  1. My latest completion the High Planes Models Finger finished as a Brazilian Mirage IIIEBR, this is the boxing that comes with the Mirage EBR conversion parts and decals, it spent about 6 months on the shelf of doom and I decided to complete it over the Christmas period, the kit goes together quite well but the decals were a bit of a nightmare some of them were out of register and they refused to settle on the kit despite using Microset and Microsol and silvering quite badly, so it will probably go straight into a box and be exiled to the loft. enjoy Willy
  2. Here is my third HPM Mirage after the egyptian one and the argentinian one The Dassault Mirage 5F had several lives. In 1966, Israel ordered 50 plane named Mirage V. It was based on a IIIE, without radar, and more fuel storage for attack missions. French President De Gaulle decided an embargo on these aircrafts because of the 1967 war in the middle east. All these aircraft finally went to Armée de l'Air in 1970 under the Mirage 5F name. This plane became a very good ground-attack aircraft. This kit is my third High Planes Mirage, after my egyptian and my argentina Mirages. It's good kits but with heavily engraved panel lines. It has been painted with different shades of Alclad. I added some RPK-10 fuel tanks with SAMP 250kg bombs. I also added two AIM-9b rockets. My Mirage squadron with an argentinia IAI Dagger, my french Mirage 5F, and an egyptian Mirage 5SDE. Hope you'll like it. You can find all the buiding here http://maquette72.free.fr/articles/2012_92_93_94_MirageIII/index94_pap.php Alain.
  3. Hi, Here is my last model. The Egyptian pilots were introduced to Mirage-III/5 fighters in the beginning of the seventies when about 20 Egyptian pilots traveled to Libya to fly its Mirage fighters. Egyptian pilots flew Libyan Mirage fighters during the war and they were pleased for its high performance. The major order for Mirage-5 fighters was 1975 and the order was funded by some Saudi Arabia. Egypt went in a large Mirage-5 purchasing program in which she purchased more than 54 Mirage-5SDE, 16 Mirage-5SDDS, 6 Mirage-5SDDR and 16 Mirage-5SDDE2. Egyptian fighters were modified by advanced electronics and ECM systems. Egypt used these fighters in multi-role missions including air defense using guns and RR-550 Magic II missiles and ground attack using bombes and rockets as well as reconnaissance. Egyptian Mirage-5 squadrons are based at Tanta, Genklis and Marsa-Matroh AFBs and they are expected to fly at lest till 2015. (source : http://www.egfighters.freehosting.net/mira.html) A totally new model of Mirage IIIE was studied by High Planes Models at the beginning of 2011. Halfway between a short-run and an industrial model, this new model went out in 2012. Its high qualities are a wide choice of options allowing the realization of most of the versions of the Mirage III / 5 / 50 and derived with the same box. The model is also very well thought, easy to assembly, except the nose/cockpit which is delicate to match. Decorations proposed are also very pleasant. The partnership with PJ Production allows to have European high-quality versions too. Its main defect is its engraving. Announced as an all new model, everybody dreamt about a definitive Mirage IIIE model. Not al all !! This engraving is too deeper and too smooth. Nevertheless, this model allows the realization of a completely attractive model. At the end, we can thank High Planes for having produced this model, making accessible in a modern boitage a version until now reserved for only Heller. The assembly follows strictly the assembly plan. A Mirage 5SDE corresponds to a French IIIE with a foot of wide drift and some additional antennas. Another part is the three tones schemes with orange facing. This scheme comes from a 1975 exercice. Finally decals results from a mix of a Carpena sheet and a very nice and high-quality FCM Sheet also proposing this decoration but without facings orange. In the end, I'm quite happy with this model. You can find the whole article here : http://maquette72.free.fr/articles/2012_92...x92_anglais.php And the building here (only in french) : http://maquette72.free.fr/articles/2012_92...2_93_94_pap.php Thanks for your comments. Alain.
  4. Hi, Here is my last model. It is my second HPM Mirage after the egyptian one. The Israel Aircraft Industries Nesher (IAI Nesher) is the Israeli version of the Dassault Mirage 5 multi-role fighter aircraft. It was built by IAI after the French government arms embargo on Israel (in response to the 1968 Israeli raid on Lebanon). Israel coundn't replace their lost planes during the Six Days Wars. So, they decided to build their own plane based on the Mirage. Production began in 1969 and the first plane was delivered in 1971. The plane took then the name of Nesher (Raam previously). At the end of 1970, the Kfir became replaced the Nesher and Israel decided to sold the survivors aircrafts to the Argentine Air Force under the name Dagger, comprising 35 Dagger A single-seat fighters and 4 Dagger B two-seat trainers. During the 1982 Falklands War, they were deployed to the southern naval airbase of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, and an airfield in Puerto San Julián and despite the distance to their targets and lack of aerial refueling capability, managed to make 153 sorties against both ground and naval targets on the 45 days of operations. In the last role, they damaged HMS Antrim, Brilliant, Broadsword, Ardent, Arrow and Plymouth.Eleven Daggers were lost in combat (nine by AIM-9L Sidewinders fired from Sea Harriers and two by surface to air missiles). High Planes brought out in the 2000s a first short-run model plastic. Very rustic, it was very accurate and was a good alternative to the Heller, very accurate too but with poor details. A totally new model of Mirage IIIE was studied at the beginning of 2011. Halfway between a short-run and an industrial model, this new model went out in 2012. Its high qualities are a wide choice of options allowing the realization of most of the versions of the Mirage III / 5 / 50 and derived with the same box. Nevertheless, this model allows the realization of a completely attractive model. At the end, we can thank High Planes for having produced this model, making accessible in a modern boitage a version until now reserved for only Heller. Building this plane was very classic by following the assembly plan. The fitting is pretty good. Like my Egyptian Mirage, this is a three tones schemes. The scheme with yellow parts comes from identification marks from Falklands Isles War en 1982. Paints are all Gunze and decals are all coming from the box. I only added an armement set from Freightdog Models with the three tanks and two 250 lbs bombs. Very classic configuration for Argentina during this period but not common otherwise. Mat varnish for finish. Happy with the result. Next one will be a french Mirage 5F. It will be my third HPM Mirage. You will find more photos there. And the building is there Alain.
