  1. I decided to do this first before my F-100F Misty FAC. This will give me practice on the drooped slats. I am just "drooping" them a little not fully dropping them as I don't want to fully do the acutating mechanism. I have seen static pics of them with the slats slightly drooped. The kit is the old but very good ESCI kit, I am using the finned napalm from the Italeri F-100F kit and then 2 Mk 82 snakes from my Hasegawa weapons set. Question, do the snakes or napalm go on the inner pylon? I have seen both. Here is where I am at, I started by cutting the upper flaps and have just scored the lower flaps. I usually do the cockpit first but wanted to get the hard part done first.---John
  2. Latest one just finished today. One of my all time favourite aircraft. I was a bit too young to see them in their prime but thankfully did manage to see the blue and white Flight Systems aircraft before they were retired. That 'boom' as the afterburner kicked in was something else! I always see this as the American version of the EE Lightning despite only having a single engine. Something about the shape perhaps. This is the old Esci kit which still holds up well even by today's standards. Fine engraved panel lines and pretty good fit all round. The instructions are a bit vague in places and the decals were completely past it on my example but I was always going to use aftermarket Xtradecals so it was no problem. Finished as a 50th TFW machine based at Hahn in (West) Germany Painted with Vallejo Metal Color silver and dark aluminium with a touch of Tamiya orange weathering powder to try and replicate the burnt effect on the rear of the fuselage. I don't think I went far enough but didn't want to ruin the finish. I may try a different method next time... quite fancy a well worn Danish example 😁 Thanks for looking, comments as always appreciated. 👍
  3. Well here's the latest from the lockdown production line. The classic Esci F-104G. A great little kit that i picked up off a well known auction site. It brought back many happy memories of when i built several of these when i was a lad when it was first released. Lovely fine engraved panel lines that stand up even by today's standards and simple construction. Unfortunately the decals were shot so i used some from a Hasegawa kit. Everything went together easily until the final parts of the build where i almost chucked the thing in the bin. I somehow managed to fix the tailpipe in at an angle (so don't look at the photos too close!). I had paint peel off from the tip tanks that required many many repaints. The pitot tube then snapped off and went missing, so had to replace with brass rod....which also snapped off countless times. Then while attempting to redrill out... the nosecone cracked requiring a repair job. I'm still not happy with this area but I'm afraid to even breath on it now so it will have to do. Then at the eleventh hour the nose wheel bay collapsed! Just one of those kits that didn't want to be finished! Paints were from Vallejo and Mr Hobby, final matt varnish from Vallejo. It's far from perfect but at least i finally have a German Hooter in my collection, hoping to join it with a Marineflieger, Dutch, Canadian, Danish and Belgian examples highlighting what a widespread aircraft this was in my youth. Long live the 104. Thanks for looking!
  4. Hi all This is my latest production and last of the backlog for RFI. Back in 1983 I had a flight in a DC3 at an airshow at Dyce, Aberdeen. The aircraft was G-AMPO of Air Atlantique in their, then new, Green Stripe livery. I loved the look of this livery and the memory of the flight has lasted. When I returned to modelling I was browsing through BM and found an example of G-AMHJ in the Air Atlantique blue stripe livery, That set me looking for a set of the green stripe decals by 26decals. I then looked for a suitable kit of the DC3, winning an old ESCI kit on eBay for a very good price. Nice to see that the image on the box was the aircraft I intended to build, albeit in an older scheme, and with a previous owner. The build was fairly straightforward with good fit of the kit. I did some alterations to make the kit as close to the plane I flew in as possible. I cut and glazed some extra cabin windows and scratched some extra seats in the cabin so that it was the 32 seater I was in. In hindsight that seemed a waste of time because you can't see in the cabin. The 26Decals were excellent and easy to work with although there were a coupled of errors; the emergency exit marks for the cabin roof say 'EXIT HERE IN EMERGENCY' when it should be 'CUT HERE IN EMERGENCY'. I have left these as they were. The other issue with the decals was the plane has three emergency exits through windows but there is only 2 on the decals sheet. I resolved this by painting a red square onto the decal film, seems to work ok. While the plane I flew in was basically out of the paint-shop I have chosen to present my interpretation as G-AMPO appeared in 1985, looking quite grubby and bearing recently added Air Luton titles. My presentation is just before the new titles were added. On to the pictures. Thanks for looking. Graeme
  5. Despite the fact that a former CF104 driver once told me the best use of an F5 was to saw the wings off, paint it yellow and use it to start real airplanes, I have always had a soft spot for the F5. Finished this a few months ago, but haven't had time to post until now. OOB pretty much with a few additions in the cockpit. Belcher Bits decals. This is a little jewel of a kit. Now if I can only finish it's two seater brother.......
  6. Good afternoon Today I 'd likte to present you an F5 C Esci that I finished some times ago ..this is a very nice model but very difficult to find .. I used the decals from the kit to represent a aircraft flown by the Skoshi Tigers Squadron in Vietnam .. I used a Wolfpack set to detail the cockpit and replace the seat by a Pavla one Patrice
