Some while back I made some (very) rudimentary pilots for my 1/144 scale Tomcat, and given the accuracy and detail of the original kit they were fine for that, but they wouldn't win any awards! I spotted a guy was selling 3D printed pilots on eBay and asked if he'd considered 144th scale versions... he had considered it, and was about to do them so, I waited a couple of weeks and hey presto ordered a bundle of 5 little pilots just to see how they look. They arrived this morning and appear to be finely detailed to my eye, certainly adequate once under a typical canopy on any little 1/144 scale jet. I'm yet to attempt painting and using them, and as I'm shortly moving home it'll be some while before I get around to that. They're from https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/cocamp-7821 He presently does two versions; a pack of 5 pilots with seats for £6.25 (these ones) or a pack of 6 pilots without seats for £6.45 (both including UK delivery only) I have absolutely no connection to the guy, these were bought by me, I just thought they're worth sharing with the rest of you if you're on the look out for some generic modern military seated pilots for your 1/144 scale aircraft in flight. I like them, I think you might too!

On the RN S2 Buccaneers was the ejection seat handle the D-type or the double pull ring. I have seen some pictures where the handle is the D-type but the Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer has the double pull ring. Was it a requirement of the RAF that it be changed to the double pull ring ? TIA Robert

I am gathering aftermarket bits and bobs in preparation to start working on Kinetic's Sea Harrier FA.2. One thing that I can't seem to find, however, is a resin ejection seat with molded-in belts for this plane. I've taken a look at the MB Mk.10s from Wolfpack Designs but they seems to be the wrong type of seat, featuring a slightly different head box compared to the SHAR seat. Thus, can anyone point me in the right direction to get the correct seat? Thanks! Mark

Not many pics as I want to complete this one as soon as I can....bit of a deadline. Straps from metal foil from wine bottles, clips cut from plastic card. Buckles are etched metal from the Verlinden detail set, as is the resin seat.

A-4 Skyhawk Ejection Seat with safety belts 1:72 Quickboost by Aires A decent ejection Seat can help tremendously with the look of many models. No doubt thanks to the new tool kits which have emerged Quickboost have brought us a very well moulded A-4 Seat in 1.72 scale. This is the ESCAPAC seat designed by Douglas. The seat comes as one part complete with molded in seat belts (for those of us who lothe PE!. A very small seat firing handle and a very fine top of the seat firing handle are also on the casting block, though I struggle to see how the last part will be removed without breaking it, its that fine! While for the A-4 with a little bit of work this could be used for many of the aircraft which were fitted with this seat. Highly recommended. QB72 409 Lockheed F-104C Starfighter Ejection Seat 1:72 Quickboost by Aires The F-104 Starfighter had a bot of a chequered history with ejection seats. These were made initially by Stanley Aviation. The C-1 seat initially fitted was a downward firing seat due to the Starfighter being a high level interceptor. This presented problems with low altitude ejection and 21 USAF pilots died due to this. The C-2 seat was then developed which fired upwards. However the aircraft still had to have a forward speed of over 104mph to work correctly. Many export Starfighters were fitted with Martin Baker seats to overcome this limitation. In addition the first F-104G's for Denmark, Italy, Turkey and Germany were delivered with this seat, before they were changed to the martin Baker one. Airies have presented us here with the Stanley C-2 seat, complete with seat cushions, harnesses and the foot plates. The detail that Aires have managed to accommodate in this seat is very good. The structural details are pin-sharp, whilst the seat cushions and fabric harnesses look just like the real thing. The parts are superbly cast in grey resin and there are no traces of bubbles or flaws in the resin. Overall this is a superb item and can be highly recommended for use in any F-104C kit. Designed to be used with Airfix, Hasegawa, Heller, Italeri and Revell kits. Highly recommended. Review samples courtesy of distributed in the UK by Hannants Ltd.

Pretty much as the title says really. I've found that aside from Martin-Baker's site and the line drawings that IV(AC) Plumb posted here on MB, there's pretty little in the public domain - and only about half a dozen different pictures that appear in all the Harrier books. I'm interested if anyone has any pictures of the component parts (particularly of the back of the seat), parts lists, dimensional data etc. Can you help? Many thanks, Kirk

Just got my sticky mitts on the new Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11. I am intending the first one straight out of the box as the WZ507. Can anyone provide advice on detail painting of the ejection seats? I understand I need to add single loop firing handle in yellow and black on the head box? Many thanks. Simon
