  1. Dear fellow Britmodellers, this is my 1/72 Italeri A-26B Invader in markings of 416th Bomb Group in 1944/45. I added Kitsworld decals, True Details wheels, parts of the Eduard exterior set, Scale Aircraft Conversions landing gear, Quickboost gun barrels and self-made "clamshell style" canopy doors to represent a late production aircraft. Painted with Tamiya, Mr.Hobby and Alclad lacquers. Photos by Wolfgang Rabel. A full build review will appear in an upcoming edition of Phoenix Aviation Modelling magazine. Best greetings from Austria, Roman
  2. Hi there I would like to share some pictures of last year’s Revell Tornado build with the special 617 Squadron decals from Kits World. I realise I have been pestering @Retired Bob with advice about his GB Gulf War build so I thought it was fair to show the results of a lot of work to make this model look like a Tornado. Here is the finished item. To make it this far took the following changes/corrections working from nose to tail. 1. SBS replacement radome and pitot fitted. 2. Hasegawa FLIR fitted, the kit one was poorly moulded. 3. Nose oleo reduced in lenght between 1 and 2 mm to give the correct horizontal/ nose down attitude of the Tornado. 4. Lots of plastic removed from front fuselage sides to allow air intakes to fit. 5. Vertical spacer at front of top/ bottom rear fusealage so the height mached the front fuselage. 6. Wing glove seals modified to allow them to touch the wing upper surface without leaving a 2 mm gap, see pictures below. After thinning. the glove seal to fuselage join was cut to allow the glove seal to toxh the wing upper surface. 7. Home made wing seals from plastic card at wing trailing edge. 8. Fin front section packed out so its width matches the fuselahe spine. 9. Rear insert for jet exhausts is too small for rear fuselage. 1’’ saw cut made along rear bottom fuselage centreline from back surface. Cut sections pulled togehter and glued with a hefty tab. I hope this list will help other Tornado builders in the future to improve their models. Apart from that it was my own mix of lightented Medium Sea Grey and then decalling. The Fantasy Printshop stencils were great, but there was alot of them. It took about a week to get them all on. Here are some more pictures. Stencil close up And here is the wing glove fix, before the work started Underside showing the amout of plastic to be removed. Not shown here is the small cut needed to separate the glove trailing edge from the fuselage face to allow the glove to deform to follow the wing upper surface. And here is the final result, the glove seal touches the wing upper surface like it should do on a Mach 2 capable plane. Regards Toby
  3. Hi there I am calling this one done. The model portray’s Miss Lace sometime between the time when the port wing was replaced and the accident when the rudder and elevators were replaced. The yellow tail and blue wing chevron was painted by the end of January 1945. It had a major service after mission 41 when the Cheyanne tail was fitted. At this time the rudder and elevators were silver painted at this time. The weathering from the engines was lightly done with Tamiya Smoke. There is a build thread over on the WIP section. Here are the pictures. Regards Toby

  5. Hi I recently bought a Second hand Raf Bomber command which comes with A Lancaster and the resupply set. It came without the decal sheet and while I was looking for a new one for the Lancaster which came with the stencils and I saw this one by Kit world. I have never heard of them before and I was wondering if the where good quality decals. The last decal set I bought disintegrated, so I want to make sure that this one won’t do this. I was also wondering if there is a decal sheet for the resupply vehicles.
  6. Ok, don't know if I'll get this done as I'm having a bit of 'modellers block' (see 'Butterworth Blenheim' in the Pacific at War GB). Sprue shots show wing parts, fuselage removed just to test fit. I'm doing Kitsworld's 'Hekla Hettie', an early 'F' model, so using the 'E' as a basis as this has the correct forward fuselage side glazing. I have QB paddle blades, engines and cowlings (apparently the kit parts aren't that good), Falcon clear parts for the frameless nose glazing, don't know how much I'll use of the Eduard Etch I'll use as I'm late into this! Davey.
  7. Here is my rendition of the 16AA Bde Gate Guardian - a C-47 re-furbed and painted to depict KG374 as she looked on D-Day. I sourced the fuselage codes from KitsWorld, but they ended up being too wide in relation to the D-Day stripes compared to the real deal. They're the right height and the D-Day stripes are accurate, it is apparent that the codes on the real gate guardian are narrower, so i have opted for a compromise - just the 'YS' codes. The Italeri kit provides the KG374 decals as black, which I settled for instead of red, and other photos I've seen show KG374 with just the 'YS' codes forward of the fuselage roundel. The roundel white was rather see-through unfortunately. I decided not to accentuate the panel lines with a wash as it wouldn't look right (esp after the Airfix Dakota-Gate!). So, without further ado, here she is. The real plane;
