  1. Hi guys here is my Hasegawa F-16 from the Royal Netherlands Airforce as it participated in the NATO Tigermeet held at Fairford in 1991. I have build it for the F-16 STGB here at Britmodeller. Hope you like it. NATO Tigermeet 1991 Fairford UK F-16A Royal Netherlands Airforce 313 squadron Hasegawa 1/48 kit with Quickboost ejection seat, wheel doors, Aires exhaust nozzle, and from Master the pitot tube, AOA probes and static dischargers. Build thread can be found here Erik
  2. Back to my more traditional 1/48 and 1/72 GB pair, I bagged this Yellow monster! Not sure if I will attempt the Tiger Stripes....especially the Belgium version, which are quite difficult to replicate....there is a aftermarket decal set available. The Canadian version seems more straightforward....watch this space.... Should I bottle it, I got this set of old FROG decals, not sure how good they will be....there does seem to be a lack of extra decals in both scales, apart from DACO, which in my view are a bit pricey? Any other ideas/options welcome! fancied the worn Danish look, but be hard to replicate in 1/72..... \
  3. Hi guys, My first ever WIP on Britmodeller! I was in the building process of a F-16 when I discovered there was F-16 groupbuild in progress. Although I was quite a bit underway Rich decided I still could participate! So here it goes: The chosen F-16 is one of my home country's airforce, the Koninklijke Luchtmacht. In 1991 the Tigermeet was held at Fairford and "we" had 2 similar F-16 with the special tiger tail, J-004 and J-012. Both block 15 OCU's I was 9 at the time but they made quite a impression on me when I saw one of them thunder the runway at Twenthe AFB. Unfortunately J-012 crashed some 2 years later in to the North Sea after engine failure.. The chosen kit is the well known Hasegawa 1/48 F-16. This one is V103, which comes with the Tigermeet decals: I made my fist Hasegawa F-16 last year, a block 40 big mouth of the Bahraini airforce: For my Dutch F-16 I will use some aftermarket stuff such a P&W nozzle and Aces II seat from Aires, wheel doors from Quickboost, AOA probes, pitot tube and static dischargers from Master, a small cockpit and engine cover PE set and early wheels from Eduard. The progress so far: Not really a big fan of PE but it looks quite nice, one day I want to try a full resin cockpit... Normally a hell of job to get the inlet seamless but I will use FOD cover, just as it had on Fairford as can be seen on the box cover. A small but important detail which is often forgotten, the hole where a fabric FOD cover is attached to. Hasegawa want you to use the left panel but for a block 15 F-16 this is not correct, unfortunately they only supply one type in this box so I had to remove one from a F-16C box in the stash. Same goes for the ECS exhaust, all F-16's build from the factory as block 15 received the newer type exhaust. Hasegawa want you to use the early type, can not understand this because when looking at the box cover photo the later type is clearly visible. Lowered the flaperons a bit as it gives a nice touch. Also this has the old style launchers, which is correct for 1991 I think. So there it is, my first WIP on Britmodeller! Erik
  4. Hi all and this is my latest finish, Revell's 1/72 F-16 from the 'Tigermeet 09' boxing. Full WIP is here but to recap: Kit: Revell 04691 Scale: 1/72 Paints: Halfords primer, Revell acrylics, Future, Flory Models wash. Decals: From the kit Extras: None, just seatbelts from Tamiya tape If you're in Dublin next weekend, this (and plenty of better-built models ) will be on display at the IPMS Ireland National Show. All the best, Dermot
  5. HI all, Just thought I would share this one that's been on my workbench for the past few weeks but I never got around to posting here...an OOB build of Revell's F-16 Tigermeet '09 Box Contents.. The big decal sheet that doesn't quite fit inside the box!! (note the bend in it) Started with the cockpit and apart from seatbelts, all OOB. Drybrushed the panels instead of using the kit decals.. This kit really falls together nicely, just the odd area to watch out for the fit.. Simple one colour paint scheme of Gunship Grey applied with a brush (first coat) And the underside masked up for the light grey bit.. Started the decal work on the drop tanks, to see how they worked. Really nicely printed by Daco and settled down lovely with some MicroSol.. And then on to the airframe! Did I say the decals were lovely? Well, they are but they're oversized for the kit and needed endless trimming and re-fitting to get them to work. And MicroSol for the curves.. Underneath pic... And with the doors removed... And how she looked the other night....the tail decal was a bit of a bear to fit More updates tonight hopefully! Thanks for looking. Dermot
  6. Some time ago I bought a unboxed Rafale from Ebay for a pittance, not sure if it ever had any decals or I lost 'em. But to save wasting a kit I ended up buying some after market decals from Syhart(via Hannants). This is probably false economy as the decals cost about 3 times what I paid for kit , but anyway .......... The kits not bad actually with plenty of detail and goes together well. Decals sre superb and you could actualy build three examples from the decals supplied..........obviously I went for the one with the flashy tailfin(although you only get 2000ltr tanks with the kit which were not used on this example at Tigermeet, so some slight artistic licence there). Some of the stencils are like dust specks in this scale and a bit superfluous. Didn't bother with the missiles(as yet) Colour is a 50:50 mix of Vallejo MA 114 and 46, with a coating of Vallejo satin varnish(a bit on the glossy side I reckon) wash was lamp black oil paint and white spirit. Now all I need is someone to say "Is it 1/32" LOL All positive critique welcome Cheers, Saddler
  7. Hello, Viper Tigermeet Tmota 2005, decals Twobobs, ladder and photoetched Eduard
  8. The problem with putting off a project for 20 years is that when you get around to it, it can be too late. I bought the DACO deacls for this model over 20 years ago but only now got around to using them. Unfortunately they had badly degraded resulting in epic silvering. I completed the project anyway and its not too noticable in daylight, though terrible under artificial light. Depressingly not one of my best as its one of my all time favorite schemes! Any comments for suggestions welcome John
  9. Hello, bought the Revell (Monogram) F/A-18C Hornet is the new Swiss Airforce boxing recently, with very nice decals by the way! BUT, I want to backdate-update, whatever! it to a fairly modern Spanish Airforce C.15 Hornet: that's what I am starting with: quite a lot cleanup done: a little thick but very nice and shiny transparencies: looking like a hornet ! the stabilators need a reinforcement: the will be positionable with a metal tube and rod: cockpit parts look quite nice for OOB, sot too sure if the seat is the correct one... the nozzles look quite nice, maybe a bit short and rounded... any aftermarket recommended for the old Monogram kit? any critical issues I) should be aware of? thanks for your input! Regards, Werner
  10. well another one finished, built out of the box as there's not room in the box for me to build it ha ha the kit went together very well and the decals went down nicely and behaved very well, i used Daco's strong setting solution and a hair-dryer to get them to conform. Anyway enough waffle and on with some photo's taken with a galaxy note 3 for ease of uploading. Ill take some proper photo's on the dslr outside later. And a size comparison with the Mig31 that's in the paint shop at the moment I don't know about you lot but I feel my modelling has got markedly better this past six months since I reverted back to 72 scale, The builds don't get bogged down as much as in larger scales.
