The red warrior is out of the box minus a few parts. Weathered with a dark earth was and air brushed dust. Thanks for looking Jon
