  1. Dear All, My next project will be a BoB Bf/Me 109E but need some help please. I have the Tamiya E3 and the ICM E3 as well but not sure which would be the better and if either can also represent the E1 or E4 version? In this scale the difference between an E3 and E4 would presumably be almost 'invisible' so it should come down to identifying a specific subject from research and applying the relevant decals? As for the E1 my basic understanding is that this variant was armed with wing machine guns so lacking the under wing cannon bulges but could also have had the later cannon installed as well, plus the more heavily framed canopy possibly retro-fitted, so again a question of research and decals for a specific example I guess. My knowledge of the Bf/Me109E is not minimal but neither is it exhaustive so I've always been somewhat confused by the differences seen when it comes to the canopy framing as I'd always assumed the early style was on the E1 and early E3's only and also that all E1's only had wing machine guns. However I have many photos which entirely contradict these assumptions, such as E4's with early style canopies and examples described as E1's but with guns (cannon) protruding from both wings. Kind Regards Colin.
  2. Hi folk,s I can't imagine many of the aircraft brigade here on BM not checking out the superb Battle of Britain GB but just in case here's my take on Priller's 109,the kit is Airfix;s newer tool with Eduard;s weekend edition decals. The kit comes a very creditable second to Eduard's in comparison with the glazing not quite as well molded and the awful sprue attachment's on the separate leading edge slat's letting it down.Colour,s are all Tamiya which I mixed from photo,s and profile,s.Many thank's for looking.http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234984672-and-beware-the-hun-in-the-sun/page-1 Build can be found here.
  3. Hi folks a stalled build from a while ago was Eduard's weekend boxing of the 109e,my take on the captured machine evaluated by the British after being captured by the French in 1939 it later went to the States and lost in an accident in 1942.Eduard's kit is a little beauty with just a couple of over engineered area's.Airfix decal's from the old club kit.If ypu check out photo's of the real aircraft it seems to have a non standard centre section of the cockpit glazing maybe damaged when the aircraft was captured. Thanks for looking in.
  4. Evening all, this was my first Eduard kit and what a superb kit to start with,it's the Weekend boxing finished in the colour's of 2/JG27 based in Libya in 1941,to be honest it owes a lot of thank's to a lot of people on here for the inspiration to weather, wash and pre-shade which are thing's I've only tinkered with on the odd build, hell I've even stuck in a close up shot so new territory all round!WIP can be found here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234983565-fast-eddy-me109-trop/page-1Many thank's for looking.
  5. Hi everyone. I have finally finished my two 109's ....thank the lord. This upload completes the WIP thread I started back in August 2013. Working on these sorts of timeframes I should complete my stash of kits around September 2075. All that aside I have now added the two 109's to the cabinet of glory ending the epic battle to the death between myself and the combined forces of Wally Messerschmitt, Airfix and the proprietors of my local hobby shop Along the way I managed to destroy my first 109G, then in the face of adversity bought a 109E to continue the thread, then I salvaged my original 109G from the bin of death, then I bought another 109G to get the parts I needed to complete the build and the thread, then I broke the glass and a few other fiddly bits on my 109E, then I purchased another 109E to complete that kit, then I booked myself into rehab to provide the inner strength required to finally present this page to you! Things I tried for the first time....airbrush, panel line washes, weathering Things I like....the camo on the E, some of the weathering on the "E", the open cockpit on the E, not much on the G apart from the funky bat decal and the sharks mouth. Things I absolutely stuffed....the back triangular canopy on the E, rescribing the panel lines on both, the radio mast on the E, the propellor hub on the G and pretty much all the clear parts on both!! Anyway please feel free to have a look and I would really appreciate any comments particularly if you can point out the areas I should be looking to improve and any helpful tips! Cheers Winenut To top it all off....I can't upload the photos!! Oh my lord.........give me strength Seriously ....I can't upload the photos....my nightmare continues
  6. Here we have the latest off the bench. I actually finished this one last month but only now got some time to get it on BM. After the A10, also known as the longest build in the known universe, I fancied a quick build. Got this one done in about 8 weeks, which is quick for me... I bought this one from from local 'The Works' for about £1.50 as they were closing down, bargain!!! I intended to build it straight from the box but couldn't resist the urge to scratch build the slats and drop the ailerons. Other than that it's straight from the box. The kit is a delight to build only needing slight work to get the dihedral correct. Painted with Tamiya paints and Pro-modeller wash and some weathering pastels. The decals settled without issue. Anyway, on with the pictures hope you enjoy.
