  1. While I was sorting out the kit rest and spare parts left from massive kit butchery for various Flanker conversions reported in my other topics here, I have realized that I can build my own Flanker version by combining these parts. It will be a kind of creating a Frankenstein, therefore I have called this project as "Flankerstein". I hope you will like it. Serkan
  2. Finally Sukhoi - 27 is done. This is Su-27 in Vietnamese Air Force Scheme. Here is my photos The color is is a little tricky, i have to mix 3 shade of blue and small amount of white to get the result. And this is my 2nd attempt with exhaust stain painting and i spend way more time on the exhaust than the color itself , i'm using clear blue, brown, red over silver to achieve the burning metal and tone down with gun metal I have upload a video i'm painting this kit in my channel, link is in my signature , you guys can check it out.
  3. Hi guys; I finished this Zvezda 1/72 last December. I used Mig acrylics and Eduard PE set. I really liked this kit, but I had difficulties with Mig paints. Here some photos: Cheers;
  4. Su-27S/SK/UB Flankers (72-050 & 48-022) 1:48 & 1:72 Hi-Decal Line There are quite a few Su-27 Flankers models out there, however the decal options in the kits tend to be pretty standard. If you want something a little different the Hi-Decal have a sheet out in 1/72 & 1/48. The options on the sheet are; Su-27S Flanker B "1953" 1st Fighter Sqn, Ethiopian Air Force with kill marking 2010 Su-27S Flanker B "608" 6th Fighter Squadron Eritrean Air Force 2005 Su-27S Flanker B "C110" 13th Fighter Squadron Angolan Air Force 2006 Su-27 SK Flanker B "TS-2701" 11th Fighter Squadron, Indonesian Air Force 2003; Su-27UB Flanker C "I 100" 13th Fighter Squadron Angolan Air Force 200 The sheets provide all the national markings as well as stencils for each option. Registration, sharpness and colour density are all good, with a thin gloss carrier film cut close to the printed areas. Recommended for your next Flanker build if you like a little something different to the kit options. Review sample courtesy of

    F-14A Flanker

This was a stash clearer, using my Italeri and Monogram kits up to feel better about buying the Tamiyas, AMK.... I've always liked this scheme, there's only a handful of photos that I could find including some flying and I have no idea how long the scheme was used. The Italeri fuselage was the base with a lot of the Monogram parts such as landing gear, vertical stabilizers, cockpit details. Aires wheels, Quickboost seats and pitot. Decals are from Two Bobs and Fightertown. Both had good references and Two Bobs has notes from the fellow who came up with the scheme. Colors were Light grey, ghost grey and medium grey and an off white.

  12. Hi All, Its been a while.....PhD is done now (apart from the viva) and as I have no job currently, there's some time for some modelling. In my grand vision, I will eventually own a collection of detailed and accurate fleet of modern Soviet jets. First up is the Su-27 'Flanker B', and I am using the venerable 1/72 Airfix kit. I felt I owed this kit another go, as I had made a gluey mess of it when I was a kid! I also had the PART photo-etch set, a Pavla resin seat and a Pavla vac-form canopy (the Airfix one is too short). When I get some cash I might get some Aires nozzles for it too. The scale plans that I have from www.airwar.ru show that the Airfix kit is very good in terms of accuracy. It has engraved panel lines, but most of them are wrong so what I am doing at the moment is laboriously rescribing correct lines and adding rivet detail, using photos of Masa Narita's 1/32 Flanker online and photos in Model Airplane International. I have rescribed the main upper fuselage and am part-way through the vertical stablisers. I have also started to detail up the nose gear and the front cockpit coaming, and will get going on the main gear soon. Yes, I am a masochist, but I'm actually enjoying this stage! Here are some pics, not too exciting yet I'm afraid but it hopefully gives a flavour of what I'm up to. Any questions/comments welcome. Cheers James
  13. The title says it all. Linden Hill Decals has released again its beatiful 1:48 Arctic Flanker sheet, this time sized for the new Hobby Boss kit. Hobby Boss has released two 1:48 Flankers, early and late. Which of these two I have to pick for an accurate "Arctic" Flanker ? Best,

