Hello fellows, This is my last project: the Spanish mini-submarine Tiburón ("shark") class SA-51. (From wikipedia) With a crew of five men, Tiburon-class submarines were intended to carry out week-long missions, would be ideal for operating in shallow waters and carrying special forces behind the enemy lines. They were equipped with a greater accommodation than the preceding Foca-class, with a bathroom and two bunk beds, which allowed the crew to rest in "hot bed" shifts. The design was based upon the German minisubmarine Hai-class. The submarines had two diesel engines (115 HP) and two electric engines (110 HP). The armament was two torpedoes. The sail was larger than the previous class which helps in the surveillance tasks. The submarines were armed with two 533 mm tubes capable of carrying G7a or G7e torpedoes. The Tiburón-class had only two units, SA-51 and SA-52, but despite an improved version of the previous class, never got to join the navy. The submarines were in the Naval Week of Barcelona in 1966, one of them, SA-52, arrive from Cartagena on her own. The SA-52 come back to the Isaac Peral Naval Base in Cartagena. On May 9, 1986, the SA-51 submarine was donated to the La Caixa Foundation for its science museum, now called "CosmoCaixa", in Barcelona. The submarine is on display in front of the museum entrance, as you can see in the next picture: (The vertical clear parts, are intended to see the inside...). The kit is made from Mikro-Mir, in 1/144. A too small scale, since the real submarine is barely 19 metres. Hence, it was a quick build... All the parts needed to be sanded, and you have to be very caerful, because the plastic is very weak. I could'nt use the PE parts (too small...), But, anyway, I'm glad for the result, and having this little sub at home. I hope you like it. Thanks for watching, ...and your comments will be welcomed! A complete repaint of my previous attempt to model this kit using both heads from inside the kit contents. The previous paint scheme left the sharks looking more like the colour of dolphins. thanks for looking in -
No one here gets out alive.... The now hard to find 1/18 Great White Shark & Diver Diorama model from Pegasus Hobbies, turned into a diorama with a bit of a difference to get the most from the kit boxes contents as opposed to having to waste the unused alternative choice of head posture. The kit is supplied to be modelled as the shark and diver/cage as 2 separate free standing standalone pieces, using a choice of snapping jaw head or dormant jaw head. A few alterations to the diver and cage to get the blood splattering reminder of the might, power and aggression of these amazing beasts right up the top of the food chain.

Picked up at Telford last year for £30, here is the vinyl and poly combination kit of the 1/18 Great white Shark and Diver / diving cage model. It is a fine model and a bit of a refresher to work on in-between the sci-fi stuff I have out on the bench. My intended final model will utilise both the optional heads, as the below pictures explain. I expect to have to go through at least 3 stages of filling and sanding/priming, however these photos only run through to the second stage of filling. The diver is rubber and was boiled for 5 mins and then wired into his new leg pose and had his arms cut, manipulated and filled into the new arm pose. The spare head will be used as shown, poking up from within the cage flesh chewing fun bye for now - John

Hello All, For a long time I've been pottering along with a Frog-spawn Blackburn Shark in the background of my other projects, and I thought I'd bring it to the front of the bench this weekend. It's the Modelcraft re-pop: For a spawn, the moulding isn't too bad (although the struts needed a fair bit of un-warping and there are some short shots on the more delicate parts) and the decal sheet is nice, including an extra Canadian example (503). The outer rings of the roundels are a touch too narrow, but I will be using them. If I can find some matching paint I may paint a larger circle before applying them. For reasons that escape me, I have four Frog/spawn Blackburn Sharks and three Westland Wallaces in my stash. Not quite sure how that happened, but it's a good thing I like English inter-war biplanes! As you can see from the picture above, the cockpit detailing consists of a classic Frog plain floor with some comfy-looking chairs for the pilot and observer I have already cleaned up the struts and stuck together the wings, and I've replaced the flat moulded-in engine with something a bit more realistic. The wing struts needed a lot of cleaning up and test fitting, and I did it twice before I was happy enough. I'm going for wings folded on this one to hide the tragically thick trailing edges, which I will thin before assembly next time. I decided to busy-up the cockpit with some stretched sprue and card. I am working from the pictures of the "Canadian Wings" book on the Shark, which are the only pictures of the interior that I have seen. They show the cockpit of a target towing version, so some of the brackets may be for storing drogues! However, it looks busy now, so that's good enough for me. Thanks for looking, Adrian
