  1. The fight, in April 1980, was between Irish troops under the command of the UN, and members of the South Lebanese Army (SLA) at At Tiri, in South Lebanon. It remains one of the Irish Army’s biggest fire-fights. The kit is by Tiger Models, a maker that is new to me; they seem to specialize in modern armour. In the box: And spread out, with some Echelon decals The bag on the left contains some springs (in the red and blue sachets), photo etch, and (hidden here) turned metal barrels for both the main gin and the co-axial MG. Curiously, they offer both vinyl and injection tyres.
  2. Hello, Here is the tiger model 1/35 T-90. Build by a friend, painted by me. I hope you will like it. Thanks for watching. Ilan.
  3. Hi everybody, today I finished Tiger Model's Panhard VBL at last. My WIP: The kit is nicely detailed and a straightforward build with a good fit of the parts. It is built straight out of the box, the only addition are the antennae. Camouflage scheme painted with Revell Aquacolor colours, green and brown by airbrush, black areas brushpainted. Only slightly weathered with oil colors. As usual I had the most troubles with the last detail parts, this time the nasty steel rope that has to be bent around the circular shape on the left side. The instruction gives you 100mm length, but only the half of it is needed, so I had to shorten it and bend it again. Of course the superglue worked fine between my fingers but not there where it should work. It was quite hard to attach the rope, but after some attempts it was finally there. It looks quite odd but I am happy it's there. The finished model: Thanks for looking, any comments are welcome! Have a nice day Nick
  4. Hi everybody, while fiddling about with the track links of the AT-T artillery tractor I started a parallel project as a relief from frust and slow progress. I chose the Panhard VBL from Tiger Model, a small french reconnaissance vehicle. This is a very nicely detailed kit with a good fit of the parts. There are some ejector pin marks you have to take care of, because they are in places that you will probably see. No big problem at all. I started with the interior of the crew cabin as per instructions. The colors I used are Revell Aquacolor 06 (Anthracite), 09 (Teerschwarz), 65 (bronce green), 46 (NATO-olive) and Gunze H405 olive green. The hoses on both sides of the central panel are drybrushed with Aluminium. That's how far I got: Thanks for looking! Suggestions and critiques are always welcome. Have a nice day Nick
  5. Hi all, just finished this one and snapped some pics. I'm a relatively new modeler, and welcome all critiques/criticisms/tips! This is my second tank and first one in the 1/72 scale. This was found for a good price at my local model shop, and having never heard of Tiger Model, I was intrigued by the positive reviews and an awesome buildup of this on YouTube. I don't think I was prepared for how small some of these pieces were, but 95% of them fit perfectly so that was great. The kit includes photoetch mesh for the turret baskets and IR panels. I also bought a black dog resin accessory kit for the stowage. As far as I can tell this is the only 1/72 kit produced by this company, which is a bummer. Many firsts for this kit for me - first 1/72 tank, first time using pigments, first time using resin aftermarket. I built it up as a relatively undamaged tank, with pin washes and pigments as my only weathering. The armored windows may be a touch too green and the vision blocks ended up too dark from what I wanted, but overall I'm pretty happy with this build. This is good practice for the 1/35 one I'll eventually get to. Stynelrez grey primer, Mission Models paints (body color of MMP-038, US Desert Tan Modern 2 FS3446) & Semi-Gloss, AK Interactive Ultra Matte, Tamiya clears for the glass, Ammo by MIG enamels and pigments. And as a little bonus, the tank next to my 1/35 Challenger 2 & 9V battery for size comparisons. Thanks for looking!
  6. Hey there model folk Alright, time for my third attempt to get back into scale modelling in a real way rather than just lurking on forums and looking at everybody else's work...😭 So following my opened-but-barely-touched Revell Phantom II F4-C and Hasegawa RF-86F30 Sabre, I've gotten myself a kit of one of my favourite esoteric French pieces of armour.. So, one of my major stumbling blocks is... I haven't got an airbrush or compressor. Yet. I aim to rectify that in the next month or two, and the issue I've been having with my flying things is that basically you have to paint the cockpit and such before you can continue with the main assembly. As such, I don't get far into the build, and I flame out due to lack of motivation. No such problem with armour!! I'm aiming to have the gear end of November (I'm going to Hong Kong with the Missus between now and then, so all funds are going to that), so assuming I don't get tear-gassed in a pro-democracy protest while I'm over there, hopefully I'll have the build all wrapped up and ready for painting by the time I've got my hands on a blowbrush. So, onto the piccies I guess! I've always been a big fan of the look of the AMX-10, I dunno what it is. I have a bit of a thing for weird French armour, I considered the Tiger ERC-90 as well before settling on the AMX-10. I've always had the main picture from the Wikipedia article in my head when I imagine the thing; So I want to try to recreate it as best I can (probably not that well). This photo is from wargames I believe as it has a firing simulator attached to the barrel (which, incredibly, has been modelled in 1/35 scale, although I won't be including it on mine). I like how haphazard the stowage is in particular, like, that beige strap that seems to be anchored at the front turret armour, then wraps around the porthole, then back around the bags? Shabby as hell, I love it. So, I'm going to do my level best to duplicate it. I've stuck the hull halves together - the fit is quite nice, though a few gaps down the side that I may need to fill in later - and started on the running gear. The axles/suspension bits are actually kinda neat, it's a shame they'll be hidden once the wheels are on. The wheels are quite nice and detailed. I saw from a couple of kit reviews that some of the boxings have an ugly seam line directly down the middle of the tread, but luckily nothing on these ones; That's about where I'm at now. I'm not wanting to go too crazy trying to replicate the advanced modelling stuff I see a lot of folks around here doing, but I'm gonna do a couple of bits - like replacing these ugly handles on the kit with some nicer ones, either using staples or some styrene. Also, with the vents, has anybody got any experience with using a knife to carve out the gaps between the vanes, to give a bit more realism? Or is it easier to just remove the entire thing and recreate it in styrene? Thanks all for looking! Hopefully this one goes better than my last attempts
  7. Hey, After lingering around the forum and making great use of the stunning amount of information here I thought, it would be time to continue my selfish trip by asking for your opinion on a build I recently finished for Airfix Model World (seen in the June 2017 issue) Many thanks in advance for your comments and critique! Cristian
  8. On Tuesday night we had a Build Night at the Aberdeen Modellers Society so I decided to take along one of the Tiger Models Cute Kits. The kit is a snap together kit which offers the promise of a quick build (the term is relative when applied to anything I attempt). It offers options for the more serious modeller with optional instrument consoles for decaling or with lovely detail for painting, obviously I chose the former option (and then chose another option that was to use the supplied stickers instead of the supplied decals, this gets easier and easier!). Here is the kit at 7.50pm And here it is at 9.10pm Folding wings, moveable rudder, prop and wheels, result! (I had to supply my own brrrm, brrrm noises though) You can buy one here for the Princely sum of £10.50 + P&P: https://www.blackmikemodels.co.uk/products/tiger-model-tm0103-cute-us-navy-f4u-4-corsair-fighter Duncan B
