  1. Hello everyone... I built this and its sister ship in the Sci-fi/Movie-TV group build. This and its sister Y-wing are 1/144th Bandai kits. I built this to represent Blue Four from Rogue one. The paint scheme isn't authentic to the movie but i like it. Oh well i’m not the biggest talker in the world so here is my X-wing. Questions, comments, and or thoughts ? If you're interested this is the link to the build log. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235061108-a-little-blue-and-green/ Dennis
  2. Hi! This is not the Bandai kit which I find too big for my taste. It's a vinyle toy from Hasbro found on ebay for around 10£ (S&H included!). It's around 12 cm high. The details are pretty decent. Although almost static I decided to cut off all the joints and replace them with sections of plastic tubes. This way I was able to give it the pose I wanted the droid to have. The figure stood in that state for a bunch of months on my bench until recently I decided to start the paint job as I was painting my Death Star. The paint job is almost done. Pictures to come pretty soon. Ciao Iwik
  3. As the title says I am going to be tackle in Revells Rogue One AT ACT. Remember when these first came out I noticed that they were "click and play" and I thought they were not going to be something I'd waste my time on. Anyway just before Christmas Lidl's had a few models in there from Star Wars which were only a £9.99 so I thought I'd take the chance. The first thing I did was some major plastic surgery on the head to get the sound module out and the LED lighting.
  4. I pre-ordered this straight away after seeing the film, and it's just turned up today. I wasn't sure about the design when it was first revealed, but it's really grown on me, especially after seeing it in the movie (despite the fact that it wasn't really featured that prominently). Before I get any plastic cut, I'll show a quick run through of the box contents. Sprue A1 One solar panel, half the main body, the hatches and the two laser bolts (and the triumphant return of Mr Flatty, this time in TIE pilot disguise) Sprue A2 The other solar panel and the other half of the body, together with the clear parts (hard to see here, I know) and the seated pilot Sprue B The lower frames for the panels and the wing pivots Sprue C Upper frames, cockpit details and the front and back of the fuselage Sprue SWB-15 The last sprue's for the stand. No textured base this time. Just a plain square like the ones that come with the figures. I don't know why they didn't include the sand base that came with the TFA X-Wing, as that would have worked for Scarif. Hope it's not a sign of cost cutting by Bandai Fuselage details. Essentially the same as the regular TIE fighters Albeit with an extended body Nice details on the panel frames Open canopy frame if you don't want to use the clear part And the clear parts themselves Very nice ribbed detail on the solar panels The pilot looks nice. Maybe not up to the standard of some of the earlier ones, but well detailed all the same. Shame there's only one as this is a two man ship, but you probably wouldn't see much of the guy in the back anyway And of course the star of the kit... Usual Bandai stickers and decals On top of that there's the regular style instruction manual, and that's the lot. Everything looks excellent and there shouldn't be any issues with assembly. The most important thing for me with this kit is that they got the scale right, as the Striker is a lot larger than a regular TIE. The real one's meant to be just over 17m long and this scales out pretty much exactly to that. To give you some idea of the size, this is the wing frame next to a TIE Interceptor. The Interceptor in this case is the Finemolds version, which is a little underscale, but it gives you a rough idea One last thing I'll point out, not really pertaining to the kit itself. I ordered this from Tokyo Model Detective, and it's the first time I've used that store. Anyone else that's ordered from there will know they don't have a shipping calculator on the webstore. You have to pay for the kit up front, then wait for a second invoice to be sent showing the shipping cost. It's only then that you know how much the kit will cost in total. I paid around £16 for the kit and, since these are going for about £25 inc. delivery on ebay, I was hoping the shipping would be no more than £7-8. I was somewhat surprised then, when the invoice came through, and it was £14, meaning I've had to pay around £30 in total. That's maybe not a big deal for some but, until the TMD site shows the full price inc. shipping, I'll be sticking with ebay and amazon. I'll get the build underway soon. Andy
  5. Hello! It has been an age since I finished anything so I wanted to restore my mojo with a quick and easy build. This is Revell's 1:100 U-Wing which I have re-painted and added a few small details to. The cockpit was detail painted as well as the crew figures. I added a door gunner and some figures to the base. It was completed in a weekend and was great fun to do. Hope you like it!
  6. This time last year I started off a year of droid builds with BB-8, so I thought I'd get my first build of the year going in a similar way, this time with the unquestionable star of Rogue One; K-2SO Before I cut any plastic, I'll show a quick run through of the sprues, which won't take long as there's only two (okay, three if you count the base). You don't get the usual large sprue of vinyl joints either, just six small ball joints, as K2's limbs don't really suit that type of connection. First up sprue A. The multi-coloured one for this kit, with black for the body parts, gunmetal grey for the joints, Light grey for the shoulders and clear for the eyes and the round pins that are used to reinforce the elbows and knees Sprue B. All black, with the legs, head, hands and other smaller parts The standard figure base. You also get an optional support rod (the long piece on the left side of sprue A), one end of which clips into the base, and the other into a hole in his back The small set of vinyl joints for the hips, shoulders, neck and waist Some close-up shots: Chest and back panels Hips Legs Head dome This is a nice one piece slide moulding. There's a seam across the top that will need cleaning up, but it's nothing major. A quick swipe with a sanding stick will deal with it. Eyes Hands No finger articulation, as Bandai sometimes do with their Gundam kits, but that would have probably made them over scale anyway. These look fine to me Shoulders These are fully engraved, so you won't have to use the decals, which is just as well as the decals are the usual Bandai type with dotty, half-tone printing Elbow and Knee joints These have some nice tooth detail on the insides. On the 'real' droid the joints are fully open through the centre, but Bandai have included some clear inserts to strengthen the joint. I'll be leaving these out if possible, but I'll probably have to glue the limbs in one position Standard decal/sticker choice Regular Bandai instruction booklet more soon Andy
  7. Here's a build I'm doing of K-2SO I'm using a Jakks Pacific Big Fig and adding parts to make it better, giving it a better paint job and changing the pose. After a lot of sanding and filing of the seams I gave it a coat of primer. Then I got busy with the lathe and machined some aluminium rod down to replace the hinges and joints. The first picture shows the replacement joints I made and then there's a couple of pictures of the old joints cut off and replaced with the new ones.
  8. First finished build for 2017, this is Bandai's 1/12 K-2SO from Rogue One. Even if you haven't seen it yet, it's not really giving much away to say he pretty much steals the film. In many ways he's even better than 3P0 and R2. Bandai's kit is for the most part as good as all their previous releases, although the plastic is quite soft which makes cleaning up the sprue gates (which aren't as well hidden as some of the earlier kits) a little harder. I tried to mach the weathering to the real K2 as much as possible, using hairspray chipping and various washes to build up the grime on his plating. The base is a rough representation of the Jedha landscape. Full build here Thanks for looking Andy
  9. These guys aren't your average monochromatic troopers, baby! They have some color. I'm glad I got the pair, they're slightly different, as one is the squad leader directing fire.
  10. The Imperial Hover tank attacked by Rebels in Jedha is based on a CRV(T) Sheilder chassis: Accurate Armour do a 1:35 Sheilder but its out of production at the moment, go here if you want them to repop it! https://accurate-armour.com/our-products/135th-kits/k087
