  1. Hi everybody, before the first recce Meteors based on the new Airfix-kit will appear here, I would like to show you my Meteor FR.9 made from the Special Hobby/MPM-kit. It is not a bad kit at all, although building it as a FR.9 or PR.10 requires to saw off the nose and replace it with a new nose supplied as clear parts. I wanted to build a Middle-East-based Meteor in the Dark Green, Dark Sea Gray and PRU Blue scheme, but decided not build WZ603 that is included in the kit’s decal options, because the white trim on the nose looked too difficult to reproduce combining paint and decals. Instead, I choose WX938, an 8 Sqn Meteor that is also well documented by photo. The Meteor F.8/FR.9 is a funny looking aircraft with its clipped wings and huge engines. It certainly soon looked old fashioned next to a Sabre or Hunter. All comments welcome! And together with two roughly contemporary RAF jets from the Middle East:
  2. Dear all, One of the options in the MPM kit is this one - 208 Sqn WX956/A 1956: It looks pretty with its large orange patches. However I cannot find any photo's of this aircraft. Profile drawings are in (among others) Scale Aircraft Modelling November 1984 (volume 7 nr 2) and Valiant wings productions: The Suez Crisis. The reason that I am looking for photo's is that the serial number seems to be incorrect. WX956 was never issued to any aircraft. Meteor FR.9's in the WX serial block started from WX962. According to the book Cold War Shield volume 1, 208 Sqn usd red and yellow as flight colour markings, not blue as indicated by the above profile. In Airfile 10 - RAF Middle East & Near East is a similar looking profile of WX966/A: The main question is: Did this airframe really sport the large orange panels or was it painted in the high altitude Day Fighter scheme? Hope someone knows (and the difference can be deduced from b/w pictures) Kind regards, Peter
  3. Hi My Meteor FR9 is finish One global view of it And additionnal pics with the link bellow Gloster Meteor FR9
  4. Hi The Meteor is a "icone" of the first age of jet plane MPM has a line of this plane going to the first mark to the common Mk8 version. It has also some special version like the Trent turbo prop, the Mk 10 PR , the FR9 and some other version I choose the FR9 but I decide to make an Israel scheme Israel receive a batch of 7 FR9 Meteor. But they were rapidly converted to a Mk8 figher with the remove oif cameras There are not great difficult to assemble this kit Some attention must be made to : - Nose integration - Air intake - Exhaust - rear junction on fuselage and the wing. Except this points, the kit not need a great amount of putty And now some pics
  5. Has anybody tried to fit the Meteor FR.9 nose from the Classic Airframes kit, onto the new Airfix Meteor F.8? I have a trashed Classic Airframes Meteor F.8/FR.9 kit, and would like to build the recce version. Larry
