  1. This is the first of my Focke Wulf Ta152s, it's the long in the tooth Trimaster / Dragon / Italeri / Hobby 2000 kit. Although old it has stood the test of time really well. I opted to build the H-0 version which entails filling some underwing inspection panels and scribing (badly!!) a larger panel. This is shown on the instruction sheet in 1/48 allowing the making of a template. Two small circular panels also require filling on the upper wing, this then converts the H-1 back to an H-0 model. The kit was built virtually OOB, with the addition of the Quinta 3D decal set, Reskit wheels and EagleCal decals, I wasn't happy with the kit spinner shape so replaced it with one from the Eduard Fw190D-11 kit. It appears this particular machine wasn't fitted with a pressurised canopy, so Eduard to the rescue again I used a canopy from their Fw190 family, I chose not to have the cowlings open spoils the lines of this sleek looking machine. This particular machine is Wrk No 150007, Stab./JG.301, Stendal Germany 1945. Many thanks for looking Cheers Andy
  2. My second rendition of the Focke Wulf Ta152H this is the H-1 version from the Zoukei Mura company. This kit is also an OOB project, although compared to my previous Hobby 2000 build, was a bit of a nightmare. For a 1/48 kit it seems to be over engineered, probably because it's a down scale of their 32nd kit!! As with my previous build I used the Quinta 3D decal set and Reskit wheel set plus Quickboost exhausts and lots of cussing!!! I had intended to have the cowlings open and detailing the engine, however due to grief it caused me trying to get the engine and accessories 'shoe horned' into the fuselage I decided against that option!!!! I had to leave so much of the interior detail out it left an engine missing parts, probably down to my poor build. The detail in the kit is great but unfortunately so much is lost when everything is built up, unless you opt to do the skeletal version shown on the side of the box. Accuracy wise the ZM version is probably more accurate than the Hobby 2000 kit especially around the rear fuselage/fin area, the Hobby 2000 kit being too wide which results in an overly thick fin. The machine portrayed is, the well known, Green 9 Wrk. No.150168, Stab. / JG. 301, Neustadt - Glewe, April 1945. Apologies last image is unfortunately out of focus!! Thanks for looking.....................Cheers Andy
  3. Hi everyone – here is my latest completion, the 1/48 Eduard Messerschmitt Bf-109E-1 Weekend Edition, built with the addition of the Eduard etched fret for this kit. This one was built to accompany the Hurricane I finished back in January (here - Normally I'm a WW1 aircraft builder, so I don’t know too much about Bf-109s... I am sure there are plenty of errors! The model is painted in the markings of a machine of 1/JG26, France, 1940. This scheme seemed a little more interesting due to the green spinner and possible lack of white infills to the fuselage markings. The decals came from an old Aeromaster sheet from 1994 (which I have had in the stash for at least 20 years), which, sadly, silvered a bit (not surprising for decals that are nearly 30 years old..!). The national markings and aircraft number "1" were sprayed using home made masks. The paints used for the finish were all SMS acrylic lacquers (my new favourite paint), but the RLM02 and RLM71 were ‘reddened’ up a little bit, as they were a bit too ‘green’ for my taste. Here's some pics: Overall, this is an excellent kit which goes together nicely (so nicely in fact that I am tempted to start another one!). Apologies for the poor photography (my camera is also pushing 20 years old…). Thanks to all for looking! Cheers, Brad
  4. Hi folks, may I present my latest (and longest) project. Started this beast 2 years ago, ZM Ta-152-H1 in 1/48. It's retty difficult to build due to strange parts brakdown, lots of filling and sanding was required to finish it off. I was lucky enough to get the PE parts for it, but the most time consuming was placing of HGW rivets over the entire airframe. Painted with MRP Paints, weathered with oils. Enjoy the pics!
  5. Hi all, For my first post I'd like to share my recently built Messerschmitt BF109e in 1/48 scale. Being my 2nd WW2 fighter (I've also recently built a 1/72 Spitfire Mk1a), I've still got a fair amount to learn about the process. Had a lot of fun building this however, and I am in the process of creating a diorama to surround it so some details are still absent such as the rigging and red markings behind the wings and horizontal stabilisers. Comments always welcome. Hope you enjoy the pictures! Cheers, Ant
  6. Hello to all, While the Mirage 2000 awaits its paintings, I attacked another kit, the TBF-1C Avenger from Hobby boss. It is a rather original subject which does not exist very little at 1/48 in the end apart from Accurate Miniatures. The kit is complete, beautiful, as much as the AM, I can not judge, I never had it in hand, I leave it to the experts. However, the kit has its shortcomings, such as many injection pads placed everywhere and especially in places that are difficult to access such as in the arming bay for example where this area is dotted with injection pads. Finally there is a little "flush" to eliminate on some parts too, and finally we would have liked more details on the side of the fuselage where we have the door of the aircraft. We will see how this kit is fitting, with its satisfactory level of detail. T he kit will be built out of the box with wings extended and flaps and door open. In terms of loadout, it will be those present on the boxart, tanks, rockets and bombs of 250 kg, that seems a bit much to me, I still leave it to the experts on this side. Finally I would like to add that HB is not very efficient when it comes to indicating the colors for painting the different parts of the kit, I had to go online to find how to paint the details of the cockpit to the extent that nothing is indicated. Now some pictures:
  7. I bought this resin model from Ebay some years ago, it's an aeroplane that has interested me for sometime a 1930s design that lived on till the end of WW2. These aircraft used by the Luftwaffe for night harassment on the Eastern Front make a change from all the usual 109s and 190s I have built. Onto the kit all the basics are there in resin plus white metal undercarriage legs, injection moulded wing struts, vac formed windscreens and decal sheet. Unfortunately I should have checked the contents of the kit a little more carefully when I received it as some of the smaller detail parts were missing ( good old Ebay!!!!). I managed to get some reasonable idea of the layout of the cockpits from trawling the net. Incidentally it seems the French have an example of this aircraft preserved, it originally was liberated by the French Resistance! The kit detail in cockpits was basic 2 floors, 2 seats, crude instrument panels, two radio sets, moulded interior framework (removed) and a missing control column! I added as much detail as would be seen, the cockpit openings are not that large. Fuselage was glued together and sanded down. The wing was supplied in left and right halves which I joined using small metal tubes to add strength, the weight of the assembled wing meant that the interplane struts supplied in resin were not going to support it, they would have been better supplied in white metal. My solution for this was to fabricate struts in metal using some brass Strutz streamlined wire I've had for many years, this was quite a reasonable solution I'm pleased to say. The joining of wing to fuselage still caused me a lot of frustration and cussing but eventually came together quite well. I painted the wing and fuselage seperately also applying the decals before joining them together. I fabricated the exhausts using 2mm soldering wire as the exhausts supplied were not suitable for a night harassment aircraft. A note about the colour scheme and decals these came from an OWL decal sheet I bought after buying the kit, they were quite thick and a couple of the items broke apart when applying them however I managed to get them on successfully in the end! The aircraft is He46c of NSGr.1, Idriza airfield, Eastern Front early 1944. Not one of my best builds but I highly doubt we'll see an injection moulded kit of this aircraft, watch the Czech kit producers prove me wrong 😁. It would be great to see some of these neglected second line aircraft in kit form (1/48 of course). Thanks for looking Cheers Andy
