  1. de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otters 1:72 Iliad Designs (72015A) de Havilland of Canada had their work cut out to replace the DHC-3 Beaver. They did this successfully with the DHC-6 Twin Otter. This is an excellent Short Take Off & Landing Aircraft with the additional range and safety of a Twin engined aircraft. Over 890 aircraft have been built finding homes with many civilian and Military operators around the world. This new sheet from ILIAD is for the DHC-6 300 as kitted by Revell. 6 different aircraft can be built from the sheet; FAE 449 of the Ecuadorian Air Force. C-FCSU as operated by Transport Canada in the coastal anti pollution role. UV-18A 76-22565 as operated by The US Army (be advised this has the short nose). 65-CT as operated by The French Air Force as part of the Multinational Force & Observers unit in the Sinai. HB-LRR As operated by The International Committee of the Red Cross in Algeria and Afghanistan in 2004. S/n 1730 Guatemalan Air Force. The decals look excellent, well printed, colour dense and with minimal carrier film. The white does look dense enough to go over the all red finish of the Canadian example. Conclusion These decals will add something to the already great Revell kit. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  2. Getting back into the hobby recently........but I just went to apply decals to my 1/48 Stearman and went to slide the first two decals off and they just shattered. Doing this bird off the sheet, put the 73's in mildly warm water, like I always did in the past. Let them set for a few then went to slide them off and BAM! Was it the warm water? Iliad decals just like to do that? Gonna try another decal and see what happens. Fortunately I mistakenly bought a second set so I have that part again.
  3. Stearman PT-17 1:48 Iliad Designs The PT-17 was the military designation of the Boeing-Stearman Model 75. This was used as a the primary trailer for the USAAF, USN and RCAF. It was a conventional biplane of rugged construction with large, fixed tailwheel undercarriage, and accommodation for the student and instructor in open tandem cockpits. This new sheet from ILIAD allows for 5 different aircraft can be built from the sheet; PT-17 4th British Flight Training School, Mesa, Arizona earl 1940. PT-17, S/N 216546, Kunming, China 1943. N2S-3 (USN PT-17) S/N 39123. California 1944. N2S-4 USN S/N 29950, Michigan, 1942. PT-27 (RCAF PT-17) FJ888 of 36 EFTS, Pearce, Alberta 1942. The decals look excellent, well printed, colour dense and with minimal carrier film. Conclusion These decals will help the modeller make a good looking PT-17. Highly Recommended. 4. Berlin Airlift C-47s 1:72 Iliad Designs It did not take too long after the end of WWII for things to turn sour between the former Allies of East and West. The first real test of the Cold War came in 1948 when the Soviet bloc decided to blockade the former German Capital of Berlin which despite being in the Soviet Zone of occupied Germany was administered jointly between the Soviets, The UK, France and the USA. Road, Rail & Canal access to West Berlin was closed off but not the Air Corridor. In what has been described as the biggest humanitarian airlift in history, air Crews from the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia & South Africa would operate an Airlift to bring in Supplies to West Berlin. Over 200,000 flights would take place in the space of a year, at the height of the campaign, one plane landed every 45 seconds at Tempelhof Airport. 39 British & 31 American personnel, and 13 German civilians lost their lives in the Berlin Airlift. They are remembered on the Berlin Airlift monument at Tempelhof. The C-47/DC-3 was still at the time available in large numbers and as such saw a lot of service during the Berlin Airlift, this new sheet from ILIAD allows for 4 different aircraft can be built from the sheet; USAF C-47 "Fassberg Flyer". USAF C-47 S/N 315672. S/N 293708 European Air Transport Service. DC-3 from BOAC G-AGIZ . The decals look excellent, well printed, colour dense and with minimal carrier film. Conclusion These decals help commemorate an important part of Cold War history. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of

  6. Air National Guard P-47s 1:48 Iliad Designs In the US post war with the increasing development of jet technology, what were frontline aircraft quickly filtered down to Air National Guard units. This sheet from Iliad allows the modeller a choice of three Air national Guard units which were issued with the P-47D & N Thunderbolts. Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Maryland are the three states to feature on this new sheet. The decals are glossy and sharp, the colours are good and dense. Carrier film in minimal. The code numbers and national insignia have cleverly been sectioned to fit over intercooler outlets. Conclusion These decals will make a different P-47. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
