  1. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my latest, the 1/72 KORA Fw-190 F9 Panzerblitz. This version was the last variant of the famous "Butcher Bird", armed with unguided anti-tank aerial rockets. These rockets were similar to the R4M Orkan air-to-air rocket used by the Messerschmitt Me 262. The kit contains the well-known Eduard sprues (for the A-8 version), some resin and photo-etch add-ons plus a decal sheet for 4 marking options. I painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics, according to instructions, as I could not find an original photograph of this particular aircraft. The pitot tube is a metal item from Master. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thank you for your interest and comments, best greetings from Vienna Roman
  2. Hi All, I hope I can build this subject this year. There are couple others before in pipeline and I have some questions related to topic. D-AFFT was quite special plane. It was operated by Hansa Luftbild and this was basically unit to get intel information outside Germany before war. This plane crashed in Helsinki Malmi airport 1.10.1939 and crashed plane was returned quietly back to Germany. My first question is: Was this plane carrying cameras and if so where those were located? Second is: Should I use Revell kit as a starting point or Kora conversion set? Scan is from Suomen ilmailuhistoriallinen Lehti 2/1996
  3. Kora has just released a 1/72nd Messerschmitt Bf.109G family - in fact reboxing from the AZmodel Bf.109G kits (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234948834-172-messerschmitt-bf109g-k-families-by-azmodel-released-g-1g-2tropg-6trop-release-january-2016/) + bonus. 4. Hello everyone. This is Messerschmitt Bf 109G-12 Yugoslav version, 15/9615, 83 Fighter Regiment, Yugoslav Air Force, Cerklje airfield, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, 1948-49. 1:72 AZ Model kit with Kora resin conversion set. Following the Second World War, Yugoslavia received some standard two-seater Bf 109G-12s from Bulgaria. Needing more, they converted a couple of one-seaters. This conversion visually differs from the original G-12 in the rear cockpit section where an Erla Haube canopy was used instead of the special G-12 rear canopy. As soon as I found out about this variant I went looking for options to make it and found a Kora resin conversion set with decals. This set was meant for a Fine Molds kit but I used an AZ Model kit from the blank 3-kit pack instead. This of course meant more work to get both to come together but in the end I managed and it came out nicely. Paint and varnish all applied by brush. This is the last 1:72 kit I've built so far (I build mostly in 1:144 nowadays) and I completed it last year. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome. Miguel
  5. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 KORA Focke Wulf Fw-190 F9 "Panzerblitz". The kit features Eduard's plastic sprues for an A-8 (some modification on the lower wings is required), a bag of resin bombs and rockets, three small photo-etch frets and a decal sheet. The bombs and rockets are not better than the plastic parts from the Eduard F8 kit. I had a left-over weapons sprue from a F8, so they were duly replaced. A small photo-etch frame supplies seat belts and pedals, but no instrument panel. Instrument panels are provided as black/white paper print-outs only. The second frame holds the ventilators - both 12 and 14 blade are provided. The rocket rails are supplied as a photo-etch assembly on the third frame. I struggled to get everything folded straight and in line, so the rails were substituted with the Eduard plastic part as well. In the end I only used the photo-etch part for the small fairing just ahead of the rocket racks. The four decal options are very interesting, the decals themselves of very good quality. They are printed on a continuous carrier film and have to be cut out individually. I noticed that this kit was not very well received within the BM community (have a look here): I understand that the price tags of some distributors may put some modelers off. I had the chance to grab a couple of the KORA boxings at Eastern European model shows, directly from the manufacturer, sold for a price marginally above the regular Eduard kit. If you really want to have a Fw-190 F9 (and can't wait until Eduard release their version) this is the only game in town. The only other contender is the Hasegawa kit, which is already hard to find. According to my research, only a few Schlachtgeschwader used Panzerblitz weapon systems operationally in spring 1945: SG 1, SG 3, SG.10 and SG 77. My model represents a machine of one of those units. I painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics and weathered with artist's oils. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  6. Because Doozer wanted to see more ;-) here´s a second and last model for today in an unusual rare scheme that you may find interesting. The Model shows an a/c that flew with 1/2 Szturmowi Orliak in September 1944. At this time Bulgaria had already changed sides and fought with the Soviets against the Germans. Not 100% sure about the white ID markings but they seem plausible. The ususal yellow IDs for this area where most probably overpainted to avoid being mistaken for a Luftwaffe a/c and being shot down by the Russians. Used a Hasegawa kit. The decals are a mixture of Kagero, Kora and LF Model. The last two ones aren´t the best but workable. The missing pilot headrest was done with a part from the spares box, the raised wing walkways were done with plastic stripes. The add-on armour on the pilot fuselage sides were done with plastic sheet. The inner canopy frames were done with grey isolation/electrical tape. Also added some plastic sheet to the lower frame of the pilo´ts sliding canopy so that it overlaps the fuselage and looks more like the original, the Hasegawa canopy isn´t completely correct. Painted with Gunze and Tamiya acrylics, EZ-Line was used for the antenna wire. Kagero´s Ju87 Vol.III book was used as reference. Hope you like it, cheers, Reinhard and Franz

  8. I've long wanted to do a recce version of the Bf109 with two tanks under the wing, but have lacked knowledge of various details. When I saw the new Kora release of the AZ Bf109G I noticed that the boxart showed a pipe going back from the rear of the engine running underneath the centre-section. OK, I thought, this guy has done his research, I'll buy the kit. It arrived today (good service Hannants) but the instructions and parts show no sign of this pipe. So where does it go to, and is there another on the other side? What does it look like at the other end? I'm guessing that it could be water to clean the lens of the camera, but I'm not convinced.

  21. Hannant's new releases include a superb range of parts and transfers from Kora for the Airfix Tiger Moth. Many different markings, with resin wheels, floats, rudder, fuselages and even a choice of slatless and Australian wings - though I'd have thought the conversion was easy enough. Ed? The wings will presumably work with the slightly less accurate AZ kit too. I thought that the Queen Bee had straight sides - maybe this is mentioned in the instructions? I've no link to either company, just impressed by the choice.
  22. Well Gents, I got my latest stash-mates in the mail today; they include the CMR Westland Welkin, a Special Hobby A-35 to be painted up as a Navy TBV Georgia, and of course the Kora Vickers 432 high altitude interceptor (amongst others ) After careful reading on wiki I understand that only two aircraft were considered, and in 1944 the test flight plane was scrapped. If this beauty had gone into service, what sort of camo would it wear over the skies of Great Britain? If you have any suggestions as to which other roles it might take on, I would be happy to hear those too. Please do throw in your suggestions, the P scheme with yellow undersides does not agree with me.

    Macchi C201

IN their new arrivals, Hannants have a Kora Macchi C201, which according to them is an MC200 with an enclosed canopy as on the MC202 Folgore. I understood the MC201 to be an MC200 airframe with a Daimler Benz engine. Comments anyone?
