  1. Seen in the Gustav Jung (aka M. Wolfpack Design) Facebook a 3D render from a future 1/35th General Atomics MQ-1B Predator (early version), reported "In progress". But for wich company ? Usually Korean when reported by G. Jung. To be followed. Source: https://www.facebook.com/gustav.jung.7/posts/4928657287228780 V.P.
  2. Downen Scaled Replicas is to release a 1/48th General Atomics Avenger kit Source: https://downenscaledreplicas.com/shop?olsPage=products%2F148-general-atomics-avenger V.P.
  3. Continuing with my series of UAV drones this is the Platz 1/72 MQ-1B Predator. This kit was a pleasure to build and when together very quickly. The only issue I had was with the decals. They were printed by Cartograf and while I know most people love them I had problems with both adhesion and silvering, which I guess are 2 side of the same problem. But I prevailed and here it is; This is a pretty small aircraft so to put it in prospective and to add some color to this otherwise monochromatic post, here is is next to an RQ-4B Blobal Hawk Next up is the Platz RQ-4N AKA the Navy MQ-4C Triton. Enjoy.
  4. This was my first vinyl kit, I picked it up last year off eBay for a very cheap price as there was a few parts missing. It was based on the Predator 2 figure however I decided I wanted to build it as a classic Predator from the first movie so I scratched built the shoulder plasma cannon from old aircraft bits and beefed up his spear. I also added some old number 11 scalpel blades that I made into his arm blades and then I added some LED and SMD lighting into his laser sight helmet unit and his left forearm electronic panel. I then made a small swamp like diorama out of some foliage that I picked up off eBay and made the roots and tree branches out of hot glue gun sticks and melted hot glue strands to make the root system and the final coat of outdoor varnish to give it a wet look. It was an interesting build, I primed the vinyl with grey Stynylrez which covered the vinyl really well. I then used various Vallejo paints to give the effect. The trickiest job was hand painting all of the netting on the body suit. I hope you enjoy all of the pictures!
  5. These are two recent completed builds that I previously posted, however now that they are on the shelf together I decided to do an Alien vs Predator photo shoot just for fun. You can see my finished Halcyon Alien 3 build here and you can see my finished Billiken Predator build here.
  6. Hi Britmodellers, A quick intro - I'm Peter, I'm new here, and this is my first post. I've been around plastic and glue for 20+ years, and by far my favourite subjects to depict are Movies and Sci-Fi. I've built Batmobiles, USS Enterprises, Deloreans and Aliens. I have a strange pull towards the 1990s kits from AMT/Ertl and Halcyon. They're not the best moulds, or even the best plastics, but they were the things I lusted after when I was 15 - especially the Halcyon PVC kits like the Facehuggers and Chestbursters. In the last few years, I've dabbled in 28mm figures - Warhammer 40k and Fantasy, and I'd like to think I take the skills and techniques I've learned in painting tiny scales across to 'giant' models of 1/9th and 1/24th scales. I found this site via Twitter, and Rob's Aoshima Back to the Future build, which is coming along really nicely - I'm looking forward to seeing the final result! So - onto my own ambitious project! A few weeks ago I found a couple of my old Halcyon kits in the stash. A 1/9th Attacking Alien, and a 1/9th Predator from Predator 2 (the Danny Glover one in the city). My favourite moment in that film is a throwaway piece of scenery: in the Predator's trophy cabinet on the spacecraft is an Alien skull - a perfect universe connector, and one that has spawned the whole AvP franchise - but how can I get both of these kits to interact with each other? I started with the Predator. It's an awesome kit - standard brittle styrene, with soooo many mould lines and ejection pin marks to clean up. There are 43 separate dreadlocks, and when I fit them, they have to go in a specific order, and have a very small tolerance in angle. I'll be painting them well before I glue them on! The Alien will be involved as well, although at this point, I'm not sure quite how. There are two heads on the sprues, though, so that opens up some options. I'll be writing up the build here, and eventually on my own blog, with on-the-fly photo updates on Twitter. Please feel free to leave comments, advice and even criticism! See you next time.
  7. So despite emptying a tin of enamel paint over my leg while doing so, I ended up finishing this rather small build, an Italieri RQ-1 Predator UAV. Parts of the kit lacked a bit in quality (looking at the propeller blade) but still, could have been worse and I'm quite happy with the neat way it has turned out. Was painted with Humbrol 127 Ghost Grey enamel, tamiya acrylics and Citadel Devlan Mud wash.
  8. General Atomics MQ-1 Predator, photos my Mike (Phantom MJI)taken at Holloman AFB. Please note the blacked out areas are where pilot names etc are and they asked for these to be removed.
