Hot on the heels of my last post of a Gulf War 1 RAF Jaguar, here's my effort at a Tornado. I gather the 'Tonka' is a bit of a cherished {and semi-sacred?} aircraft on BritModeller, so I hope I did it justice! "Emma" is shown alongside her Op Granby friends - they remind me of watching Gulf War 1 on telly as a fascinated 14 year-old. The Tornado is out of the box, apart from the nose art decals, from Print Scale. I have to say the Print Scale decals were a bit flimsy, and less than satisfactory. If anyone wants the left over ones, drop me a line.... Rob

Hello everyone and also hello 2014. Quick update: 2013 was the year I started modeling again after a 30 year hiatus. I managed five builds last year when Real Life reasserted itself. So this one was started last year, but is my first finished build for 2014, and my 6th build in total. Ooh! All those maths classes weren't wasted! Sadly, during the last 5 months Real Life meant I didn't have much time for poking my nose in here. Slacker I am! So here we have a Jaguer GR1, Johnny Fartpants, in my very vague approximation of its Op Granby scheme. Artistic license applied by me as usual. It's mostly an OOB build of the Italeri 1/72 Jaguar GR1 with the decals from Modeldecal. I actually bought this kit and decals about 15 years ago. Yes! I was actually going to start building 15 years ago and bought this in preparation, but life took over and I had to wait another 15 years before starting again. I think it was worth the wait as I wouldn't have access to all the hints and tips I do today and I don't think it would look quite the same. Hopefully I'll have the time to bang out another couple of kits this year coz, well, I kind of enjoy this thing we do. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this one. Thank you again for your attention. Hi After making a few flying machines, I wanted a little break / something different. This little Bedford 4-tonne truck was just the ticket - basic, but fun to build. Oops - Some little tike has stolen her wing mirrors though! I have seen the made out of wire/staples etc, but I''l save that for next time. And some berk put the the markings on upside down......Or maybe it was after we'd won and they changed it to V for Victory (?)

Here's my second Op Granby effort, following an RAF Buccaneer.... Out of the box, depicted as "Saddam Kicker" - hope you like! Next is a Revell 1/72 Tornado to complete my British Gulf War 1 trio... Rob

Academy Warrior APC 1/35th scale (original boxing) 'Operation Granby' Iraq 1991 Warrior pics here Inspired by several Warriors of the Staffordshire Regt viewed by myself and other Club Members during our visit to Fallenbostel, Germany in September 1991 shortly after their return from Iraq Modifications needed The original Academy kit was modified as the frontal Armour was out of alignment due to the transmission covers being too wide This was reduced by 1.5mm either side and the stowage box adjusted accordingly Both side Armour packs were moved forwards a full 3mm so the fire suppression handle (left side) could be seen through the round opening This also allowed the camouflage screen prongs to be fitted correctly either side at the rear The Turret basket had the bottom raised by 2mm by reducing the vertical stanchions supporting it This stopped the basket catching on the rear deck fittings and gave the basket the correct profile
