  1. Hi, here's a build I finished a month or so back, Hobby Boss kit, Pavla seat, El Presidente decals for a Ugandan AF machine. Unfortunately I didn't put anywhere near enough nose weight in.....Hope it's of interest 20210829_170940 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_172642 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_173318 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_173324 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_173340 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_173410 by bryn robinson, on Flickr 20210829_173452 by bryn robinson, on Flickr
  2. Good evening All, I'd like to join this GB with this little trainer. This is my first WIP thread and first GB as well, so please be gentle with me 😊 I got this kit in my stash a while ago, but I didn't really have inspiration to start it. I couldn't really decide which scheme to do, but as I was always intrested in smaller air forces, this GB seemed like be a good challenge for me (especially the timeframe, since I am usually building at a snail's pace..😬🐌 ) The kit is nicely moulded, I found just a little flash here and there. There are plenty of ejector pin holes on the parts, but after a quick check, I found that they won’t be visible after assembly. I wouldn’t waste too much time on the review, there are much more detailed ones around the web. So, an obligatory sprue shot: I plan to build it OOB mostly, the only aftermarket items will be the pitot tubes from Master, and decals from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD. Two schemes are provide on the decal sheet for Ugandan planes. The sand/green camo is too „logical” (at least for me), but the earlier grey/brown scheme looks weird enough to catch my attention. I’d be really curious, who and how figured it out that these colours will be adequate for an African air force?? 🤭 Since then I cut off the main parts from the sprues, and cleaned them up. The dry fit shows very nice fit 😃 That's good news, my builds usually take the direction to the shelf doom by endless filling-sanding circles... thanks for looking, to be continued (hopefully) soon.. 3. BPK's 1/144 Bombardier CRJ 900 finished off in the markings of the resurgent Uganda Airlines. The Airline recently bought four CRJ 900s and is expected to add two Airbus A330 NEOs at the end of 2020. Route expansion plans include direct flights to London, Accra, Johannesburg, Guangzhou and Mumbai. The kit includes a transparent fuselage, full cockpit interior, resin engine intakes and exhausts, and a small sheet of etch parts (aerials, pitots, undercarriage doors and rear fuselage strakes) - Plenty of detail to keep you occupied. I finished the kit with Gunze paints and followed the painting guide on the aftermarket decal sheet from 8a Decs (sheet 7909-591), although I have a strong suspicion that the wings and tail planes should actually be white, and not grey. I was torn between the option of using the clear fuselage or the photorealistic windows included on the decal sheet. Unfortunately Fortunately, the decision was made for me after I made a mess of the cockpit paint work, and I'm pretty pleased with way that the window decals turned out 🙂. As far as the rear fuselage/tail markings were concerned, I didn't fancy my chances at joining four decals together without join lines, so I opted to mask and paint the black/yellow/red stripes before applying the crane emblem. Speaking of which, the grey crowned-crane is the national bird of Uganda and it appears on the country's coat of arms : . The antelope on the left is the Ugandan Kob, and as luck would have it, the decal sheet included all four registrations including 5X-KOB. It really was a no-brainer 😀 . Anyway, now that you know more about Ugandan wildlife than you did at the start, here are the standard 4x4 pics: ...and the profile shot : When it came to the "with something else" shot, I couldn't resist the East African Super VC10 Anyhow, that's it for now. Thanks for looking and please feel free to leave any feedback/comments. In the meantime, I'm going to head off to my next build. Best Regards mike
  4. Hello All, Back to modelling after a long hiatus. I wanted to build an African MiG-21 for some time now. Kit is KP. The kit has lot of issues especially in the cockpit area and I struggled with the fit (You can see it ) and the panel lines are raised too which makes it hard to weather . Other than that the build was straight forward. The anti glare panel was painted based on some reference art work I got off of Wings Palette .Decals were given to me by a good friend of mine. Now to the pictures. Hope you like it . Regards Vivek
  5. ...that next to the engines, that is! Hi chaps, I was just browsing through Pointerdog7's decal list and from doing a bit of on-line research I got to discover this picture: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Uganda_Airlines_Boeing_707_Groves-1.jpg Can anyone please tell me what that pod hanging near the wing to fuselage join is? Was there another example hanging on the opposite side? Any detail pictures of it anywhere? I was pondering about what livery to use on my first 707 and this looks kind of interesting. I also noticed that there were at least two slightly different liveries worn by Uganda Airlines 707s: the one pictured above and this: Is the livery as shown by the Pointerdog decals the second (final) one? Any idea what year the font and tail design got changed? Thank you! Cheers, Niki
  6. Well having failed to complete my Bomber Command GB Lancaster within the deadline I now give myself the challenge of 2 builds in one GB!! First cock-up: I've realised that my cunning plan of doing 2 x 1/48th builds has been undermined already - that'll teach me to concentrate when ordering. Anyway here we go with the first build: a 1/72nd Su-30 of the Ugandan Air Force made from the Trumpeter kit The Kit: The Contents (well some of them): The Decals: And this is what I am aiming for (copyright:Tarmac Images):
  7. Here's my latest completion - the old KP kit built up as a Ugandan AF Mil Mi-17. I'd long ago promised this to a friend, who unfortunately passed on before I could complete it - it was delivered to his widow. My first whirlybird in over twenty years, and took much longer than I'd expected. Hope you appreciate it. With the availability of the HobbyBoss kit, this is definitely 'one the hard way', but it's what I had, and short of the major problem with the windscreen (which I didn't feel I had the skill to change), is not that bad a representation.
