  1. Reini's Century Series - F-102A Delta Dagger Kit is Meng's F-102A Delta Dagger - with the older Case X wings. Lot's of plastic in a tiny box. Aftermarket items. Corrected nose and pitot tube. Other than that, the kit is really modern and has nice looking details. If you're looking for issues - the nose shape is off with the kit. On top is the corrected nose from Quickboost - below the kit part. Kit part is quite a bit slimmer as can be seen. Decals. I think I will be doing a Greek plane. I've built the kit before and it's excellent kit all around. This is from few years back, I think one of my last brush painted models I did.
  2. Hello, Britmodellers! 👋 Finally, the Deuce is finished. It was the second (and successful) attempt at building this kit that I planned to be straight OOB, but in the end I was opted for another painting scheme and AM decal set from fündekals :). The starboard side: The port side: The belly of a bird: Actually, it has a very rough finish, but I find it very attractive: The decals looks very lovely, even if the kit’s one aren’t so precise and thin: I messed up the starboard side lettering and the «FORCE» word is a bit wavy: Another downside was an incorrect placing of the MLG doors, but I decided to do nothing to prevent another problems: The canopy sealant looks excellent and as for me, it’s another cool-looking feature of this kit (along with the tail hook): So, the WIP thread is here for those who are interested: Thanks for looking, I hope you’ll like it! 🙂
  3. Hello, Britmodellers! 👋 Well, it’s time to build something from a Century Series again... I’m looked for a pleasurable and straightforward project and choose the «Deuce» from MENG! I’m not a big fan of the Gentleman Scale, but this kit draws my attention. Let’s look at the box: The box is sturdy and filled with a well-packed plastic parts: The first sprue (A Parts) with a fuselage halves: It’s a big bird, even if it’s a 1/72nd scale! 😋 The second sprue (B Parts) has a wings and weapon bay doors: The C and D (x2) Parts sprues has a cockpit and weapon parts on it: F Parts sprue with a Case XX wing tips: The G Parts is a protected sprue with a canopy and landing lights parts: An instruction sheet looks very informative and the decal sheet is colorful and well-printed. I want to build a 196th FIS bird in an ADC Gray scheme with a California markings: Thanks for looking! 😎
  4. Finally finished, this is a 'refresh' of the Monogram 1/48 Convair F-102A Delta Dagger. This is the original kit released in 1990 and has the Case XX wing, being a fan of the Convair Deltas I would have built this soon after I purchased it so it has been around for at least 20 years. I did post this in KUTA VIII earlier this year but didn't finish. So, on to the photos: Not too upset with the result however a few parts are missing; the nose probe, the IR sensor, one of the Falcon missiles and the rocket tube fairings on the missile bay doors. All the major parts of the aircraft were stripped back using Fairy Power Spray, given a dusting of Halfords grey primer, then mostly airbrushed with Model Master 1731 Aircraft (ADC) Gray. Almost all other colours were brushed using Vallejo paints. She is marked as the 496th FIS Commander's aircraft based at Hahn in FRG in 1961. Basic stencils and markings from a very old Superscale F-102 'Complete Stencil Data' and the unit markings from the 2002 rebox. All decals went on really well however I don't think that the black/yellow band on the nose is the correct way round! The whole thing was sealed with a coat of Humbrol satin varnish. The end result is better than I expected. The model is huge and shows how large the Delta Dagger was! The AIM-4D Falcon missiles are the originals, one was lost during the build so the centre forward pylon is empty. Michael

  6. Hello. Here's one of my model. The assembly is simple and mostly pleasant. The difficulties were with the main landing gear. . When building using a set of photo-etching The set offers color options US National Guard. Two gray and one camouflage. later I found the color version of the aircraft that participated in the war in Vietnam.I used MR color paints. Lite gray and dark green colors are "hand made mix"))) Weathering- oil dots and washes.
  7. She is a poor faded old gal, an original Monogram 1/48th F-102A Delta Dagger with the Case XX wing and I put her together in the early 90's using the kit decals and painted using one of those Humbrol small spray cans which were popular back then, was supposed to be FS36473 'ADC Grey' but I suspect was something quite different. Whatever, the sum of the parts was good and she has been on display in my cabinet until recently however with seven new builds this year I need the space and she has been ousted and is now poised on the edge of the 'shelf of shame'. So what to do? Well, I could bin her, however the original Monogram kit fitted well and all she needs is a little filler. The decals are shot but being Monogram they refuse to peel off. I think I did good work with the complex armaments bay and thanks to the brittle poly cement that I used all the parts have fallen out without too much persuasion. My plan is to attack her with Fairy Power Spray and lots of sanding paper and see what she looks like after that. I do have decals for other Delta Daggers, or I could complete her as a PQM-102A drone, or even as stored in AMARC back in the late 80's. I want to get this done quickly and the end of January deadline of this group build suits me perfectly, I want to start a big project after this. On to the photos Michael
  8. Hi all, I really got hooked on making this kit! Love these Monogram kits - they do take a bit of work but the detail is good and I think they look terrific. Having finished this I can believe how huge the F102 was. Pretty difficult to handle too - how long in the pitot going to last?? Already broken once!! Still unarmed as yet but wanted to take some pics today...
  9. Convair Delta Dagger F-102A (Case X) 1:72 Meng Models New Release Meng are to release a brand new tooling of this good looking aircraft in 1:72 which was America's first supersonic all-weather interceptor, which will have Meng's usual attention to detail, including the following: The kit offers various painting options which have been strictly verified The best assembly option and precise fit Retractable built-in pylons Canopy can be built either open or closed precise exhaust nozzle Precise model lines completely reproduce the perfect shape of the Area-ruled F-102A aircraft Landing gears and airbrakes can be built either open or closed. If their previous releases are anything to go by, it should be just whate the 1:72 Cold War jet builder is looking for. Don't point your smartphone at the QR (3D-barcode thingy) in the bottom right just yet, as the site isn't quite set up for it, as this is a pre-release photo
  10. Morning folks! As my next model after I finish the Wyvern, I'm planning to have a crack at Monogram F-102 I picked up a few weeks ago. My main plan is to use this as something to cut my teeth on rescribing panel lines before I attempt the B-58 I've got stashed away since it has to be nice and clean for all that Alclad. Because I suffer from an addiction to after-market though I was wondering about the F-102 and what I could cram in, I know there are cockpit sets from both Aires and Black Box but are these worth it? The cockpit straight out of the box isn't too bad if I'm honest, but I haven't seen either of these replacement cockpits before and wondered if they add all that much in terms of detail? The only part of the kit cockpit I'm not convinced about is the ejector seat, but aside from the two cockpit sets above, I haven't seen any replacement seats for it. I've also seen the landing gear bay replacement parts from Aires as well, are these worth it? My experience of Aires wheel wells in the past has been far from pleasant, so I'm not sure if these are worth the hassle. Anybody got any experience using any of this stuff? Or am I better off with perhaps just the Eduard etch set and a big pile of plastic card and some fuse wire? All help is appreciated folks! Kind regards, Nik
