I should have probably put this in the ‘tools and tips’ area of the forum, but felt it of more of use to the Sci-Fi modellers.
Handy tip for detailing up Sci-Fi kits, especially for various nozzles/exhausts/verniers.
Picked up this tip from watching Japanese modellers on Youtube.
IC DIP/DIL Socket connectors.
You need the ones with the round pins, and with a bit of careful cutting, you’re left with these little nozzle type things. Drill a hole in the plastic and just pop in, no need to even paint them if you don’t want, as they have a nice copper/gold inside surrounded with silver.
Ideal for the smaller nozzles, or perhaps in groups of 3 inside a larger nozzle.
Next up is a tip of my own devising, from hunting through Amazon for greeblies with a ‘modellers eye’.
Similar to above, but using cable ‘ferrules’.
Perfect for modelling use as they are already nozzle like in appearance. Easily cut down to size if needed as the metal is very thin. Again, just drill a hole the right size and pop in.
Just pop onto Amazon or Ebay and type in Ferrules or IC connectors.
Any other ‘found bits’ to share?
