  1. This is the 1/48th scale Tamiya P47-D Thunderbolt Razorback. The model was painted with Aeromaster acrylics with the exception of the canopy frame, which was painted with Xtracolor enamel. Artist gouache was used for weathering and to highlight the panel lines. The seat belts are from Eduard. The decals are Eagle Strike set number 48054. American Jabos. The markings are for Yankee Tarheel. Flown by Lt. H. I. Price. 510 F.S. 405 F.G. Thanks for looking, Joe
  2. This is the Tamiya 1/48th scale Douglas A-1H Skyraider in What If Fleet Air Arm markings. I added a Eduard Zoom set for the cockpit, Quickboost resin sets for Pylons, Gun Barrels, Boot Cockpit Enclosure and Antennas. An assortment of after market and kit decals all in 1/48th scale were used. The model is painted with Mr Hobby Paint in Extra Dark Sea Grey and Sky. This is the link for the WIP thread Thank you for looking, Joe.
  3. This is an r/c version of HMS Sheffield, that I built, not to be confused with the other one which I have in the build section, this one was 1/128 scale so smaller than the 1/96 version I have started.
  4. Hi folks whilst I kick myself over the Gannet I thought perhaps I would discuss the Hein, I made the kit many years ago and as it was available with Revell, I decided to re-aquaint myself with this little fighter and recently bought it, my experience of building it was a little disapointing, some of the parts needed to be cleaned of flash, but the sprue attached to the fuselage halves was very heavy and requires model rail cutters to remove it and sanding down. The cockpit canopy was a poor fit, also the pilot was almost unrecognisable, I decided to have the undercarraige retracted so that meant fitting the doors, no mean feat as they required sanding and shaping to fit. So having said all that it does make a very nice model. I will post photo's soon.

    Tornado F3

Ok folks I am going to post a photo of a tornado f3 the photo is the only one I have, the trick is, is it a real one, the photo is vague as it was a night shot, also the photo is old. Cheers

  7. Tamiya 1/48th scale Bristol Beaufighter MkVI. I made this model when it was originally released on 1997. This was made straight out if the box, including decal seat belts. I've just replaced the rigging with EZ-Line. I forgot that this is a fairly big model with with a wingspan of 370mm and 270mm long. Thanks for looking, Joe
  8. This is the Hasegawa 1/48 scale Sabre Mk4. I built this when it was first released in 2004. Built straight out of the box, including decals with just the seat belts added. Aeromaster acrylic paint was used for the camouflage colours. Markings are for No 112 Squadron RAF. Thank you for looking, Joe.
  9. This is the 1/48th scale Tamiya Vought F4U-1A Corsair. The markings are from Superscale Decals sheet number 48-501. 'Big Hog' VF17, USS Bunker Hill. Aeromaster paint was used for the main colours. After looking at photos of Corsairs coming into land, I changed the following:- I cut the main undercarriage into two sections, and rejoined them using a small diameter twist drill bit as an extension to represent the undercarriage hanging down. The hook was lowered. I cut the rudder from the fuselage, and reattached it slightly to the right which compensated for the engine torque during landings. The horizontal stabiliser was removed and reattached slightly up. I used lead foil to represent the pilots harness over his shoulders. The Eduard Corsair zoom set was used for the instrument panel, cockpit detail and some of the undercarriage detail. Lowered flaps option come with this kit, so I didn't need to touch these. The base is Perspex, painted black from underneath. I made this model when it was first released in 2000. I still don't know why I didn't do anything with the propeller. Maybe I should have waited for the motorised version that followed shortly after. Thank you for looking. Joe

  14. Tamiya Israel Tank Tiran 5 1:35th scale What first attracted me to Tamiyas Tiran 5 was the box art. Going across the desert in a cloud of dust, the IDF Tiran looked all tank. The Tiran 5 was adapted from T55s captured during the six day war in 1967. Using Tamiya Acrylic paints for the entire build, I began by applying a white primer from a Tamiya rattle can. When this was dry, the identification line along the barrel & the V on the turret side was masked. Mixing XF49 & XF66 in equal amounts for the main hull colour I sprayed the mixed paint all over the primed parts. The road wheels were masked using round masking tape disc. Then the outer rim sections were sprayed XF85 Rubber Black. The tracks were painted XF84 dark iron before attaching them to the road wheels. Gluing the tracks to the road wheels with Revell Contacta adhesive gave them a sagging effect. After applying the decals, the model was dusted over with Mig Productions Pigment. To finish off, a Tamiya weathering set was used to hi-light edges with lighter colours. I used items such as kit bags, sleeping bags & sleeping rolls from the Tamiya Modern Military Equipment set to fill the storage baskets. I know this was not accurate, but the baskets looked better full. Thank you for looking

  19. This is the Tamiya 1/350th scale Japanese Navy Submarine I-400 with Tamiya Detail up etched parts set. Painted with Tamiya acrylics and white ensign enamels. The I-400 was constructed as a submergible aircraft carrier able to launch 3 Aichi M6M1 Seiren aircraft. The intention was to attack the U.S. East Coast and the Panama Canal. Although never used in combat, the I-400 remains the largest conventional submarine ever built. Thank you for looking. Joe
  20. Hasegawa 1/48th scale Mitsubishi F1M2 Zero Observation Seaplane type 11 "Pete" With this kit I used the Photo-Etched parts set from Hasegawa. Thank you for looking.
  21. This is the Tamiya 1/48th Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik. It's built straight from the box. The only addition was the pilots seat harness. All the paints used were Tamiya acrylics. The wing joint was so good, I painted the fuselage and wings completely before gluing them together. Thank you for looking.
  22. I made this for my son back in 1986 as a Christmas present. It consisted of an airfield base, control tower and a hardened aircraft shelter all made of plywood and of simple construction (child proof). The models ( not child proof) were, a Tornado GR1, Puma and a Skyvan by Airfix. Tornado F3, Hawk 200 and a Chinook by Matchbox. The ground equipment and figures are a combination of Airfix and Hasegawa. Not 100% accurate when it comes to the Shorts Skyvan in RAF colours.
  23. Trumpeter 1/48th scale U.S. Navy Grumman F9F-2P Panther This kit was built straight from the box (including decals). Only etched seat belts were added. The model was painted with Aeromaster acrylic Sea Blue. The base is resin PSP painted with Humbrol Metalcote with yellow & red lines applied on top. This was then mounted on a wooden base. Thank you for looking.
  24. I am new to Britmodeller and I am hoping to get constructive criticism on the kits I have built and painted so far. I need to work out how to post the pictures on here but I have been doing this for about a year and a half and I enjoy it very much. I lost my son in an accident almost two years ago and I fell into this hobby as a means of distraction, little did I know how much it would take hold of me. So,please be honest and constructive. I am hoping to improve my skills and maybe one day enter competitions. Thank you
