  1. Hello Everyone. I'm Jerry, aka owl. ( Wife's nickname for me ). I live in North Yorkshire by the seaside. I'm new to this hobby so don't know a great deal about it but I'm fascinated by planes and helicopters, my main interests are modern aviation but like the older stuff too and anything unusual/weird. I hope to gain some knowledge and also share some when I gain it. I'm going to model mainly in 1/144 and 1/100 scale due to space limitations. I have just completed my first kit A revell 1/144 chinook ch47d helicopter. Hope to talk to some of you soon. Jerry
  2. Hi everyone! TL;DR: please recommend a 1:48 Eduard me109 for the Pacific theatre I joined the forum because my dad's gotten back into model airplanes and he's asked me for a 1:48 scale Me 109 from Eduard for his upcoming birthday. I've had a cautionary Google and there's quite a lot of stuff on their website that I'm not sure where to start (Link) He's pretty good with photo-etched parts and building custom hoses and such out of wire so I'm pretty sure he'll be happy with the more complex looking stuff on there. Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but I don't really have much experience in this hobby so I thought this would be the best place to start looking! I'd like to know which models are recommended, and which era of 109 would be appropriate for the rest of his models. (They're almost all exclusively Pacific theatre American navy aircraft). Cheers for slogging through that thesis, sorry it's a bit of a long introduction :^) Look forward to hearing what you've all got to say!
  3. Hi everyone, this is actually my second post here as my first one was a few minutes earlier trying to see how pictures can be attached. Anyway, here's a few things about me: I try to build aircraft models with little or no success. Although I haven't finished anything in ages, I'm consider myself to be good at buying kits though. I've been away from the hobby for some time so this is my return, the sequel, the 'part 2' etc. I have recently set up my little workshop of horrors, where kits get abused and mutilated, parts get lost, clothes get RLM65 stains and money is transformed (mainly) to plastic. Please forgive any mistakes in my text as english is not my first language. Also please forgive my total lack of talent. Please expect many questions; I'm learning everything from the beginning. When not wasting my time over my bench, I work for a well known aircraft manufacturer and maintenance facility. I am an aircraft maintenance engineer and have been for more than 20 years now. I also take pictures of aeroplanes and attend airshows etc. So yeah, you could say I am a geek. So, thank you for having me here. Kind regards, Kostas

  6. Hi all, I'm Chris, I'll admit I've been lurking on this page for some time now!! I'm just starting out in the modelling hobby really, when work allows. At the moment I tend to build in 1/48. I'm just coming to the end of an Airfix meteor F8 that has been on the work bench for around 2 years?!? 😐😉
  7. Hi all! Long time reader, first time member! Looking to expand out of Facebook groups in the the more real world! I have been building models since 2014, but built them in my youth. Nothing much to say just wanted to say hello! Happy modelling, Adam
  8. Hello, my name is Angel, and I am from Puerto Rico. I can communicate in English and Spanish, but I apologize in advance if I make any errors, English is not my first language. I just start putting together models (I have done a couple in my life but now I am kind of taking it more seriously). I have been attracted to modeling most of my life but always as a wishful thinking or like "some day I will". Probably 2 month ago I bought some gunpla and from there I have acquire some 1/24 cars and figures, 1/72 WW2 and "modern"planes and tank, that are waiting their turn. I am here in the pursue of inspiration and knowledge. So lets see where this road takes me.
  9. Hi all, brand new to the site.
  10. Hi world - This is my second restart at modeling - I picked up the paint and glue 4 years ago after last making a kit aged about 13 ( which was at the end of the '80's). I built a few 1:72 things, then a baby came along, and I stopped. That was 2 years ago, and I'm making another go of it. I've changed my focus to 1:48 kits, and probably 1950's and 60's jets, simply because I love the shape of them. My user name is a tribute to my other love - jazz. I am not a long dead Egyptian king. This forum is a big inspiration to me, and its great to finally be involved. James.
  11. I'm kinda new to modelling. I've been doing this few years and recently had a long break because of extramural college. I have only build 4 models so far so I'm always happy to learn new things. My main interest is giant mecha but anything Sci-Fi related is good. Hope to find some fellow SF modellers here. Some of you may know me from FichtenFoo od MaschinenKrieger forums. Here are my works so far: My Falke is 90% done, abandoned 3 (4?) years ago, hopefully will finish it soon.
