  1. Hi, this my 'kitchen sink' build of the exciting F-35I Adir ('Mighty One'), the most advanced fighter jet in the world at this time. I'm using the highly-regarded Italeri 1/32 kit and adding a whole raft of aftermarket items to see if I can push myself to produce something really special given the extended runtime of this GB. I started it a couple of years ago (25% rule applies!) but only got as far as the cockpit: Using the dedicated Eduard Big Ed set among other things. This is as far as I've got at this point. More info is here if you want it: Look forward to joining you soon! Alan
  2. Hello everyone I will be building Special hobby’s (MPM) Meteor T.Mk.7.5. It actually comes as a Mk.7 in the box and I need to swap out the older style tail for the larger tail. So I can make either version. The Israeli’s operated both types so its up to me. I prefer the 7.5 as it comes in the desired Blue/Earth camouflage. The Mk.7 would be high speed silver. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/special-hobby-sh72317-gloster-meteor-t-mk-75-large-tail-trainer--661153 I will post sprue photo’s in a day or two as Im away from my office currently. Please feel free to ask questions or post comments. Dennis oh yes I should add this will only be my 2nd meteor ever.
  3. IAF F-16A/B Netz Decals (72012 & 48012) 1:72 & 1:48 TG Decals Netz was the Israeli designation for the F-16A/B in Israeli Air Force service, the first of which were delivered from the USA in 1980, the first few being former USAF airframes that soon entered combat with opponents that were usually equipped with Soviet sourced aircraft. They stayed busy until their eventual withdrawal from active duty 36 years later after hundreds of thousands of flight hours and dozens of major operations where they engaged with various enemies, gaining an enviable reputation and becoming much loved by its pilots and crew over numerous generations of aviator. This new decal set is from TG Decals of Guatemala and covers fourteen airframes over the type’s extensive career, many of them notable due to their engagement in high profile operations, or for well-documented shoot-downs of enemy aircraft. The decals are designed and researched in Guatemala and printed in the US in both 1:72 and 1:48 scales, with appropriately sized sheets to cover all options, including different shaped refuelling markers for the 1:48 kits that are compatible with Tamiya/Kinetic and Hasegawa kits, which begs the (unrelated) question – who got it right? Both sets arrive in a resealable clear foil bag, and the decal sheets are protected by four folded A4 sheets of thick glossy paper that has the side profiles for each airframe and two styles of overhead and one lower profile printed on both sides, as well as profiles of the various fuel tanks that were carried on the wings and under the fuselage during its career. At the bottom of each page of profiles is a suggested colour swatch with paint codes for MRP, Model Master, Tamiya, Gunze Sangyo and Vallejo paint systems. Each set has a small addendum sheet in addition to the main decal sheet(s) that corrects a few of the smaller decals that were originally printed in a slightly different colour. It’s good to see a company taking care to check their work and make corrections where necessary. The decals are well-printed in good registration, sharpness and colour density, with a thin gloss carrier film cut close to the printed areas that should disappear under a coat or two of gloss varnish. 1:72 Set (72012) 1:48 Set (48012) Conclusion If you’re an Israeli aviation fan this set should give you plenty of ammunition to create some well-known airframes from the IAF, with plenty of stencils and markings for the individual aircraft. Highly recommended. TG Decals are a small company that do business via Facebook, and can be found by clicking on the button below at any time. Review sample courtesy of
  4. Build number two for this GB, this one is going to be an Israeli FR9. So another photo of the box of an Airfix Meteor FR9 kit (which is a different box as it’s slightly more battered than the other one): Sprues still sealed in their bags: Aftermarket is being kept more minimal on this build than the Brazilian one, limited to some PF belts, resin wheels, and a 3d printed cockpit set. Having said that, as mentioned in the other thread, any unused bits from that build may still appear in this one: Again, I’m using FCM decals for this one, going for the blue & sand scheme. These decals are for an F8 rather than the FR9, however I’ve discovered that one of the FR9’s was coded 11, which means I just need to mask and spray two vertical lines on each side of the fuselage: I’m looking forward* to battling with the FR9 nose, I’ve heard it’s a pig to make it fit. James *There may be a large degree of sarcasm in that statement
  5. I don't fully understand myself, but this machine has always been on my list. A strange 109. I especially like the interesting role of the former German-Czech military technology in Israel. The model is fairly new, very nice and extremely detailed. Basically we get a modified G Messser with bump propeller and ugly nose. The parts were an exact fit during dry fitting. This is where I am with it so far:
  6. Just saving my place for this GB, will be starting as soon as I finish the 1/32 Tempest. Will be an IAF bomb truck from the most desperate days of the October War (Yom Kippur) in 1973. Tamiya kit as the base, lots of photoetch and some excellent decals. Alan
  7. Here's my next...KP Model's Piper L-18C, 100th Sq. IAF, Dov airfield, 1965. It looks alright. there are a couple of odd bits in the instructions, but I'll get the those later. Here's the box art... Back... My choice of profiles... And the sprue... Let me finish up another build (Sopwith Tripe) before I start this one. Next week I'll dig in, I think. --John

  9. Italeri 1/48 Nesher Israeli air force, 117 Sqn Hornets, Hatzor, flown by Glora Epstein, Yom Kippur war Oct 73. 1990 kit, raised panel lines. All acrylic and chalk pastel .Decals stuck with white glue and water mix. panel lines with HB pencil and pastel shading.
  10. Hello Friends, My follow up project to the Great Wall Hobby F-15I Ra`am was the Special Hobby SMB2 Super Mystere. Here are the notable features and my thoughts on the kit......... 1. Built mostly straight from the box. Used 0.6mm brass tubes to replace front pitot tubes under the intake. 2. Used Model Master, Mission Models, and some old ( but still useful ) Polly Scale acrylic paints. 3. Weathered with Flory & Vallejo washes, pencils, paint, and chalk pastels. 4. Depicted from No. 105 Squadron based at Hatzor, Israel. 5. Plumbers putty and small lead fishing sinkers were used to have the Mystere sit properly. 6. The kit supplied decals were excellent and responded well to setting solution. I found the kit to be mostly delightful with a few “fiddly” sections. For some odd reason, I had a couple of issues completely eliminating some of the seams. The kit is very well detailed and with little need for aftermarket accessories. I hope you enjoy this version of the French designed fighter-bomber. Thank you in advance for all of your comments and criticisms. With much respect, Mike
  11. Good night to all! here the last birth directly from my workbench... an israeli Mirage III CJ! Base kit is the Eduard, but I used the resin set for cockpit and wheel bays from SBM. Other details are from Eduard photoetched set, pitot from Master. For the natural metal finish I used the Aclad Lacquers and Mr.Paint semi gloss for the final coat. The decals are a mix from the kit and Isradecal set. Hope you'll enjoy. Cheers from Rome, Italy!
