  1. Sorry if this a repeat of someone else's thread - but... Is anyone else building this kit? If yes, do you find that the kit is of poor quality? E.g. Flash in difficult to reach places (and too much flash in general); brittle parts; badly fitting parts; poor fit etc? I'm building it at the moment and it's a bit of a pig! (to the point where I've thought of stopping and moving on to a Tamiya version). It might become my first shelf queen!
  2. Well after many a moon away from the workbench I have decided to return and to tackle a group build since i really enjoyed the last one i did, WAY back in 2012 9HMS King George V, see the Sig) So I've decided to do HMS Warspite because i happen to have a Trumpeter kit in the stash and because she is pretty much the most epic ship in the Royal Navy, EVER! So firstly heres a picture of what I'm hoping to achieve Im planning of heavily weathering the ship to make her properly dirty so heres Obligatory opening shot Now as I said this is the Trumpeter kit, unfortunately I'm not learning that almost ALL the upgrade kits available for Warspite are meant for the Academy model, I'm not overly fussed about the guns/PE, that will fit either with some minot fettling, but its the decks which might prove to be a pain, so I'm currently researching if i any of the currently upgrade kits will fit this model, if not I might just buy the Academy kit and look to sell on the Trumpeter kit later, anyway thats a Job for tomorrow Till next time
  3. Hi well after completeing Warspite it was only natural to set me eyes on QE sitting with five other ships to build on the shelf above me. Well having accumulated all the relevent parts I have made a start. Some pictures. Box art of Trumpeter kit. A very good book on thease ships and a colour chart to boot. Artwox wood Deck, not tried one of thease yet but see no problems so far. Some of the deck will have to be removed around the 4.5 turrets on secondry armament. The WEM manual that comes with the PE Fret. A very good one it is as you can build with thease frets two types of the QE class, QE and Valiant. So you must study the manual very well. There are some differences even for the QE here as for early and later hip up grades in her life time. Ok enuff woffling, on with the ship proper.
  4. Been a while since I've finished and posted. Number three of my Scandinavian build theme for this year. Fun kit with no surprises. I would suggest an aftermarket burner can as the seams are obnoxious. I used Royal Resin wheels, and somebodies resin seats. Decals are for a single seater from Xtra Decal, thus the fictional call number. The back of the fuselage isn't as defined as I would like; but, looks good (the sun light sure washes it out...) Used Floquil for the silver, Model Master for just about everything else and Humbrol for the green. Enjoy, Pat
