After discussing Rhinos somewhere near here recently (I forget where and with whom), I dragged my Deimos Pattern Rhino from the Horus Heresy era out at the weekend, just for a bit of fun slapping something together. As usual, I just couldn't do that, as I'm seemingly incapable of doing anything the easy way. Before too long I'd figured out how to put it together in assemblies for painting, as it has an interior as far as the passengers are concerned.
I also noticed that the tail-gate was a bit tight, so tight in fact that it was likely to twist and break. I reamed it out, and it was a bit floppy afterward, so I installed a magnet in the rear lip of the roof, changing the weird shape of the recess to a more symmetrical look in the process. I then sliced a slot in the lip of the tail-gate and embedded a section of needle in there, hiding it with a bit of CA filler.
I also made a couple of pins for the cow-catcher on the front, and added a styrene beam inside to make the slot-in fitting a bit stronger and less likely to bend or droop. You can see the beam in white in the first pic. The instructions told me I couldn't mount the rocket-pack in with the Multi-Melta installation, but as I don't play the game, I thumb my nose that their rules! I've been working on the various seams around the hull this avo, using CA to hide them and give it a more realistic look (hopefully). I've still got a few to do, then I'll paint the interior, glue the lid on, deal with those seams too, then paint the exterior. That's the plan anyway... and when do they ever work out?
