  1. Hi, All! Reading new opus N.Yakubovich from series "Aviakollektciya" attachment to magazine "Modelist-Konstruktor" 3-2019 "Fighter-interceptor Su-9 & Su-11": read with interest and bewilderment about the overflight Su-9 737 (called "rabie") IAP PVO from USSR over Iran to Syria and comeback over Turkey to USSR in June 1968. Google search show some topic where something similar is described. As examples: https://priozersk.livejournal.com/2203.html "Re: бешеный полк.. teotron 4 мая 2011, 20:02:02 UTC СВЕРНУТЬ: The only air defense regiment that responded to the Powers flights during the exercise: actually flew to the Middle East through Iran and Turkey, right through, in June 1968 ... The Turks fired rocket "Phantoms" but did not have any losses ... I flew to intercept a UFO ... I shot down probes in Tien Shan ... For the first time I used the "pager" (60s) to collect pilots for an alarm within a radius of 50 km ... Passed through ZRV unnoticed ... He constantly fought at night in the clouds, in group battles, in the afterburner ..." or http://teplitz.ru/forum/10-14-1 "The commander opened the package, and a group of 16 Su-9s, with full refueling, flew south-west ... They walked in full radio silence mode, tracking each other along the sights ... Iran was under them ... They didn't manage to get the ceiling right away - it was hot ... They landed in Syria. Worked out the tasks and went to the Union, but through Turkey. Here, the group was attacked by the F-4 of NATO. The pilots watched two start-ups on their own ... However, the Turks missed: Drying went higher ... In the evening of the same day, the group went to the point with links" As for me it all looks like urban legends and delirium of the mad, which is only worth the phrase about the response to the flight of Powers in 1968 ..... Powers was shot down in 1961 and the USSR decided to give an answer in 1968 !!! Seven years have been thinking how to respond to Powers flight, SEVEN YEARS !!! 😲😁 ...UFO intercept....😁😁 I remember the same fantastic stories about the Su-9, Su-11, Su-15 and even the Yak-28P who fought in Vietnam against the Americans, and even shot down someone there. 😁😁😁 In addition, I can’t even imagine the level of a diplomatic scandal if some Su-9 were shot down and fell in Turkey or Iran ... 😲 But maybe I something don't know? 🤗 Of course, a overflight 16 Su-9 through Iran and especially Turkey without coordination with them is a resounding slap in the air defense, so they could have been silent about it. As version... But the appearance of the 16 Su-9 in Syria could not pass unnoticed for Israel, and naturally they wouldn’t be silent about it. Actually a question. Has anyone heard of either the Su-9 in Syria, the overflight of the Su-9 through Iran, Turkey? Any West recourse? B.R. Serge
