Might as well make a start. Not got enough on the go Using the hasegawa limited edition boxing decals for either: The last demo flight from vf101. Quite dirty and lots of repainted bits visible in this retro scheme - https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/5615347 Or the tps sunset scheme. Cruise weary paint job with fresh painted tails. Sister bird 103 had the same tail markings but in colour on a retro gull/white paint job. https://tvrphoto.photoshelter.com/image/I0000h1b4pwRhduM Not sure which one to do. Perhaps both? One could be open and the other closed as plenty of removable panels on the FM kit. What you guys reckon? 101 or 31? Pics of kit(s) and decal sheets later. Bye for now... Edit - decided to do both!
Hi Gents, Hope you’re not fed up with these by the way... Anyways here is the 8th completed cat from my hobbyboss project thats been running just over the past year or so. WIP link at the bottom of this post for those that haven’t seen it or want to find out more. This started out as a B kit and was turned into a late A (for the naca gun gas vents) It is dressed in old Hasegawa decals from the ‘Independence’ boxing. Plane depicted is the Commanding officer of vf-21 Freelancers circa 1991. Wearing the new mission model aircraft shades with their metallics too on the hot parts from @TIGER HOBBIESLIMITED Some mig ammo metal & crystal colours used for details along with oils brushers for weathering. Reference Mission paints, look out for a separate post in the paint section about these in more detail, hopefully by the end of the week. This is now my third build in mission paints (one ‘straight colours’ F-16, an NMF mig-15, and then this more complex paintjob using the transparent medium) and I am really impressed with them. So much that the next cat in the WIP will be wearing mission gull grey, a 1983 Slugger. Also due to their performance I have recently bought a load of RAF & RLM shades for other future builds from our own @Duncan B with his very efficient and well priced webshop The kit was heavily reworked using aftermarket, spares, and some of my resin upgrades I have mastered combining the best parts from other tomcats available. Full list after the pics because that’s what you came here to see and not read more waffle! Scaling pic and products used: Just missions for main paintjob less detail shades: Nose/front area: Tails: Uppers: Other details close up: Jet pipes: Undersides: A couple with the canopy off, will be secured on for good later. Cockpit adequate when viewing through glazing Sorry for all the pictures! So the build spec: Base kit alterations: -RIO footstep plate removed -Fuel dump pipe drilled out. -Tacan blade made smaller. -TCS lens drilled out. -Glide slope lights drilled out. -Drop tanks moved back and outwards. Homemade decals for wing glove vane panel lines. (So much easier than cutting them out or scribing) One off photo etch made to my measurements by PPD for formation light strip panels. Aftermarket: Reskit wheels. Brassin Missiles & RBF tags Aires tubes and nozzles. Quickboost front U/C doors. Attack Sqn Ventral fins. Other plastic kit parts either as they are or mastered include; Hasegawa: -RIO wedge/canopy strut base. -seats with etch -cockpit decals -afterburner faces with etch -sparrow pylons -engine cowls and fairings. Finemolds: -Arrestor hook and base (better detail & panel lines/rivets. -pitot. I think thats about it... Cheers for looking! Lots more waffle in this WIP, this freelancer is from hafway down page 17 through to 19 or so. Untill next time,
