  1. I finally finished another model! It’s the AMtech 1/48 Focke Wulf Ta 183 Hückebein. Apart from the shallow intake, this is a lovely kit and easy to build. Most recently it was re-released by Academy. I just love checkerboard markings but the nose on this model was really a pain because the decal shattered into multiple pieces as I was applying it. I persevered and it doesn’t look too bad after touching it up with paint.
  2. Hello guys! Here's a model I had never posted in here, my second Ta 183 from Academy with markings for Erich Hartmann's aircraft.
  3. Good evening guys, I present you my most recently completed model, Academy's 1:48 Ta 183. The kit was originally from Amtech.
  4. Good night guys, after completing my Mustang, i decided to build next my second Academy Ta 183. It's a lovely kit with good details. Everything fits together nicely. Boxart: Decals: Sprues: Cockpit:
  5. During the recent Blitzenbuild over the Christmas period, given that you only have 24 hours in which to start and finish it, but spread over 3 days, I chose to do the PM Ta183. The build thread is below If you haven't taken part in a Group Build before, I throughly recommend it, picture of completed build below: Let me know what you think. Cheers Pat
  6. Photo taken originally from Facebook, this link was provided by @Homebee. If I ever come across with this kit, I´ll make sure to buy one. Or two. The image shows masks for the canopy and wheels, photoetch parts (Eduard maybe?), and a decal sheet with options for eight aircraft (you can´t leave aside Erich Hartmann, the ace of aces).
  7. The Ta 183 was one of the many aircraft planned during the Third Reich's 1944 "Emergency Fighter Plan." The aircraft never went beyond a wooden mock up. After WW2, Kurt Tank fled to Argentina, where he continued the development of the Ta 183 in what would become the Pulqui 2, Argentina's first indigenous swept winged fighter. Only 5 Pulqui 2s were produced before a coup d'etat took place in 1955, which ordered the cancellation of the fighter. The idea behind this plane was that Argentina joined WW2 on the Axis side, and as a reward it was given several Ta 183s to modernise its air force.
  8. The Pulqui 2 shares its history to the Second World War's Emergency Fighter Program of the Third Reich. Led by Kurt Tank, Focke Wulf designed the Ta 183 anf made a wooden mock up of it, before abandoning the design. When WW2 ended, Tank fled to Argentina, and took with him the plans of the Ta 183. The Pulqui 2 was Argentina's attempt at entering the jet age with a modern, swept wing fighter. Only four or five prototypes were produced when the coup d etat of 1955 happened. The new government decided to not produce the Pulqui 2, and decided to buy the F-86 (used) from the US. As a what if, I bought Academy's reboxing of the Amtech Ta 183, and decided to make it as an Argentinian aircraft. I inspired myself in the camouflage worn by the Mirage IIICJ in Argentina after thr 1982 conflict.
  9. I've been after this kit for a while but wasn't willing to pay the silly prices they often go for – this one was bargain so I couldn't resist. I've seen reviews, but somehow I was expecting a better quality kit that it turns out to be – quite basic in many respects. Built out of the box – with lots of improvements (that bit is just to annoy @MAD STEVE) but no after-market stuff. The biggest improvement is to give it an air-intake, as the kit has a blocked nose. If I had know what a pain it would be, I would just have done a FOD cover. Live and learn. Most of the markings are done with home-made stencils and the seatbelts are printed on paper. The camouflage is a figment of my imagination/derangement. One of the reasons I like building aircraft that didn't exist, is that I don't need to make excuses about 'wrong colour', 'incorrect markings' etc. So, if any rivet-counters have any complaints about factual inaccuracies, please address them to whatever alternate universe this did exist (and preferably one that I don't). If you are interested in the WIP: Thanks for looking and if you aren't Luft-46ed out by now, there is also my Ta-183 build which I bought on the same day as the 509, started building on the same day; and three months later, completed on the same day.
