  5. Hello Everyone.... Shall we give this one a second try ? If yes Im proposing the Golden wings of Aviation group build take two. This would cover anything Aviation related. Starting from 12 November 1918, 24 hours after the Armistice went into effect. It will end 24 hours prior to September 1st 1939. Any aircraft used, designed, or operated by any Nation’s Military. This would include World War One aircraft still being used in this timeframe. Also includes World War Two aircraft that were into the advanced testing phase or in squadron use as of August of 1939. This build does include civilian aircraft types as well. Want to build a Spirit of St.Louis or maybe Amelia Earhart’s aircraft those both count. All civilian airliners used in this era would count. The aircraft used by explorers such as Admiral Byrd also qualify. Not to mention any civilian types that were pressed into military service in places like Spain, Ethiopia, and China among other locations. I have decide to add other modes of travel and military equipment. So the options are now expanded to Automotive, Tractors, Railroad, Ships, and Armor of the period. Please ask if you have questions, I will research it and let you know if it qualifies. One offs and odd examples greatly encouraged to be built. If there is an written example, blueprint, or a prototype of something I will pretty much allow it. If anyone is interested in co-hosting please say so. 1. corsairfoxfouruncle (Host) 2. @Col. 6. Hello All, I finished this in February and it's just been published in the May issue of SAM. This is the Airfix kit in a modified scheme from the kit: I've changed the serial number using a homemade mask so the roundels with anchors can be used. I've added a fair amount of PE by Eduard, a resin engine by Vector and some resin navigation lights by Quickboost. The necessary splash guards for the windows are fabricated from an old drop F-15 tank. The finish is mainly Mr Color 104 Gun Chrome. The kit was quite hard work, mainly due to the extensive clean up required for all of the parts and the sub-par moulding, but it does make for a nice model. Comments are very welcome Jon
  7. Silver Wings from Poland is to release a 1/32nd Gloster Gauntlet Mk.II resin kit - ref. 32-023 Source: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/86884-gloster-stable/&tab=comments#comment-1235445 V.P.
  8. Hi all, can I pick your brains re VAT please. Now that GB has left the EEC I presume that if goods are ordered from within the EE, Poland in this case, that we are now liable to pay VAT & of course the dreaded Parcelforce handling charge, is this correct? As I understand it VAT is not liable for goods under £135 unless a gift, so if I were to order 1 of the to be produced to order Silver Wings kits (£95 + P&P ) then no VAT would be payable, but if I were to order 3 or 4 then it will be. Can any one confirm this? If it is the case I wonder if Simon will take a request for 4 kits & accept payment and send seperatly. TIA Rick

  11. Hello everyone. By no means a recent kit, but another from the loft which really hasn't fared well. Fitting the upper wing was always a problem and sure enough a recent look inside the box showed that after its' last showing the wing had come away, together with struts and a tangle of nylon monofilament. I don't think I have the patience to re-build it so it stays in its box until another day. The photographs will have to suffice - fortunately I took quite a few, including a record of the construction. I'm a bit sad about it really as I was pleased with the result. It was a nice kit, in spite of all the resin (not my favourite medium), and all the markings were sprayed using the masks supplied. I tried their Fury after this and really struggled with it, which made me appreciate how good the Gamecock was in comparison. Haris

  15. Hello everyone. This is my first WiP posting, and I'm using it as a means to encourage me to get the job done! All the raw materials are ready: Rummaging in the loft, I found the instruction sheet from my last attempt, when it was first released back in the sixties. Saw it in the window of the model shop which was conveniently next to my primary school. Had to have it - those markings did it for me. Am I weird or does anyone else keep all their instruction sheets?! My next posting could take a while! Haris
  16. Hi, Over the past few weeks I've put this little collection of 1/72 scale 1930's fighters of the RAF together. They are a mixed bag of Airfix and Matchbox kits, some old, and some new. I must admit, they have all been a pleasure to build. Some of the kit decals couldn't be rescued owing to their +40 years age, but on the whole they went on ok. Additional decals came from friends half-used sheets. Thank you John and Chris. These aircraft certainly add a little colour to the display shelf. I have a couple more to build, but so far the collection includes: Airfix - Demon, Bulldog, Gladiator, and a Gauntlet (converted from a Gladiator) Matchbox - Siskin, and Fury. I am in great admiration of those who can add the bracing wires.... you will see that I didn't. Life's too short, and well beyond my skill! ;-) Thanks for looking,
  17. Hello everyone. After more rummaging around I've found the other 1/72 Silver Wings planes from some years back. I remember being really pleased with the Bulldogs, which has got to be one of my favourite Airfix kits. The trainer version was a simple conversion (no aftermarket extras!) with repositioned wings, new tail and metal panels from plasticard, and a hole in the decking for the second seat. I've included a few extra photos showing the differences. I did the same with the Snipe using Toko's kit - I don't think they were Roden at that point. I've just noticed a few wilting wires in the photos which I didn't catch earlier. The Aeroclub Gamecock unfortunately has suffered a bit but is repairable. Looking at these again has definitely given me the taste for another at some point this year. I was sure I'd built a Fury, but maybe that explains why I've got four Matchbox kits in the Stash! Perhaps I should try one of them next. I built up a lot of experience building these kits as well as having great fun, and with new materials available now it would be a nice challenge to work on another. Thanks for the many positive comments and likes from the previous posting. Haris http://harisali.co.uk/