    1/48 SU-27

Hi all,This is brought about by a SU-27 airport scene, showing the ice and snow began to melt under SU-27, and it’s also the first Russianaircraft to try.Because the hatch connection of HobbyBoss is so terrible ,I consider my canvas cover up, canvas using the recommended method to a friendZhong, who interested can find his tutorials. The scene platform also get lots of proposal of many friends, thanks a lot!
  16. There are two new versions of discontinued sets. RC4823 instead of RC4817 New PE set PE4820 Su27/30 louvres and meshes intended for these two types only. There will be separate sets for Su-33 and Su-35S versions.
  17. Up next on the workbench, the recently released HobbyBoss rendition of the Su-27 Flanker. I will be adding a resin seat and using decals from Begemot. The kit seat is rather lacking in detail so I'll be using a resin replacement. And progress so far involves the construction of several sub-assemblies including the missiles. The R-73s provided in the kit are too long. I had to lop off the segment aft of the last panel line and attach the thrust vectoring controls to the end of the missiles. And the loadout I will be using: 4 x R-27ERs, 2 x R-27ETs and 4 x R-73s. That's the AA-10 Alamo-C, AA-10 Alamo-D and AA-11 Archer in NATO parlance respectively. Mark
  18. So much hype around Zvezda's Flanker kits that I can't resist giving them a shot, especially if there's a group build involved Note: this is the SIXTH straight Russian/Soviet aircraft that I build. I've probably not had a similar streak before for a single country. This kit comes after a 1/48 Eduard I-16, two Trumpeter MiG-29s (S, and SMT), a Zvezda MiG-29S, and a KP MiG-23M. First impressions out of the box: huge aircraft! lots of pieces! Accuracy of this kit seems very well regarded by the BM community so I won't contest that. I do spot some issues: 1) Lack of cockpit detailing (decals, although they are admittedly quite nice) 2) Lack of ANY rivets. C'mon Zvezda, a few would have been nice. This is a huge aircraft and with such big panels, it could have used some rivets here and there. 3) The canopy while not terrible (like some Revell kits) isn't super smooth. I had a similar observation with their MiG-29S. 4) Wheel well detail is very poor, especially for the front: Zvezda basically didn't bother with this. Anyway, let's get started. I used AKAN for the unique Flanker cockpit color which looks spot on The cockpit decal is quite nice although detailing would have been better. The sparse wheel well detail is somewhat evident too.

    Su-27 lights?

Hello, As I'm seeing a Hobbyboss Su-27 Flanker B happening on my desk in the near future, I was wondering if any of you would happen to have more information about the position, color and -most importantly - blinking frequencies of the lights? Many thanks in advance! Cristian
  20. Hello, just few weeks ago i finished Su-27 from Academy. I used HDL Decals, Eduard Pe set, Correct Nose from QB and Pavla K-36M Zvezda, also i added a wires on landing gears and wheelbays. Just like always my Su-27 has got few mistakes (i broken canopy, the color and paint scheme are incorrect. Another mistake is incorrect Nose paint scheme (it should be straight, and i made paint it curve). I hope you will enjoy.
  21. We've got one each of the recently released Hobby Boss Su-27 Flanker and MiG-31 Foxhound at really good prices, as in over 40% off RRP!!! Be quick if you want either! We've restocked on some of the offers from last week, such as the Eduard Fw190 Royal class and Fw190F-8 kits, as well as the 1/48 X-1. There's no more Drakens or Bf109F profipacks though, as the supplier ran out pretty quick. Have a look on our website now for a bargain! thanks Mike
  22. The new product presents full-open nozzles, as we can see on real aircraft shut down engines. The nozzles have correct scale size and fit 1/48 Hobby Boss Su-27 family. There are molded parts as is. The same parts painted to accent details. Nozzle on 1/48 Hobby Boss Su-27. The set will be available in a week.
  23. Hey Guys Just got the Trumpeter Su-27UB 1/72. The kit looks great and instructions are ok. But when i checked the paint and marking guide things got confusing. I mean... The Intermediate Blue (H72) looks gray and the Pearl Grey (H74) looks too blue. Pearl Grey doesn't even exist on Mr. Hobby color range. Looking some walkarounds i realise that intermediate blue isn't the base color of the plane as the trumpeter instructions http://www.trumpeter-china.com/Uploads/201509/560b2eb547e36.jpg I need some help. Where i can get any real and good color scheme for this Su-27UB Flanker C? Thanks
  24. Hi everyone !!! After a very long time i'm back again . This is my latest project . The Trumpeter kit is a very good one with very nice detail and loads of weapons . My previous attempts to paint the model failed but this one is the final . I still have to put the missiles but from what you will see you get the picture . Painting freehand as always . I hope you like it PA160191 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160192 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160193 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160195 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160196 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160197 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160200 by nionios_v, on Flickr PA160201 by nionios_v, on Flickr
  25. Szervusztok! My F-4ETM is in finish, so I looking for the next challange. I bought it one year ago and after this one year salivation I preparing to start the buildig. Also, the Summer Santa give me a box os Rus. A2G armament. I choose the other painting variant, this a/c belonging to a testing and training unit. I still hesitating on the arming. I going to add some strike congig, but have not decided yet, exactly what. Maybe that one from the box art? Or do a Wild Weasel? In Wild Weasel rola MKK carries up to six(!) X-31 missiles. If not all of the six, but I would happily mount four X-31s just to make it looks like a real strike-fighter. http://chinese-military-aviation.blogspot.hu/p/attack-aircraft.html Also here is written, that MKKs go to patrol with R-77. On this way I think about such a loadout that contains the two ECM pods on the wingtips, two R-37, two R-77 and four X-31, but I am not sure if it is a "clever" choose? Atleast is it may possible at this unit... SU-30MKK serving in other Chineese units I also could find such loadouts: So is it possible that 2+2+2+4 config? Anyway, has anyone references for SU-30MKK cockpit? I tried Google, but how should I know I found exactly MKK cockipt (not MKI or whatever) ?
