Hi,
Perhaps it can sound strange but Lockheed P80 Shooting Star is a WW II fighter (more than Go229, for example) - it was used during WWII in Europe in operation conditions. I was really surprised when I've learnt this many years ago. You can read about it here for example:
http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/project-extraversion-p-80-shooting-stars-in-world-war-ii/
http://www.ww2incolor.com/us-air-force/P80-VESUVIO.html
In Wikipedia there is also about this, even it is quoted that one of the machines based in Italy could intercept Ar-234...
It was YP80A version sent to Italy at the winter 1944/1945 or early spring 1945, and was flown in 412 Gr. USAAF - this is what subject of my model.
This is an Airfix P80C kit converted (new canopy is the main outside difference). The painting scheme was taken from Czech journal Letectvi+Kosmonautica, as far as I remeber it. I made it about 20 yeras ago. Now there are sometimes informations, that they had vertical tail painted in red strips, at least they were painted like that after returnig from Italy (photos exist). I am very curious - If anybody has any sure data if my painting scheme is correct or not - I can correct it/add or modify...
Any comments welcome and cheers
