Hey all, A quick post of these two lovely little models I had a lot of fun building Trumpeter's 1/144th F-14D and Revell's 1/144th F-18D. Trumpeter's 1/144th kits are an absolute blast to build- low part count, perfect fit, excellent level of detail for the scale, and stress free. The perfect antidote for taking a refreshing break from your other high maintanence builds. I used the lo-vis Tomcatters scheme from the F-14D kit on the F-18D, despite the VF-31 not having the Hornet (they currently have the F/A-18E). Also for the eagle-eyes, the wing-tip rails are not acc
Hello all, Having been bitten by the Hornet bug (no pun intended) i'm going to crack on with a build I started briefly for a Group Build a year or so ago - 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18E in the markings of VFA-31 'Tomcatters.' The squadron seen action over the skies of Iraq and Syria in 2014 and has just deployed in February 2017, so that's the time period i'll be going for. Will be using Fightertown decals, Steel Beach FOD covers, Wolfpack cockpit and Steel Beach ECS pipes. Dave
hello fellow artists. I leave you here a model i made last year. It is academy's F-4J phantom which comes with jolly rogers decals. but i decided to build it to resemble the tomcatters scheme. With decals from the original kit and the ones from superscale decals, which i was lucky enough to find them on ebay. Also resin upgrades to the intakes, wheels and tires, tailhook, and exhaust pipes. minor scratch into the wheel wells, and finally painted PE for the cockpit. now, to the pictures. regards from Mexico!
Hi all, So going to give another 1/144 a shot. Did the F-14D Super Tomcat last time round, so now giving the F/A-18E Super Hornet a go. Started it a while back so there will be a bit of an update now. This is the kit: Came with what looks to be a pretty good set of decals for one of the VFA 31 "Tomcatters": Also decided to give a resin aftermarket seat and cockpit from RetroWings a go. Very small with much detail! Cleaned it all up and here are the sprues and cockpit: A couple of comparisons between the original seat and cockpit and the RetroWings equivalents. So much more de
