This is Eduards great kit of the A6M2. Montex masks were used for all the markings, kit decals were only used for a few small stencils. This aircraft was used and lost in a Kamikaze attack off Okinawa on April 6 1945 in operation "Kikusui1", piloted by 24 yr old Lt. Miyatake. The aircraft of Nakajima production was marked Ke-113. Lt. Hello all A few pics of one of my latest completions - Revell's Arado AR 196 in 1/32. All built out of the box with just a Montex Mini Mask for the canopy, and what a lovely kit to build. Loads of lovely detail inside and out, so I've posed it with everything open and with one wing folded. Eventually painted with a mix of Tamiya and Mr Hobby acrylics. I had intended to go with Humbrol's range of RLM colours for the RLM 72/73 topside camo, but these proceeded to block my airbrush in no time at all, and the paint i managed to get onto the plane had a horrible gritty finish to it that i could have sanded down another model with! I'm sure others out there have got good results using these paints, but I don't think I'll ever use them again... The eventual colours used for the splinter camo were a mish mash of greens and greys which I played around with until I ended up with something I was happy with, even if nowhere near the actual colours specified. Kept the weathering light as I usually do, with just some pre-shading of panel lines and oild-based washes applied. Overall I'm quite chuffed with how this one has turned out - a real pleasure to put together. Thanks for looking. Cheers Adam

Evening all With some of the nice bright weather we've been having lately, I've been trying to capture some better quality photos of some old builds than I've managed previously, so here is my finished C-160 from Revell. I built this about 3 years ago when I was fairly new to airbrushing. Even in 1/72, this kit is a beast, and currently sits on top of my son's wardrobe, as I don't have any shelves big enough to take it. It's a very nicely detailed kit (the interior especially), but I did have a few fit issues, particularly around the undercarriage. Thankfully most of that area is covered, as I did end up making a bit of a hash of it. Built out of the box other than a Montex mask for the canopy, airbrushed with Revell Aqua acrylics. Very nice decals - went on a treat, even the really long stripes down the fuselage. A most enjoyable build, but one that took quite a while just because of the size of it! Thanks for looking Adam

Hello all My second posting of the day. We've been lucky enough to have some beautiful sunshine here this morning, which has given me a chance to take some half decent photos of this build that I completed about a year ago. This is Tamiya's Beaufighter MkX in 1/48 in a Coastal Command scheme, another great kit of theirs that goes together like a dream - a real pleasure from start to finish. This was built out of the box apart from a Montex Mini Mask for the canopy, and a bit of EZ Line for the antenna wire, and was painted with Tamiya acrylics throughout. This was my first bash at doing invasion stripes, quite happy with how they've come out. Thanks for looking Adam

Hello all This is my first completion in almost 6 months after a barren summer dominated by looking after the kids followed by a short-term loss of building mojo. Finally got my backside in gear to finish this Lightning as a Christmas present for my father in law, who used to paint Lightnings with 5 Squadron based at RAF Binbrook in the late 60s and early 70s. I wanted to do the model in a 5 squadron scheme like he would have worked on, so had to depart from my usual out of the box method. Did a bit of research online, and chose this pic to base mine on: Dipped into the aftermarket for the required 5 Squadron decals (thanks to Gary West for pointing me in the direction of the Model Alliance ones), and also pushed the boat out and went for a SAC undercarriage set, and a Montex mask for the canopy. Been wanting to try a natural metal finish for a while, so played around a bit with how to try and get some variation in the metal tones. I pre-shaded different bits of the airframe in white, grey and black to see if that would make any difference when a single shade of aluminium (Tamiya XF16) went on over the top. There are some subtle variations to the naked eye, but I'm not sure my photos really pick this up. I picked out selected panels and control surfaces in Tamiya XF56 to break it up some more. Kept the weathering light, with just an oil paint wash to lightly accent panel lines. I know there are some errors and omissions in it, but am hopeful it is a reasonable representation of an F6 from that era. Overall very happy with how it turned out (hope the old boy will be too). Hey guys, after some fails this year (try and error building) I started to build the 1/32 Eduard Bf 109 E-1 Weekend Edition with Spanish Masks from Montex. There are some smaller mistakes I did (was a bit too fast in some points of the build) and I still have to learn how to handle and paint the canopy correctly because the Montex Mask left some touches at the Canopy. This learning phase should then lead into the build of a Tamiya A6M2 Zero in 32 scale. However (still not finished) if finished this will be the first model in about 13 years which I do complete. This is also a bit a quick & dirty build as I wanted mainly to train my airbrush skills for a one color-plane. So There are small gaps here and there and she may not be perfect build, but this was not my personal task for this baby. So I started last thursday with the build and here is what I did so far: 1. Fuselage Inside and Cockpit Elements primed with black and added RLM02 2. & 3. First time building HGW Fabric Seatbelts, took a while for the first belt but it is just great! 4. & 5. & 6. Main Cockpit parts in place (except upper instrument panel). Wash and dry-brush done as well as subtile chipping at some corners. I decided to not add any Instrument decals or so because the Eduard Instruments are very badly done so I don't wanted to invest some decals at it. The Pro-Packs do Include Photo-Etched Instruments. Also you may note that the Rudder-Pedals are missing - again PE Parts within the Pro-Packs so it is totally missing in the Weekend Editions of the 109's. 7. First try of handling those small parts in the pit. I "glued" them with Clear-Coat in the end. 8. & 9. Upper panel and Revi installed, as I said above, I decided to not use any decals / add-ons for the Instruments. 10. Base-Coat of white applied, pre-shading done and added the base colors for the markings. 11. & 12. Added the Montex Mask for the Insignia and the Fuselage Markings 13. & 14. Painting progress starts with some RLM02 to the Fuselage first and RLM65 to the underside 15. To get back the pre-shade over the markings I added another layer of white and pre-shades 16. Removing the second color masks and add yellow paint to the spanish insignias and red to the fuselage smybol 17. & 18. & 19. & 20. Mask removed - isn't this nice?! In the second image the daylight reveals that I can be happy this far 21. I'm also very much happy with the pre-shades 22. & 23. Masking of the sides for the black stripes 24. & 25. Black added and...voila! Mask seems to have been good 26. Current state of this morning. So all the main parts are now colored, I'll add the main landing gear as next step and lookout to work on an antenna for the 109 with EZ Lines. Then some of the stencis will be added (not all, as I didn't see any photo with every stencils in place - mostly only the basic 87 Octane Fuel and Medi-Kit Markings). Then a wash and some weathering will follow. Hope you like it
