  1. Hello, built oob. Painted with Revell Auqa Color. cheers Peter
  2. Hi, everyone! It's my next model. Made from "Hobby Boss" easy assembly. But I made cabinet from "0", riveting, Pitot tube, use etched details from "Kuivalainen" set. Main chassis from "Reskit".
  3. Trumpeter MiG-3 with Part set, resin exhausts and Montex masks. Inscription on the side means "For the motherland". Nice kit with, surprisingly, no major errors. I improved few things like a propeller blades - awfully thick in the kit. As a support for photos I used old cigarette case from Soviet Union when Saint Petersburg was a Leningrad. For Poland where I live, it was a dark and hard time. May it never come back.
  4. Welcome to my first attempt at a 'Work in Progress' post. The subject matter is this, the Trumpeter 1/32 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3; a kit dating back to 2004 apparently: I bought this kit on good old eBay with lots of aftermarket goodies included. The Aires cockpit set: Eduard photo-etched sets: Quickboost exhaust and Aerobonus pilot: The figure is new territory for me. I frequently see figures and dioramas at model shows and think 'I wish I could do that' but never get round to actually trying. Although the scheme depicted on the box artwork is great, I quite fancied tackling a more 'rough and ready' winter paint job. This Montex mask has just the thing, the standard camouflage with white slapped on roughly in the field to the tail and outer wings: This should provide good company in the display cabinet for my Special Hobby 1/32 I-16 type 17: Like many of us I am making the move from enamel to acrylic paint. The I-16 was finished using White Ensign enamels, for the MiG-3 I have picked up this handy set from Vallejo: And for our man in the cockpit: My main printed reference is this book from the excellent Mushroom series: It even has a profile of my chosen subject, with a name for the pilot: Lieutenant Panfilov Evgenyi Maksimovich.
  5. In 2014 I only managed to build two models which is not very impressive as modelling is one of my main hobbies, so for 2015 I really want to improve my productivity. So instead of my usual practice of having two kits on the go at a time I’m starting off 2015 with three, as I usually finish whatever I start I should be guaranteed at least three finishes for the year ! The first three kits will be Soviet WW2 (GPW) subjects as I really like the look of them but have always been put off by the lack of mainstream enamel model paint for kits of this period. It’s a shame that the WEM series of Soviet paints are not accurate as I have a drawer full of them and they airbrush beautifully. I am a dedicated enamel user and I do not like acrylics as they are (to me) too fussy, I tried using them once and did not enjoy the experience. So I bought a selection of AKAN paints (enamels) which are generally accepted as the most accurate model paints for WW2 Soviet subjects, however their formula makes them very smelly and I could not use them in the house. So I made up paint chips using the AKAN paints and matched them against easy to find enamel model paints that have a more acceptable smell. Acceptable that is to my wife who has a very keen sense of smell ! The first of my 2015 projects will be Trumpeters 1/32 scale mig-3 which has been living in my loft for years. This will be a very basic build using what is in the box without worrying too much about the kits faults, and with only a couple of aftermarket items. So here is what you get with the kit. The box And the contents And the PE Decals Cheers Dennis
  6. A quick build this one. Was the Hobbyboss Easykit Mig-3. Figured I'd give it a buy since it was only £2.50. Can't go wrong at that price. Turned out to be a decent kit. Fits together like a glove but had a very basic cockpit and was a little too simple to piece together. Still, it was enough entertainment for a Friday night and a Saturday morning so can't complain. I didn't like the schemes suggested on the box so opted for a green and white speckled, 'diseased' look that I saw online and liked the look of. Figured it would look cool and would be something different. I decided to nickname it 'Speckled Jim' There's quite a few interesting schemes available for the Mig-3 so I may end up buying more of this kit and getting a little squadron. Anyway, if you can pick the kit up cheap I recommend it. On to the pics...
  7. Just finished this project few days ago. Building process here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234941996-mig-3-trumpeter-148/ . This model from Trumpeter is really nice. A bit scratch parts plus photoetched from Eduard. Hope you like it
  8. Hi guys! Started another project few days ago. Trumpeter MiG-3 Early version. Nice kit. Also I got Eduard photo etched set for cockpit. Artbox got few books as references With planning to get A. Pokrishkin plane... probably something like this: I know this kit got few mistakes but not critical. Going to change armour back plate on pilot seat and not to use harness straps because no one wartime photo showed it. So, lets go rock and roll Tried to deepen and make thinner pilot's seat First version armour back plate beside original one Progress at the moment. Hope you like it Ivan.
  9. Not much to say about this kit. It was very pleasant to build. The seatbelts are my first attempt to make from tape with thin wire metallic buckles. Not very much to scale, but anyway.
