  1. MPM has released a series of Fokker D.XXI plastic kits, including one in Dutch neutrality markings, which I have: https://www.super-hobby.co.uk/products/Fokker-D.XXI-Dutch-Patrol.html At the same time, there are quite a few aftermarket resin sets made by Kora for this kit: ... and they`re not exactly cheap if you add them up. On the bright side though, Kora has thought to release two sets for the Dutch Fokkers that contain all of the above, apart for the Elevator set, but also add decals: I bought the first one, with the national markings, because it was on sale and I thought to do an inbox review for anyone, who just like me, might have wondered what was in those boxes and couldn`t find a list of contents or a good photo online. So, here it is: KORA-C7268 1/72 Fokker D.XXI Conv.Set (Dutch service, part 1) The package looks like this: It contains a colour sheet with the painting and decal placing instructions: Some basic drawings showing how to assemble the resin pieces: and the back with a short English description (the rest of the page is in Czech) for the four machines you can build with the included decals: A decal with the national, pre-war markings (the MPM kit only comes with the orange neutrality markings) and numbers for 4 aircraft: It also contains stencils, including for the propeller logos and tricolor bands and the little red cross for the fuselage that are missing from the MPM decal. As you can see, the decal comes with a warning sheet. And here are the resin parts: As I`ve said, to my disappointment, the elevators are not included, which is a pity because they come with the 4 weird counterweights (both underside and upperside, on each side) that are not represented in the MPM kit and seem kind of a pain to make. What you get is this: - the engine cowling with the exhaust pipe molded onto it. The air filter though will have to come from the plastic kit. - the Mercury engine - with a few more details than the plastic one from the kit - if anyone knows what those two pipes/barrels each side of a cylinder are please let me know. I can`t see them in any photo of the real thing. - the propeller - the proper one, that is missing from the kit. I think it is a Hamilton and the kit has a Ratier. It`s the same one used on the Blenheim so if you have a Blenheim kit that you`re not building you can take it from there. On the downside, there is no alignment tool so it`s gonna be hit and miss. - the landing gear - the main legs are allegedly too thick in the kit for the Dutch machines. The Kora legs seem about the same thickness as the MPM ones and the wheel covers are even larger, but at least they`ve added that inspection hole on the side cover of the wheel. The wheels are more detailed than the ones in the kit. The tailwheel seems significantly larger than the one from the kit, but I don`t know if this is better or worse. - that little bump (5C) from the top fuselage, behind the engine cowling, which was missing from the MPM kit. Gotta have it! - the small box (medical kit?) (4A) that goes behind the pilot`s seat. The MPM kit also has this as a resin piece. - the seat - with the seatbelts cast onto it. The kit`s seat lacks them, but then again, MPM offers the seatbelts as coloured photoetch. - the control stick. - the sidewalls and the rest of the interior structure. The MPM kit uses plastic plates to represent what was otherwise a metal tubular structure and the resin pieces that come with the MPM kit are not much of an improvement. The Kora pieces are more of what should be there, but all the tubes are united with resin flash so it`s going to take some work to free those bars. I`m still thinking about how to proceed. As far as the quality of the casting is concerned, at a first glance, I`ve noticed quite a few air bubble holes (one on a wheel, on a leg, a propeller blade and a couple of the interior tubes, the exhaust pipe etc.) that will need to be filled. Here`s hopping that separating the parts from the blocks is not going to reveal more of them. I hope someone will find this useful when wondering about supplementing the MPM kit with an aftermarket. It proved impossible to me to find detailed info on the contents before going ahead with the purchase. As I`ve said, I bought this with my own money (the MPM kit as well) and there`s no commercial purpose to this post. All links provided above are there for illustrating purposes only.
  2. I want to built a Harvard IIb (Monogram / Revell-kit) used by the Dutch Air Force during 1947. What cockpit-color should I use? Interior Green (US color) or RAF Cockpit Grey / Green. Hans Weijand The Netherlands
