  1. Hi My father and I decided to start a new project. This time we will try to represent by doing models the Supermarine Walrus / Seagull V during WWII. We have a couple of books on this topic and even the "Fleet Air Arm camouflage and marking - Atlantic and mediterranean Theatres 1937-1941" which is excelent. During the last week I have started to collect all the photos, reference material, etc in order to make a pre selection which so far is about 15 to 20 aircrafts. Unfortunately, as always happends I have a couple of questions or doubt about some of them. Just for start we would like to make for this series one of the Walrus used on the Operation Torch. - From the old Profile book I have a photo of the HMS Rodney´s Walrus during Operation Torch in 1942. The British roundels on the top of the wing have been painted over and on the hull is an American white star. - From the Warpaint book I have a profile of the HMS Cumberland´s Walrus mk II used on the Operation Toch with the serial number P9561 finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey and Dark Slate Grey / Dark Sea Grey and Light Slate Grey with Sky Grey (S.1.E) The profile mentioned the following about the roundels: Red/Blue roundels above top mainplane, Red/White/Blue/Yellow roundels on fuselage sides and Red/white/Blue roundes under lower mainplane all overpainted with a white Torch star. Fin flash painted out. There is a small photo of this Walrus on the profile book too although the serial number cannot be seen. (Here is the photo on the web http://www.google.com.ar/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fi169.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fu224%2Ftaylg%2FWalrus.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.network54.com%2FForum%2F149674%2Fthread%2F1254455300%2FAmerican%2BWalrus-&h=508&w=640&tbnid=XwjpNPHBYHYmiM%3A&zoom=1&docid=g35792_n0WlHBM&itg=1&ei=mDNVVLmMGoOWNv_HgfAM&tbm=isch&ved=0CGcQMyhCMEI&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=576&page=4&start=62&ndsp=219 The - From Mushroom book I have a profile with a completely different scheme colour camouflage (Dark Earth, Middle Stone, Azure Blue. and with out the serial number nor under wing roundels. From all this information we will probably include the HMS Cumberland´s Walrus mk II P9561 but I wonder if any of you could help me with these points: 1) Top and lower mainplane roundels. Is there any photo of a Torch Walrus showing these roundels? Could I asume by seen the photo of this walrus the roundels above top mainplane were overpainted as well as the lower mainplane? 2) Serial number: Was only the words "Royal Navy" overpainted like the fin flash or Was it the serial number P9561 also overpainted?. Sorry if I am bother you with these questions. We makes our models with errors but we trying to avoid them as much as we can. Many thanks in advance Kind regards Santiago PD I save the question on other walrus (SEAC markings, etc) for future posts.
