  1. I can't understand why Eduard has included decals for instrument dials in their 2021 rebox (7406). There are several small decals for dials, but the kits itself doesn't have any parts for the decals. And as the Albatros cockpit doesn't have a flat instrument panel, you can't really use them. It's quite strange, unless the idea is to provide them for those who will scratchbuild the dials. But it's fortunate that these decals are included, I can use one of them for a Roden 1/72 Pfalz D.III build. I really hope that the WWI project that Eduard is working on, is a 1/72 kit. I don't think so, but one can hope.
  2. This is fun. A Fokker Dr.1 flown by the French as a training tool. Unarmed, of course. This is actually an Eduard kit, so the quality is very high, reboxed by SabreKit, another Czech company, or maybe the same Czech company but a subsidiary? Who cares. I have built this kit before and it is flawless and absolutely tiny when completed, and the Dr.1 was quite small to begin with. I'll jump in soon enough! --John
  3. Hi all, This one was a long time in the finishing, but I got there in the end! In 2018 I had the idea to pair the Eduard Mig_15bis with the Zil-157 fuel tanker/bowser from Omega. Some of the diorama inspiration came from the tanker box art (Link here). Since that time, other projects and two house moves bumped this build down the priority list. I picked up a very small bit of shaped MDF from Telford one year with this project in mind (the edges took a lot of sanding/varnish to make them smooth). The Eduard MiG-15bis kit was a straightforward build with nice details (including colour PE for the cockpit). The 'oversprayed' Korean war markings did not come out well, so I added them back in by hand in oils, which looked OK. The only aftermarket was the Eduard Brassin resin wheels. I opened up an engine access panel on the side of the aircraft and added some very basic internal detail. The tanker kit had nice details but poor fit, especially around the clear parts which took some coaxing to sit right. I posed the aircraft and tanker on printed hexagonal airfield texture from Scale Model Scenery. I bought some (expensive) scenic snow kit from Deluxe, mainly to support my local hobby shop, but the product was disappointing and the snowflakes would only suit 1/35 or larger scales. I ended up adding some good old baking powder to the base which looked better as wind-blown fine snow. I added PE ladders, maintenance gantry, chocks and intake and engine covers from Eduard Res-IM. I made a 'tarp' from foil, tissue and PVA, and added one mechanic figure with spanner in hand fiddling with the open access panel, and another figure climbing the fuel bowser. The figures were 'Frankenfigures' cobbled together from Preiser and Revell U-boat sets, and a fair bit of 'green stuff'! Additional PE tools and tool box came from Brengun. Hope you like the pics.
  4. Hello everyone... I would like to present my second of four builds from the Spitfire group build. It is Eduards fine Mk.IXc late 1/72 kit and my very first Eduard Spitfire. I enjoyed it enough that I went and bought two more kits right away, both Mk.VIII’s. I am also planning on at least five more Eduard builds by the way as I like the kits so much. My Build represents a P.R.Pink “Dicing” Spitfire, used at the time just after June 6th thus the title. A link to the actual build in case you're curious or interested. A photo with the four squadron mates in formation. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments, and or add thoughts. Dennis
  5. Another spitfire variant to knock of the list. Eduards little beauty, nothing I can add about this kit that has not already been said. This was the weekend version, so no extra frills to be added. Stuck with the kit decals even though I seem to remember there being some discussion about the colour of the codes being wrong. Tim
  6. A brief WIP here - but now (well some time ago, but to lazy to get camera out) finished. Eduards little beauty in 1/72. not bothered with with any weathering as they were probably well looked after by this time. Did have some issues with the under-wing serial decals curling up on me. First time this has happened. Had to break out the old modeldecal codes. Not quite the same font, but close enough in this scale. enough waffle, onto the pictures ............................. Tim
  7. Good evening My first build for this Gb is the superb Eduard kit http://www.hyperscale.com/2016/reviews/kits/eduard70121reviewbg_1.htm I will build it as the aircraft flown by P/O Pierre Closterman when he was serving with the 602 Squadron in Normandy in 1944 Some books I just started to paint the interior of the cockpit in green Patrice
  8. This airplane was based in Boccadifalco airfield ,near Palermo-Sicily; Palermo is the city of my birth and Boccadifalco is the airport where I grew up, this is because my father was president of RC modeling section , then you know very well that the smell of the field grass, of the gasoline is always in my nose. My goal is to make all aircraft based in that airport: Italian, U.S. and Germany. I begin with a Bf 110E of 7./ZG26, tomorrow I'll post an US Spit. Ettore
