  1. Apologies in advance for another 1/200 build, but this is the largest & most expensive build I've ever attempted, so it warrants documentation. I've been wanting this kit ever since it was announced, and the addition of a full aftermarket kit that could be purchased with all added extras as one unit was ultimately very appealing. Over the last couple of years, I've built three ancient 1/600 Airfix kits for a friend of mine, who decided to buy this kit for me as a thank you. Suffice to say I was over the moon! At this point in time, I'm still working on acquiri

    Bismarck decking

Hello all, just bought a 1/350 Tamiya Bismarck, I’ve searched the net for a wooden deck kit, Sovereign won’t have one for 8-10 weeks and all the ones on eBay are coming from OZ or Far East, also tried Starling models they only had one for Tirpitz made by wood hunter...any suggestions where I might find one? failing that I’ll go and buy a different model and keep the Bismarck for later! Cheers
  3. Hello The warship virus is back and i have dusted my naval projects. While my Hood is still on hold, i have made progress on another project.I have started building Revells Schlachtschiff Bismarck a while ago and made also a start on the Tirpitz, also from Revell. Like so often building has started quite spontaneous and i think its now time to present them. Both are quite new kits and well detailed, to enhence this, i am using the Eduard BiG Ed set, a wooden deck from Pontos and turned metal barrels from RB and Master, i am not sure if i add more stuff. Depends on my budged
  4. I'm calling this one done. It's the now aging Trumpeter 1/350 kit #05302. The kit does need a bit of work but it's the only game in town for Britain's favourite warship and is therefore worth the effort. The turrets were replaced with Flyhawk HMS Hood Super Upgrade Set FH350099 which also came with range finders, UP launchers, blast bags and search light platforms. I started off detailing it with Flyhawk 350098 which whilst nice where it's nice, is also lacking in many ways in terms of the parts themselves. The instructions were poor by current standards. Happily White Ensign Model
  5. Hello Britmodellers here are pictures from my current build on my bench ( or better one of them) Its Trumpeters H.M.S Hood in 1/350 scale. Its my first attempt to add more details on a 1/350 warship. The kit was started right after i got it in my LHS, as an intended oob build, like my other ships i had at that time. While building her ( that was in 2007 or 08 ) i discovered modelling sites like Modelwarships.com or websites about the real Hood, learning about the wrong main gun turrets and the posted ships had so much more details. After i became unhappy with my idea it quickly stalled. Fill
  6. Colleagues: I am starting a new WIP on the recently-released Trumpeter 1:200 BB63, Missouri. I am using the opportunity offered by the release of this model, the Pontos PE and Trumpeter aftermarket parts, to try to improve my modeling skills. I am not an expert in any sense, but I am an amateur in the best sense. I love modeling and am at a place in my day job, my income, and my blood pressure that I can relax a bit more and devote time to what has been a very long hobby. I Live in Colorado, work in IT networking in a global association, and am just impressed as all get-out by the quality bu
  7. Another big box of goodies just arrived from Pontos Model in South Korea. New products will be listed over the next day or two. ☺
  8. The “Bismarck” was the first of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Named after Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the primary force behind theunification of Germany in 1871, the ship was laid down at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg in July 1936 and launched in February 1939. Work was completed in August 1940, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Bismarck and her sister ship Tirpitz were the largest battleships ever built by Germany, and two of the largest built by any European power. In the course of the warship's eight-month career under its
