  1. All, here is my 1st Ready for Inspection blog--Johnny @The Spadgent got me thinking this would be a good idea. For the forum's consideration I offer up Airfix's Typhoon 1B/Fw-190 Dog Fight Double consisting of Stapleton's Typhoon Mk1B and Priller's Fw-190--almost all kit markings. Special thanks goes out to @G.R.Morrison & @Chris Thomas along with many others from the forum who provided research info on the subjects in the discussions linked below: I would be remiss not thanking @giemme, @The Spadgent, @billn53, @RidgeRunner & @opus999 You guys have been helping me improve for years! Thank you so much--for me you have turned 1/72 scale from outline builds to an art that is fun to build and look at. Tracking all of your awesome builds is both a treat and jaw dropping--I hope you see I am catching up😎. Here are the build links: And now on to the photos--Best to all, Erwin
  2. I need something to distract me so I don't ruin the last few details of my Bf109 V14 build, so seeing as I banged out an Airfix Hurricane in 4 days, last week why not try their cheap and cheerful FW190 and see if I can get another quick finish? So the sprues and box as required: Who needs snakes on a plane? Samuel Jackson didn't and I certainly don't. Markings will be Lt Linz' blue 4 from the Skys sheet. I remember a build in the Airfix mag where the armoured oil cooler ring was blue...hmm, that, a blue spinner and a yellow tail, ooh pretty! Did the pit quickly and just added some Eduard etch belts. This kit has some nasty fit issues, I took over 1 mm off the sides of the cockpit/IP before the fuselage even came close to closing. Its also littered with pock marks and sprue gates that flow on to mating surfaces etc. Still, have grinder, will butcher: Life's too short to bitch about a £4.99 kit. Happy modelling, y'all!
  3. Hi guys. This is my second RFI, and my first ever 1/72 scale build, not counting the many I built at the age of six. I have only built Tamiya kits since getting back into the plastic a year or so ago, so when I was bought this little fella for my birthday by a friend at work I couldn't resist the challenge, and see what all the fuss was about. Fit issues, filler, tiny scale / paint woes, flash. Airfix has never been on my radar really so this was a bit of a double whammy. I really wanted to do this lovely little kit justice. I'd bought new Flory washes and this would be their maiden voyage too. I'm happy with the way the kit turned out, there were some build issues but nothing I didn't enjoy fixing. The whole filling, fixing, fitting, re-fitting aspect was really fun. For those who are interested here is the WIP of this build. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235000826-aaaargh-its-an-airfix-focke-wulf-fw109-a-8-in-172-scale-birthday-challenge/ I hope you all enjoy the pictures. Here goes. Well there you have it. I hope you like my latest bird. It has been a real eye opener and a whole heap of fun to boot. Thanks to everyone for chipping in along the way. All the best and happy modelling. John. Those with a keen eye will notice "Noel" on the bomb. It was he who bought me the birthday gift, so I decided to imortalize him.
