  1. The robot Maria from Metropolis, kit is by X PLUS : Pretty much snapped together straight out of the box,one thing to be wary of,the sprue lugs are massive, and leave a raised part on the seams ,so that was a bit of a pain. The paint scheme for the robot says gold, but she would just end up looking like C3POs Mum, so went for a brushed metal and steel industrial look, added some lighting to the base. Very Happy to have this iconic design on my model shelf, The lovely box art
  2. Having just finished the Sternail earlier today, I was eager to start something else. At the Southwell show last year, I met a man who sold me some kreiger armoured fighting suit stuff. A part started Gustav and bits for a Heinrich. I opened the box, checked all the parts (arms and legs part assembled) and thought, Hmmm, put it together, paint it, done. Too easy. Or...... I raided the spares again. Found the remains of an Airfix Gazelle I built decades ago. The suits, as seen above, are based on the Hughes 500 fuselage. So, what if I use a Gazelle? The Hughes models were 1/48th. this is 1/72nd. So I might get away with a 1/35th figure inside. Or, go for 1/20th and make it an automaton. Arms and legs etc? I have these cheap Japanese robot kits in weird small scales, I may as well adapt & use these parts. And a search through the rapidly depleting spares boxes gave me this little lot. I'll have to see what I can do with them. Let the fun begin! Stay tuned and thanks for looking in, Pete
  3. HI guys, some picts of a job make 1 year ago enjoy
  4. I started working on T08A2 / R3000 spider tank from Ghost In The Shell movie a year ago. For those who haven't seen the movie - I would highly recommend, it's one of the best sci-fi anime movies. Scale 1:20 (roughly ) One of the biggest problems that I had from the start was non existence of blue prints, or actually anything that would be close to that. That's why scale is approximate So for "blueprints" I ended up with a few things: Screenshots from the movie Smaller resin model from ebay, which isn't proper quality Someone actually made a model from that kit on this forum: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2214-spider-tank-r-3000/page-3?hl=gits Someone made a 3D digital model, which I managed to aquire. It isn't very accurate, I would say it follows movie almost... So yeah, none of these were precise. Actually, even frames from the movie sometimes contradict itself. To make matters worse I wanted to make a model which could move, so following sizes and strength of mechanical components had to be taken into consideration as well... Initial idea was to make the shell from a styrofoam, but during last year I bought a 3D printer, which came very handy when making these complex shapes.
  5. So, what are you doing at 1045 on Monday? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08crt5z I first read this book about fifty years ago. When I heard the ad for the show today I found myself driving along with my jaw agape! I am SO looking forward to this!
  6. hay, heres photos of my kotobukiya super robot wars serena kit. I used gaia metal finish paints gaia white lacquers the purple was a black gloss base, then i put some color changing pigment( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEPTUNE-CHAMELEON-FLIP-PAINT-PIGMENT-ULTRA-VIOLET-TO-NEON-BLUE-RL71-MATCH-/251838852562 ) into gaia gloss clear. upgrades... i used metal thrusters and i used 2 kotobukiya "beast" swords. fun build, the photos dont do the color changing justice also cant do a proper photo set up as we are having building work done at the moment.
  7. just something small to start off with. its a Studio Mcvay 28mm figure pair( tho the robot is actually 50mm). when i first saw it reminded mo of the robot fron the old silent movie Metropolis, also had a pit of The day the earth stood still about it. Hope you all like it
  8. Hi, We are in the process of putting together a kickstarter for a collectible kit and/or miniature for tabletop gaming. We are here to get you guys involved and give us some useful feedback on these our first pass ideas at a Mecha/Vehicle Our initial aim is to produce a 3D printed kit, modular build, with a range of accessories, weapons, add-ons etc to make your choice as customizable as possible. At this stage we haven't decided on 15mm or 28mm, but we would like to go as large as we could to carry across some serious detailing in the print Attached are our first passes; very loose ideas, and we would appreciate opinions and feedback from you guys as to which you find the most appealing.. which aren't and why ? Are we swimming against the tide by not going for the standard Mechwarrior blocky design or are you guys crying out for something a bit more steampunk, outlandish and exotic?
