  1. Immediately after finishing my Fw 190D-9 from Gertrud Barkhorn (still needs its proper RFI photos), I "start" this one. It'll be my third attempt at this kit. The kit decals were printed in 2010, so this boxing is 10 years old (I already know the original kit was made in the 70s), they aren't cracked, so they should work fine (as long as they don't take much time from moving away of the backing paper). I'll be building the boxart plane. Click on the follow button if you wish to see how this build goes.
  2. Hello again! My second entry for the GB is the Dornier Arrow. This is a Matchbox issue but Scalemates confirmed that it is the Frog parts from 1974. One of the great Frog esoteric subjects it was never actually used in combat as a nightfighter (i think) but the two seater certainly did exist as a trainer version. Cheers Greg
  3. Hello Britmodellers! Been a long time since I posted (built) anything but here we go... It's the Matchbox Do 335 (cough cough).....it's the Frog 1974 Do 335 Nightfighter, picked up by Revell and reboxed/rebadged as Matchbox with new decals!! All according to the timeline from a site I enjoy Scalemates.......worth a look I reckon https://www.scalemates.com/ Anyway the kit was rough by current standards. Canopies definitely difficult in detail, thickness and fit. Raised panel lines, decals like leather, antennae shocking, flame dampners weird, fit average etc etc etc but I had a great time and enjoyed the build!!! I hope you like her... Thanks for looking. Cheers!
  4. Tamiya Do 335A Pfeil 1/48 - out of the box build, other than the Eduard etch (which was very cheap – like me). I completed this about a year ago and when I put it on Scalemates, it caused a minor kerfuffle because the exterior colours aren’t Tamiya/Luftwaffe/rivet-counter approved. As I've always thought the 335 as being a little bit 'Luft 46', so I decided to go a little off piste. I went with a lighter splinter camouflage and a light grey under-side. For no reason other than I wanted to – I’m not really that interested in historical accuracy (hang the heretic). My model, my rules. To one of the 'wrong colour' comments on SCM, I said that I would happily have painted it pink if I thought it would look good, and to amuse myself I did a quick photo edit to see what a Do 335 would look like in pink splinter camouflage. It looks a complete atrocity as you would expect, but I think Mattel are missing an opportunity to have a new range of 'Barbie's Third Reich accessories'. Gave me a giggle anyway (I think I might have too much time on my hands). Thanks for looking.
  5. Encouraged by the kind words for my first WIP, I'm back for more: I grabbed this off the top of the stash, After opening the box and laughing hysterically for 10 minutes at the million microscopic parts I put it back and got this instead: Much better. There isn’t much to the main airframe but the UC is very impressive and far from it’s easy build roots. Look at the detail on the hubs and UC legs : Just going to add some detail to the front UC bay as it’s a wee bit bare, some nice clear tip lights as well. Decided to make it an Eismeer whiffer as they seemed fond of odd camos when in Nordic climes. I borrowed the scheme from my AZ Gotha P60 and photoshopped a guide: Paint will be the supposedly horrible new Humbrol RLM enamels as I’m feeling lucky, well am I punk? OK, I got these cheap at LSA's closing down sale and thought hey why not? There is an RLM 76 somewhere but I have a couple carrier bags of etch and resin to sort, that its nestling down in , cowering from what I intend to do to it with Rustins driers and car shop cellulose thinners. Oops forget to add this before posting: The informed will know that HB have mangled the propblades so they defy any known aeronautical laws: After careful consideration I decided that this is just a little plastic model and it isn’t going on any combat missions. It’ll be fine unless it meets a rivet counter but thankfully, I fall asleep after the third word when they start pontificating about Shturm und Drang propellor logos and the length of handle for late model 109g flush toilet cisterns. I have also acquired these little vinyl masks to ease the pain of the panes in the canopy. Never heard of Pmask but they look identical to Montex masks. More will follow unless the Xmas cheer and soda renders me incoherent. Cheers Anil
